Chapter 337: Chapter 337 Frustrated Qi Yulu

Su Yong’an knelt on the ground, still trying to reach out and grab Chen Wei’s leg as he walked past, pleading with him in the most abject manner to let him off.

"You’ve got some nerve, daring to trouble Mr. Chen!" The bodyguard, seeing the opportunity, lifted his foot and stomped heavily on Su Yong’an’s fingers.

Instantly, pain caused Su Yong’an to grimace, and he could only watch helplessly as Chen Wei walked further and further away, his only hope receding into the distance.

He regretted it so much that his guts turned green.

On the road.

Chen Wei turned to Su Yumei and asked, "Senior sister Yumei, you won’t blame me for the way I handled your old classmate, will you?"

"Blame you? Why would I blame you? He was asking for trouble; he got what he deserved." Su Yumei expressed her honest thoughts, her fondness for Su Yong’an had long since dropped into the negatives.

Even without today’s events, in Su Yumei’s heart, Su Yong’an could never compare to Chen Wei. They weren’t on the same level, they were too far apart, as distant as the Milky Way.

The two of them left the hospital. Su Yumei got into the driver’s seat, and Chen Wei was about to get in the car when his phone suddenly rang.

The caller ID showed an unknown number.

Chen Wei didn’t think much of it and pressed the answer button, "Hello."

"Hello, this is Qi Yulu."

The granddaughter of Qi Xiangcheng, what did she want by calling him?

Chen Wei couldn’t understand. Hadn’t he already broken off the engagement and returned the marriage contract? Logically, there should have been no further contact since then.

Yet here she had specifically found his contact information and called him. Chen Wei didn’t understand her intent.

"What are you calling me for?" he asked, puzzled.

"..." On the other end of the line, Qi Yulu fell into silence; she rarely took the initiative to call men, usually only for work-related matters.

After hesitating for over half an hour, she finally decided to call the number her grandfather had given her for Chen Wei. Little did she expect that his first response would be so indifferent.

Qi Yulu felt very uncomfortable inside. How many suitors had called her, only to be relentlessly blocked by her... In contrast, Chen Wei’s attitude was just too, too unpleasant.

"I’ve confirmed with my grandfather that you indeed saved my life, that you’re my life-saving benefactor, so I wanted to meet you and express my thanks," Qi Yulu explained her reason for calling.

"I’ve received your sentiment, and that’s enough. If there’s nothing else, I have matters to attend to, so I’ll hang up now."

"Ah?" Chen Wei’s response caught Qi Yulu completely off guard, and she didn’t react in time.

"Goodbye." And then, the line was filled with a busy tone, indicating it had been disconnected.

"Who was that? One of your other senior sisters?" Su Yumei saw Chen Wei hang up the phone and get into the car, casually asking.

"Just a nuisance call," Chen Wei didn’t care to dwell on Qi Yulu’s matter.

Lucky for Qi Yulu, she didn’t have keen hearing; otherwise, hearing those words from Chen Wei’s mouth would likely have made her even more irate.

Now, sitting on the sofa with her chest heaving violently, Qi Yulu clenched her teeth and said, "What gives him the right to be so arrogant? So what if he’s a bit handsome and strong, and knows some medical skills? What’s so great about that!"

"I had the kind intention of thanking him, but how did he respond? He spoke nothing but nonsense! If he doesn’t want to come, then don’t come; if he doesn’t, so be it; it’s as if I’m desperate to press my warm face against his cold ass. Who does he think he is? Mr. Popular? Such a narcissistic jerk!"

Her complaints didn’t stop there. Qi Yulu had never been disregarded by a man in this way before. She had taken the initiative to meet, only to be impatiently rejected by the other party.

If it had been anyone else, they would have come running like a hungry dog.

The more Qi Yulu thought about it, the more unbalanced she felt inside.

And when she remembered the canceled engagement, her annoyance grew even further.

"No, this won’t do! I need to vent somewhere properly. If this keeps up, I’ll certainly explode with rage today!" Qi Yulu got up from the sofa, feeling she could no longer continue in this way.

Chen Wei honestly hadn’t expected that a single sentence could cause her such immense emotional harm.

Considering Qi Yulu’s previous attitude towards him, Chen Wei had always thought she did not want to get involved with him at all. That’s why he felt a little coldness wouldn’t be a problem.

It was still early, so Chen Wei and Su Yumei were not planning to head home right away.

Passing by an area of bright lights and vibrant nightlife, Su Yumei slowed down the car and asked Chen Wei, "Do you want to go in for a drink?"

She mainly thought that since Su Yong’an had been troubling Chen Wei, he must be feeling very down. A couple of drinks might make him feel better.

"Sure." Chen Wei thought Su Yumei wanted to drink and agreed promptly.

Seeing Chen Wei agree, Su Yumei parked the car, and they both entered the bar together.

This wasn’t a quiet bar, and given the time, the place was bustling with people, very lively. The music was thumping ceaselessly, vibrating the air as they entered.

Chen Wei and Su Yumei casually chose a small round table and sat down face to face.

The bartender came over and asked, "What would you like to drink?"

Su Yumei took the drink menu from his hand and picked a set.

Shortly after, when the bartender returned, he had a stack of fruits and a bottle of orange-colored liquor, along with two bottles of iced tea.

Su Yumei, with practiced ease, took a glass, first opened the bottle, poured the liquor into the glass, followed by the iced tea in about a 1:2 ratio, then took two cube-shaped ice cubes from the fruit plate, dropped them in, and handed it to Chen Wei, "Here, senior sister isn’t as talented as you. This is the best I can do."

"As long as it’s something senior sister has made by hand, it’s certainly a unique and excellent liquor in this world," Chen Wei generously lavished her with praise.

Su Yumei smiled faintly, raised her glass, and they clinked, both drinking half a glass.

There was plenty of time; there was no need to down it all in one gulp or to compete in speed.

"It seems that little Wei’s charm really isn’t just for show," Su Yumei suddenly said, leaving Chen Wei utterly confused, "Senior sister, your alcohol tolerance isn’t that bad, right? Why are you talking nonsense?"

"What nonsense?" Su Yumei rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Haven’t you noticed that since you came in, a lot of girls have been looking over here, giggling and whispering about you?"

Su Yumei took another half sip of her drink and continued, "If I weren’t here, do you believe that they would immediately come over to strike up a conversation and ask for your contact information?"

"Believe, why wouldn’t I?" Chen Wei had that much confidence.

He remembered an incident from the past with a famous actress from the Hawk Faction; it seemed he was being bored in the bar alone when she set her sights on him.

She was one of the few women who had mixed in the American and European entertainment industry yet managed to stay decent and uninvolved.

It was this sense of freshness that made Chen Wei not resist much, leading to a truly unforgettable night.

When it came to emotions, she was as pure as a blank sheet of paper.

But at night, she became incredibly wild, at times surpassing Chen Wei.
