Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Honey-Coated Lips

After the blood dripped onto the paper, Chen Wei capped the pen and tucked the Judge Pen back into his inner shirt pocket.

Boom!

The next second, a loud noise erupted as a military off-road vehicle burst through the metal door and drove straight in.

Seven or eight cars followed, one after another. The convoy came to a halt and dozens of men disembarked, led by the newly appointed White Tiger War God, Li Yunhu.

"Yunhu is late and begs the Heavenly God for punishment!" Li Yunhu knelt on one knee with practiced precision, hands clasped in front of him, and bowed deeply.

"Don’t take responsibility for everything; this matter has nothing to do with you, stand up," Chen Wei said, not liking such flattering words.

"Yes," Li Yunhu responded without further comment and stood up.

"I’ll leave these men to you. I have other matters to attend to and must leave now," Chen Wei said as he opened the sports car’s driver door and sat down.

"Then, Heavenly God, in case there are others with ill intentions aiming to attack you, do you need me to assign someone to stay close to ensure your safety?" Li Yunhu asked.

"There’s no need for that; it would only cause unnecessary trouble for me," Chen Wei waved his hand, decisively rejecting the offer.

Chen Wei was well aware of the strength of the White Tiger Army. They might cope with ordinary enemies, but if someone as powerful as him sought revenge, they would only cause him unnecessary hassles. He would have to go out of his way to protect them; better to be a lone wolf.

"Very well, Heavenly God, safe travels," Li Yunhu saluted respectfully, watching as Chen Wei drove away.

Without incident, Chen Wei arrived at the roadside restaurant Su Yumei had told him about...

"What’s the matter? You look quite surprised," said Su Yumei as Chen Wei sat down across from her. She picked up the teapot and poured him a cup of tea into a disposable plastic cup.

"Indeed, I didn’t expect someone like you, Senior Sister, to dine in such a homely place."

The cost of all the dishes here probably wouldn’t even match the price of one dish in a five-star hotel.

"Don’t be like those unscrupulous media, mythologizing me all day for no reason. I’m just an ordinary person. I eat wherever the food is good; I don’t need to be in a five-star hotel to enjoy my meal," she said.

No sooner had Yumei finished speaking than the restaurant owner came over with a menu in hand.

Through their conversation, Chen Wei learned that Su Yumei was a regular customer here and was very familiar with the owner’s family.

"Wei, don’t judge by its size; the food here is really good. It’s quite famous around this area, comparable to those two-star, three-star Michelin places," Su Yumei said, then looked around cautiously to make sure no one was listening and added in a whisper, "Though, of course, it can’t compare with you."

"But overall, the taste is still excellent."

Hearing this, Chen Wei replied, "Actually, what we eat doesn’t matter as much as who we eat with. As long as I’m having a meal with you, Senior Sister, the flavor of the food automatically enhances tenfold, a hundredfold, a thousandfold."

"You sweet-talker, you must have stolen some honey before coming here," Yumei said with a charming smile that moved hearts.

"I’m just being honest, Senior Sister, you better believe it."

Just then, the restaurant owner brought over a bottle of red drink and two glass cups. "Here, Yumei, and young man, have some sour plum drink to cool off in this heat."

"Thank you, Auntie Yang," Su Yumei said, taking the glass cups with both hands.

"By the way! Yumei, he’s your boyfriend, isn’t he?"

At these words, Su Yumei immediately blushed and said, "Auntie Yang, you’re mistaken, he’s not my boyfriend, he’s my junior brother!"

"Is that so? I thought you two seemed well-matched. Well, I’ll let you two chat. I’ll go help your uncle in the kitchen and get your dishes out soon."

"Mhm," Su Yumei nodded in agreement.

"Senior Sister, do we really make a good match?" Chen Wei found the perfect moment to tease.

"Do you believe I’ll throw this glass at you?" Su Yumei raised the glass in her hand and threatened fiercely.

She knew Chen Wei was deliberately teasing her.

However, her attempt at looking fierce not only failed to be threatening but ended up being strangely adorable.

"I was wrong, senior sister," Chen Wei conceded as soon as he saw an opportunity.

"Good to know you realize your mistake. Daring to tease your senior sister, it looks like you need a beating every three days to fix your behaviour!" Su Yumei put down the glass, humming proudly.

Soon, the food was served.

The proprietress told Su Yumei and Chen Wei to eat and drink well, to call her anytime if they needed anything, and then she busied herself with other customers.

It was now noon, and the restaurant’s clientele gradually increased.

"Let’s start eating, don’t just sit there," Su Yumei removed the sanitary sleeve from her chopsticks and said to Chen Wei.

"Okay," Chen Wei removed the sanitary sleeve, picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of wood ear stir-fried with meat, and tasted it. His eyes lit up, "This flavor is indeed better than I imagined; no wonder there are so many customers."

This wasn’t flattery for Su Yumei but just him speaking the truth.

"Right? Would I, as your senior sister, deceive you?" Su Yumei was relieved that Chen Wei was satisfied.

She was worried he might not like her taste in food.

Thankfully, she was right on the mark.

Chen Wei ate bowl after bowl, downing three large ones in total.

He then put down his bowl and chopsticks, patting his stomach, "I’m full, I’m full, if I eat any more, my stomach is going to burst."

Su Yumei was about to speak when she was interrupted by a gruff male voice, "Yang Fanghui, Zhao Zhiqun, get the hell out here for me!"

Chen Wei looked back and saw a group of punks, full of swagger, with multi-colored hair, decked out in gold and silver, probably afraid of not being noticeable enough.

"Senior sister, do you know what they are doing here?" Chen Wei asked.

"They’re probably sent by the landlord to cause trouble," Su Yumei shared what she had heard from Yang Fanghui.

It turned out that before this place became a main road, Yang Fanghui and the landlord had renewed their contract for three years. No one expected that in just one year, it would become a main road and an area key to economic development.

Naturally, property prices soared. Seeing the potential for profit, the landlord wanted to cash in and evict Yang Fanghui and her husband Zhao Zhiqun by demanding more money.

The couple, of course, wouldn’t agree.

With the contract in hand, the landlord couldn’t sue them in court because the landlord was in breach of contract first. This much self-awareness the landlord still had.

So the landlord came up with a crooked plan, every now and then hiring some social riffraff to disrupt their business.

The idea was that if the business was ruined and no one came to eat, Yang Fanghui and Zhao Zhiqun would willingly leave. Who would want to run a business at a loss?

"That landlord is really shameless," Chen Wei couldn’t stand such people.

"What are you eating! Everybody get lost! Or else watch me chop you all to death!" The ruffian boss Zhao Qingdong strutted into the store with his underlings, swinging his fists, looking fierce.

Customers didn’t want to get into trouble and chose to leave one after another.

In a blink, only Chen Wei and Su Yumei were left seated at their table.
