Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Li Feier is Poisoned
"If I said I’m the Guardian God of Great Xia, would you believe me?" Chen Wei joked half-seriously, "Since I’m the guardian, if they want to kill me, wouldn’t that make them traitors?"
"The Guardian God of Great Xia..." Li Feier couldn’t say she didn’t have her doubts—that would be a lie.
But she didn’t completely disbelieve him either; after all, the way Chen Wei just displayed his killing skills, it didn’t seem like anything an ordinary person could do.
What ordinary person has such means? If he were in ancient times, he’d certainly be a Great General, and on the battlefield, he would leave a trail of bodies for thousands of miles!
"It’s okay if you don’t believe it, just know that I’m the good guy and they’re the bad guys," Chen Wei said with a smile.
"If you put it that way, then I understand." Li Feier followed with a smile.
She really didn’t think of Chen Wei as a bad person. Even if he were a bad person to others, to Li Feier, he truly did help her break through her creative bottleneck.
"Sir, Miss, our shop is having a promotion today, giving away free mini cacti. Would you like one?" Out of the blue, a man carrying a bamboo basket approached them.
The basket was filled with mini cacti of various colors.
The man offered one to each, handing them to Chen Wei and Li Feier.
"How cute, I want one." Li Feier reached out to take it.
"Sorry! We don’t want it." Chen Wei restrained her hand, deciding for both of them.
"It’s free, just take one anyway, it doesn’t cost anything." The man squinted his eyes with a rigid smile, insistent on Chen Wei and Li Feier accepting the mini cactus.
"We do not need it! Scram!" Chen Wei’s gaze turned icy.
Startled, the man froze for a few seconds before complaining, "If you don’t want it, then don’t; what’s with the hostility!"
"Ouch!" With poor acting, he fell to the ground in a feigned tumble, sending the basket of mini cacti flying towards Chen Wei and Li Feier.
Chen Wei swiftly knocked the mini cacti aside.
Seeing Chen Wei pricked by the cactus spikes, the man’s face revealed a cold and sinister smile, "Now, you are dead for sure."
"I’m dead for sure?" Chen Wei plucked the cactus spines from his hand, showing not a trace of the panic he should have felt.
"These mini cacti were specially cultivated by me, even a single prick and the toxin in them will make you suffer unbearable pain, and within half an hour, you’ll be dead with your bowels ruptured! A gruesome death indeed!" The man didn’t mind talking a bit more to a man about to die.
"You’re very confident in your poisoning skills?" Chen Wei asked, as a Silver Needle silently appeared between his fingertips.
"I may not match you in charging into battle, but when it comes to poisoning, with all due modesty, I’m probably three or four stories above you," the man grew increasingly unable to hide his excitement, "To think that the Heavenly God of Protecting the Country is about to die by my hand—spread the word, and my fame will surely explode everywhere, right?"
"Heavenly God of Protecting the Country!" If it weren’t for the fact that her mind was already beginning to fog, Li Feier would really suspect that Chen Wei was putting on a play with the man to impress her, just to build up a Guardian God image.
"Unfortunately, just like this bamboo basket, your wish is ultimately nothing but a wasted effort."
"What!" By the time the man realized something was amiss, the Silver Needle had already struck his throat.
"Ugh!" He could still breathe but, as someone who prided himself on his expertise in poisons, he knew all too well that the Silver Needle was poisoned with something unknown and extraordinary!
"What, what poison is this! In just a few seconds, it’s already penetrated my viscera!" The man spit out blood, his teeth pale in the bloodstained flow, his voice unclear and garbled.
Without close attention, it was impossible to discern what he was actually trying to say.
"You consider yourself a master of poisons and yet you don’t even know of Nine-Insect Powder?" Chen Wei said coldly with a smile.
"Nine-Insect Powder! Isn’t that one of the ten great lost poisons!" Upon hearing the words Nine-Insect Powder, the man’s heart shook tremendously, and he suddenly realized why he had not seen the slightest hint of panic or fear on Chen Wei’s face from beginning to end.
It turned out that he had never taken his own poison skills seriously.
The man wanted to ask more about who exactly Chen Wei was when he was suddenly struck by the poison in his heart and fell to the ground, dead.
"With such mediocre skills, to boast so arrogantly, claiming to be three or four levels above me? Ridiculous." On the battlefield, the number of enemies Chen Wei had poisoned to death numbers in the millions if not tens of millions; how could he possibly take such petty tricks seriously?
"It’s okay now, let’s go," Chen Wei said, turning to Li Feier.
"Okay," Li Feier agreed, her forehead covered in cold sweat, her lips pale, and her breath faint.
She looked fragile as if plagued by a serious illness, possibly on the verge of fainting at any moment.
"When were you poisoned?" Chen Wei noticed something was wrong and quickly inquired about her condition.
"Just now, when those miniature cactuses fell, I felt like my ankle was touched, a prickling sensation," Li Feier replied, focusing on answering Chen Wei’s question while her consciousness was still clear.
"How far is your house from here..." Before he could finish his question, Chen Wei bent down, picked up Li Feier from the ground in a princess carry, and then made the decision for her, "Nevermind, we should go to a hotel instead. We must expel the poison from your body as quickly as possible."
The poison that wrenched the gut, though fatal in half an hour, each second spared was irreversibly damaging to the internal organs!
In the prime of her life, Chen Wei did not want Li Feier to suffer lifelong complications because of him.
He hurried to a nearby hotel, completed the check-in process, and entered the elevator.
Upon reaching the door of the room, he used the room card to open it.
First, he placed Li Feier onto the bed, then went to the bathroom to run hot water.
Then he returned to the room, looked at Li Feier, who lay soft on the bed, completely at his mercy, and administered a needle first to stabilize her mind.
"So, next I need to put you in hot water to speed up your blood circulation, then detoxify you with Silver Needle. However, we’ll have to take off some of these outer clothes. Of course, you don’t need to take off the innermost ones," Chen Wei said.
No sooner had Chen Wei finished speaking than he saw Li Feier’s eyes become dazed, and she nodded lightly, softly uttering a word of agreement.
"My apologies!" Chen Wei bent over, reached for the zipper at the top of Li Feier’s tracksuit, and swiftly unzipped it all the way down.
He then removed the short-sleeved shirt inside that had a rascal bear print on it.
Next were the pants.
After doing all this, he once again picked up Li Feier and headed to the bathroom.
He gently lowered her into the tub filled with hot water, inch by inch, from head to toe.
Splash!
Excess hot water spilled over the edge.
Chen Wei did not turn off the shower but instead activated the tub’s heat retention function, because the water temperature could not be allowed to drop.
"Bear with it a bit, I’m going to start the acupuncture," he said as a reminder, knowing full well that Li Feier didn’t have the strength to respond to him at the moment.
Using the Silver Needle from head to toe, Chen Wei began to puncture in sequence. Although the water was in the way, it was not enough to trouble him—after all, he was not named Medical Saint, Medical Immortal for nothing.
