Chapter 216: Chapter 216 What’s Your Name?

"Oh?" Chen Wei had a completely distrustful look on his face, "If you think you can do it, by all means, try."

"As for who you are?" He chuckled, "I really couldn’t care less."

"You! You’re arrogant!" The director was so angry that his face turned red and his neck swelled, feeling very uncomfortable being treated this way by Chen Wei.

Immediately, he began to reveal his background, "Do you know JM Entertainment? It’s one of the top two in the industry, and I’m a signed director there! Offending me is the same as offending JM Entertainment. You know what the consequences will be, right?"

The director began to feel smug, waiting for Chen Wei to apologize and admit his mistake of his own accord.

If Chen Wei was willing to cooperate and redo the scene, the director wasn’t against forgiving his ignorant mistake.

He considered himself to be magnanimous, a modern-day Prime Minister, capable of holding a ship in his belly.

"JM Entertainment?" Upon hearing these four words, Chen Wei couldn’t help feeling a sense of irony— the world was indeed very small.

He had casually encountered an arrogant director who happened to be an employee of the company he had just bought.

"That’s right! JM Entertainment! Now you know to be afraid, don’t you?" The director stood tall and proud, his arrogant demeanor suggesting that to those who knew he was a signed director with JM Entertainment, others might mistakenly think he owned JM Entertainment.

Chen Wei didn’t say anything and simply took out his phone, found Liu Meng, his Sixth Senior Sister, in the contacts list, and gave her a call.

"Hello, what made you suddenly think to call me?" The call was quickly connected, and from the other end of the line came Liu Meng’s voice, clear and tinkling like a silver bell.

"Senior Sister, where are you right now? I need your help with someone."

"Who do you need help with? Let me ask..." Chen Wei put down the phone and turned his gaze back to the director, asking, "By the way, what’s your name?"

Scare me?

The director did not believe in such nonsense. He had directed so many plays and was confident that he could see right through Chen Wei’s lies, convinced that Chen Wei was just bluffing to scare him.

So he boldly stated his name, "Listen up, you might even have seen the plays I’ve directed, you might be a fan—Cao Weihong!"

After hearing this, Chen Wei’s expression revealed neither surprise nor pleasure. He picked up his phone and repeated the three words indifferently, "Cao Weihong."

After making sure Liu Meng had heard him clearly, Chen Wei hung up the call.

Just as Cao Weihong was about to open his mouth to chide Chen Wei for not knowing when to stop, for wasting his time, a ringtone from his pocket followed.

"Wait, I’ll settle the score with you in a moment." Cao took out his phone, intending to hang up, but his attitude changed instantly when he saw the caller ID read "Brother Liu."

He answered the call with a sycophantic smile, "Eh! Brother Liu, it’s me, Cao. You’re such a busy man, what made you think to call me all of a sudden?"

"Alright, you talk, and I’m listening."

Suddenly, Cao Weihong’s face turned visibly uglier; his smile completely froze and vanished, "What? I’ve been fired? Brother Liu, there must be some mistake, right? I’ve been in the company for so many years, always diligent. Why would I be fired? You must have made a mistake."

"Hello? Hello! Hello!" The other person couldn’t be bothered to explain and simply hung up the call, leaving Cao’s calls unanswered, no matter how much he shouted.

Cao Weihong, still not giving up, tried to call back to ask the HR manager Liu for clarification, only to be informed by an automated message that he had been blacklisted.

"..." Cao Weihong was in complete disarray, not understanding what he had done wrong.

His face showed innocence, as if he had been wronged.

Could it be because of him!

Cao Weihong had a feeling that things weren’t that simple. Chen Wei had hung up just a second before, and he had been fired immediately after. No matter how coincidental, it couldn’t be this coincidental, could it?

"It was you! You did this, didn’t you? Senior sister, right, your senior sister is a top executive in our company, isn’t she!" Upon thinking this, Cao Weihong felt that everything could be explained.

"Are you sure you want to continue staying here and pestering me?" Chen Wei asked only one question.

"..." Merely by his aura, he intimidated Cao Weihong into swallowing all the words he had planned to say back down.

He didn’t understand Chen Wei, and if this guy had some terrifying background that could ruin his life in River City, it would be a loss not worth the gain.

Reluctantly, Cao Weihong left, but he had no other choice.

Once he was sure that Chen Wei didn’t follow, he stopped a passing waiter, borrowed a mobile phone, checked the number, and called Manager Liu in Human Resources again.

"Hey! Manager Liu, I’m not calling to ask you to plead for mercy on my behalf, indeed, I deserve what’s coming to me. But, whether it’s drowning, murder, or an accident, you have to let me die knowing why, don’t you?" Cao Weihong quickly spoke to stop the person from hanging up.

After a lot of cajoling and pleading, seeing as they were old friends, Manager Liu finally told Cao Weihong everything he knew.

"What! You’re saying the person who wants to fire me is the chairman, who personally ordered my immediate dismissal and declared that I will never be hired again!"

Without saying more, the call was abruptly ended once again.

Cao Weihong returned the phone to the waiter, "Thank you."

Then he started to piece together the information he had at hand; Chen Wei made a call to someone he called ’senior sister,’ and right after that, he was dismissed by Human Resources, on an order personally given by the chairman.

Could it be that the chairman is the ’senior sister’ he mentioned!

Wait a minute!

At that moment, Cao Weihong suddenly remembered that the current chairman is Liu Meng, who had only taken office recently. Even if there would be a new official lighting three fires, these fires should not, by all accounts, have spread to him.

The more Cao Weihong thought about it, the more terrified he became.

He thought about the possibility that Chen Wei might be the tycoon who made a huge move to acquire JM Entertainment!

Indeed, he had heard that there was some relationship between that person and Liu Meng, and that he was very young...

If that were the case, then everything would make clear sense.

Not surprising, not surprising at all.

"Turns out that after all this time, the clown has been myself," Cao Weihong said with a bitter smile.

Now that Cao Weihong had guessed Chen Wei’s probable identity, where would he dare to pester him? Just losing a job and not his life, he was already feeling profoundly grateful.

Liu Mi also found out about Chen Wei’s impulsive acquisition of JM Entertainment only later from Su Yumei.

Surprised, very surprised.

Liu Mi always knew that there was a mysterious veil around Chen Wei, and that revealing it would expose more heart-shocking matters.

But the truth was far more terrifying and astonishing than she had imagined.

That godsend tycoon was none other than Chen Wei.

Liu Mi didn’t think it would be Su Yumei who helped Chen Wei with all these endeavors behind the scenes, simply because as her secretary, she would know if the company suddenly had such a large amount of money moving around; at the very least, she wouldn’t be completely unaware.

In other words, all this was Chen Wei’s personal handiwork!
