Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Step Forward, Bear the Consequences Yourself! Third Update
"I didn’t expect there to actually be a VIP lounge," Su Yumei initially thought that the staff would lead her and Chen Wei to the audience seats. With some connections, they might get seats closer to the front for a clearer view.
But to her surprise, they ended up in a private box on the second floor, with two solid wood chairs set up near the railing, old-fashioned and elegant. Sitting there, one could clearly overlook the entire first floor.
"We owe this to your status as the first female CEO," Chen Wei said.
"No, no, no, it’s all thanks to my junior’s superior skills. Didn’t you see? That guy only had admiration left in his eyes after seeing your work."
"Sister, are you starting a mutual admiration business conversation with me?" Chen Wei laughed.
"You’re extraordinary indeed; there’s no need for flattery," Su Yumei took her seat and spoke with no hint of jest in her tone; she was serious.
Chen Wei also sat down, "Everyone’s not here yet; it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer."
"The event is expected to start in half an hour. Afterwards, I’ll arrange for fruits and snacks to be sent up. If the two honored guests need anything else, just give your orders; I’ll be waiting outside," a staff member interjected.
"Alright, thank you; I’ll call you if needed," Chen Wei replied with a gesture.
"It’s all part of the job," the staff member said before turning to leave.
Soon, plates of fruit, sunflower seeds, peanuts, nuts, and other snacks were brought to the table, along with the high-quality East Lake Fengjing Tea.
Chen Wei didn’t hold back; he felt like eating some nuts.
Seeing him digging in, Su Yumei grabbed a small handful herself. She nibbled them with her pearly teeth until each was finely crushed before swallowing, patiently waiting for the exhibition to start.
Before long, from outside the door came the argument between the staff member they had just met and someone else.
"I’m very sorry, Young Master Yang, but you can’t enter, this box is already occupied," said the staff member.
"What do you mean? Whichever box I want to go to is already taken, isn’t it? I think you’re just deliberately opposing me! You’re not taking me seriously!" Yang Muyun retorted angrily.
"Young Master Yang, you didn’t make a reservation in advance, and we didn’t know you would be coming, so we didn’t keep a box for you. Now all the boxes are taken. How about this, I’ll arrange for you to sit in the front row?" the staff member offered.
"What! You want me to sit with those lower-class people? To smell their sweat odors? Dream on! I’m telling you, I had someone check today, six is my lucky number, and I want this box no matter what, get those people out of there! If that doesn’t work, just use my name, Yang Muyun, it’s sure to scare them off immediately."
"Young Master Yang, there’s really no precedent for such a thing," the staff member hesitated.
"If there isn’t, then create one! Move aside!" Yang Muyun completely lost his patience. He didn’t want to waste his time with a minion and lower his status.
Usually, such obstacle dogs he wouldn’t even spare a second glance, letting the bodyguards shoo them away directly.
Today, there were some relations between the event organizer and his father, so he hadn’t made a big fuss. Who would have thought that these people would be so unaccommodating!
Yang Muyun didn’t instruct anyone to beat up the staff member, which was already considering the owner of the dog.
Pushing the staff member aside forcibly with his hand, Yang Muyun pushed open the doors of the box with both hands.
As the door opened and before his foot could be raised to step inside, Chen Wei’s voice came through, "Dare to step inside, and you’ll be responsible for the consequences."
"Scaring me? You think I, Yang Muyun, am scared of threats?" Upon hearing Chen Wei’s warning, Yang Muyun was not at all afraid; he wanted to see if Chen Wei really had the guts to offend him.
Just like Yang Muyun said, he wasn’t raised to be scared!
He raised his foot and stepped into the door, displaying a smug and triumphant look, "I’ve stepped in; how do you want to make me ’responsible for the consequences’..."
Bang!
Boom!
No one saw what happened, only a gust of wind struck their faces.
In the blink of an eye, Yang Muyun, who should have been in front of them, magically disappeared out of thin air.
"Ouch... ouch..."
It was only when they heard the groan of pain and looked toward the source that they discovered Yang Muyun had collapsed under the wall on the other side of the corridor.
"I said, dare to take one more step and you’ll bear the consequences."
Upon hearing the voice, a chill ran down everyone’s spine, as Chen Wei seemed ghost-like, appearing silently beside them.
Each of them wondered, when exactly did this guy get here?
Just a second ago, he was clearly sitting by the railing, at least twenty or thirty meters away from the gate. Not even an Olympic athlete could be that fast!
"You actually dared to lay hands on him, do you know who he is!" A lackey, regaining his composure, questioned Chen Wei.
"Does it matter?" Chen Wei turned to look at him.
The lackey felt as though he was no different than a dead man in Chen Wei’s indifferent gaze.
"Of course, it matters! This is Yang Muyun, the son of Yang Zhuoxian. If you’ve injured him, Yang Zhuoxian won’t let you off! He will tear you to pieces!"
To the lackey’s threat, Chen Wei had only one response, "Are you fighting or not? If not, get lost!"
Fearing Chen Wei’s aura, after a dozen seconds had passed, the lackey didn’t even have the courage to utter half a word.
"It seems you don’t have the guts," Chen Wei said as he raised both hands, grabbed the doors, and slammed them shut with a bang.
"Next time you think about forcing your way in, think carefully, I won’t always be so gentle," Chen Wei warned.
That was being gentle?
If it weren’t for the pain that made it impossible to speak, Yang Muyun really wanted to retort to Chen Wei. He felt like he had at least three or four broken ribs!
"Useless! What do I have you for? Why didn’t you act just now?"
The lackey helped Yang Muyun up, responding with grievance, "Young Master Yang, I definitely couldn’t beat him. If I had acted just now, who would be taking you to the hospital, right?"
"To hell with the hospital! Call my dad now, say that someone beat me up! If he doesn’t bring people over soon, his son is going to be crippled!" Yang Muyun couldn’t understand how with his brilliant mind he ended up with such a stupid lackey.
"Yes, Young Master Yang." The lackey didn’t dare talk back to Yang Muyun and, carefully setting him down, took out a cell phone from his chest, unlocked it with facial recognition, opened the contact list, found the word "Dad," and made the call.
All of this didn’t escape Chen Wei’s ears.
Not to mention Chen Wei, even Su Yumei could hear them loud and clear, their voices were simply too loud.
"Hiss! These two really don’t know they’re in trouble until they see the coffin!" Chen Wei didn’t want to spoil the mood for himself and Su Yumei because of two small fries.
But this time, just as he was about to stand up, Su Yumei grabbed his hand, shook her head, and said, "Don’t bother with them. They can handle this themselves; there’s no need for you to waste your breath or strength on such people. They’re not worth it."
"Alright, I’ll listen to Senior Sister," Chen Wei didn’t insist, sitting back down. Since Su Yumei had spoken, he naturally trusted her unconditionally.
Who could he doubt? He certainly couldn’t doubt his most beloved Senior Sister.
From childhood to adulthood, Su Yumei had never broken a promise to Chen Wei, not even once.
