Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Muster the Courage!

"You’re so drunk, can you still make tea for me?" Chen Wei asked with a smile.

"Um... I think I can," Qi Yulu replied, "I actually feel like having some tea right now as a thank you for bringing me home. I have some good tea at home that you’ll definitely like."

Her words having reached this point, Chen Wei would have seemed too lacking in emotional intelligence to talk about refusal, so he nodded and agreed, "Okay, then I’m really imposing."

"Not at all, please come in." Qi Yulu stepped aside, raising her hand to make a welcoming gesture, and, unseen by Chen Wei, she let out a long sigh of relief.

As Chen Wei prepared to bend down to take off his shoes, Qi Yulu quickly said, "You don’t have to, I plan to mop the floor tomorrow anyway."

"Alright." Chen Wei straightened up and walked into the house.

When Chen Wei entered the living room and stood there motionless, Qi Yulu found it strange.

Following him, she first glanced at Chen Wei, then followed his gaze, and that’s when she saw a scene that turned her cheeks crimson with embarrassment.

She had come back in a huffy temper, hurriedly finished her makeup, and hadn’t had time to tidy up yet: black stockings and a fiery red bra had been carelessly left on the coffee table.

"No! I’m so sorry! I’ll clean it up right away!" Qi Yulu rushed over, scooped up the bra, black stockings, and makeup box into her arms, and hurried to the bedroom before shutting the door.

She flopped onto the bed with everything in her arms, buried her face in the covers, clenched her fists, and swung her legs in frustration, flailing weakly against the duvet as she cried, "Ah! Why did he have to see the most embarrassing thing?"

If that were the case, Qi Yulu wished she hadn’t invited Chen Wei in. At least her impression on him wouldn’t have plummeted even more.

He must think I’m a sloppy and unkempt woman in my daily life, right?

Qi Yulu pursed her lips, lifted her head, and glanced sideways at the bedroom door. She wanted to stay in there forever, at least that way she wouldn’t have to face Chen Wei and die of embarrassment.

"The red bra, will he think I am actually an unrestrained, wanton woman inside?" In reality, Qi Yulu just liked the design of this bra, which came in flesh tone, black, and red. Only the red one looked the best, and it was more out of necessity than choice that she bought it. The matching panties were still on her.

"Ah..." She let out a long sigh, which made Qi Yulu feel a little better inside. She adjusted her mindset and got off the bed.

There was a guest waiting outside, and Qi Yulu didn’t want to lose face or forget the proper way to treat a guest.

Approaching the door, her hand grasped the doorknob. She took a deep breath, patted her chest, and her eyes suddenly became resolute. Qi Yulu felt she could handle it!

She pressed down on the doorknob, opened the bedroom door, and stepped out.

Then, she sensed a refreshing scent wafting through the air.

Qi Yulu couldn’t recall spraying perfume at home.

Wait a minute! On closer sniffing, there seemed to be the aroma of tea within the scent.

Hearing a noise, Qi Yulu looked over only to discover Chen Wei holding a teapot, coming out of the kitchen.

"You’ve had quite a bit to drink, so I thought it might be better if I made the tea for you. I used your kitchen without asking, is that okay?" Chen Wei asked.

"No, it’s no problem," Qi Yulu shook her head in response.

She then confirmed carefully once more, this was indeed her home, and Chen Wei definitely came out of her kitchen. There was no doubt that the teapot in his hand was hers, but surely, the tea leaves inside couldn’t have been brought by Chen Wei himself? But why could he brew such fragrant tea?

Qi Yulu didn’t remember ever buying this type of tea. Its aroma was rich yet not overpowering or cloying; instead, the more she smelled it, the more she wanted to keep sniffing.

The fragrance entered her nostrils, filled her chest, and reached her lungs... It felt as if her whole being had been purified, as though she were surrounded by a sea of flowers and tea.

"What’s wrong?" Chen Wei had already poured the tea and saw that Qi Yulu wasn’t coming over, so he looked up, puzzled.

"Nothing, it’s probably just the alcohol that hasn’t worn off yet." Qi Yulu raised her hand to her forehead, her brows slightly furrowed, feigning a headache.

"If that’s the case, this tea should be very suitable for you," Chen Wei indicated.

"Great, I’ll try it!" Qi Yulu couldn’t wait to sit down next to Chen Wei, holding the teacup in both hands.

The teacup was very small, and she finished it in one gulp.

In an instant, Qi Yulu felt as if she had been healed completely.

The lingering smell of alcohol on her was completely dispelled, replaced by the fragrance of the tea and flowers.

The two scents combined flawlessly, without a hint of discordance.

"This, is this made with the tea leaves you brought with you?" Qi Yulu snapped back to reality and eagerly confirmed.

"Who would bring their own tea leaves to someone else’s house to brew tea," Chen Wei said with a wry smile, explaining, "It’s all brewed with ingredients from your own kitchen."

"Impossible! I’ve tried all the teas in my kitchen, and none of them can produce this kind of flavor." Qi Yulu was convinced that Chen Wei was joking with her.

"That’s because you haven’t mixed them. As long as you get the proportions right and control the water temperature well, it’s actually not difficult to brew this kind of flavor," Chen Wei continued to explain.

"Mixing..." Qi Yulu stared intently at Chen Wei with wide eyes, unable to comprehend how this guy could be so perfect in everything.

So far, everything Qi Yulu could see, Chen Wei had achieved perfection in the truest sense.

She still found it hard to believe that she once had such an outstanding fiancé.

Grandpa had created such a good opportunity for me, yet I failed to grasp it!

Qi Yulu really wanted to slap herself twice, to teach herself a lesson.

If only she had known how outstanding Chen Wei was, she would have clung to him desperately and refused to break off the engagement when he came to her, proposing to call it off!

But now, the marriage document was already in Qi Yulu’s possession, kept in a drawer in her office. It was too late for anything.

Why couldn’t someone invent a Regret Medicine in this world?

If there were such a thing, Qi Yulu would definitely not hesitate to spend all her wealth to buy one and return to the second before Chen Wei presented the marriage document and wanted to break off their engagement, in order to turn things around!

Yet the reality was that now all she could do was imagine; she was powerless to do anything else. All she could do was swallow her regrets forcefully, keeping them bottled up inside her heart.

"Would you like another cup?" Chen Wei asked as he lifted the teapot.

"Yes, thank you." Qi Yulu raised her teacup with both hands.

Chen Wei poured for her.

She drank it all in one go.

Anyone who knew her would think she was drinking tea, but those who didn’t might well think she was drinking alcohol.

Qi Yulu put down the teacup.

"Whew... whew..." After a few breaths, feeling as though there was a fire pent up inside her, she began to muster up her courage.
