Chapter 143: Chapter 143 Accident Occurs! Second Update

The fashion show officially commenced.

Seeing Chen Wei stare intently at the stage, Su Yumei’s face revealed a triumphant smile, "What do you think? Sister didn’t lie to you, right? Aren’t they all beautiful? Tell sister which one you like, and I’ll help you win her over."

She patted her chest confidently, as if she wouldn’t rest until she had gotten a girl for Chen Wei.

"Sister, you’ve got it all wrong, I was just looking at the finished product of the clothes I designed," Chen Wei calmly clarified.

"..." After a moment of silence, Su Yumei parted her cherry-blossom-colored lips again and tentatively asked, "Wei, you haven’t lost interest in women, have you?"

"How could that be? Sister, I just wanted to simply check the quality of the finished garments. Don’t misunderstand me," Chen Wei said with a wry smile.

He was worried that if Su Yumei continued to misunderstand like this, he wouldn’t just appear uninterested in women; he’d seem uninterested in the whole human race.

"I’m just worried about you," Su Yumei pouted.

Mm!

Suddenly, Su Yumei’s eyebrows knitted together, and she asked Chen Wei, "Wei, did you hear any unusual sounds?"

No sooner had her words fallen when Chen Wei suddenly stood up and dashed toward the stage at a rapid pace.

The large movement, combined with his nearly two-meter leap onto the runway, made it hard not to draw attention.

At this moment, they all noticed his presence.

"What’s he planning to do?"

"Where did this lunatic come from? Security! Where’s security?"

"Could it be that the kid can’t contain himself after seeing those beautiful models and wants to attack them?"

"Shh! Don’t talk nonsense, he’s the one who came with President Su."

"President Su? Which President Su?"

"Which other President Su if not Su Yumei!"

...

Don’t say they were confused; even Su Yumei, one of the people who knew Chen Wei best, couldn’t understand his intentions for doing this.

"President Su, what’s he doing?" Liu Mi asked in a panicked tone.

She was afraid that Chen Wei would ruin the entire fashion show.

Everything had been going so smoothly, and everyone had been in the zone. Chen Wei’s disturbance caused them to break character on the spot!

Getting back into the zone would definitely affect their scores.

But then Liu Mi thought that Chen Wei wasn’t the type to act impulsively without reason. There had to be a reason behind his actions.

As for what that reason was?

How could Liu Mi possibly know? She could only continue to watch attentively.

Boom!

Immediately after, a loud noise came from above.

The audience looked up to see a huge spotlight had fallen halfway, held only by a single rope showing signs of snapping at any moment.

And below it, a model was standing, oblivious to the danger.

"Above! Be careful!"

It was the shouting from the audience that prompted the model to slowly raise her head, just in time to see the rope snap, and the spotlight come crashing down.

"Ah!" She screamed, terrified into falling to the ground.

Run!

’Run’ was the only thought in the model’s mind, but her body wouldn’t respond. She just sat there, frozen.

A figure suddenly appeared before them.

With both hands raised, he supported the spotlight above him, his knees slightly bent, buffering the descent before quickly standing upright again.

With a forceful swing of his arms to the side, he hurled the spotlight away.

"Are you all right?" asked Chen Wei, extending his hand to the woman.

Considering her dazed expression, he thought she might not understand Chinese and so repeated the question in Hawk Faction language.

"Thank you," the woman grabbed Chen Wei’s hand, responding in fluent Great Xia language, even more so than Chen Wei had expected.

Her perfect Great Xia diction, paired with her blonde hair and blue eyes, struck him as strange, although he couldn’t quite put his finger on why.

Suddenly, the staff arrived on stage to remove the spotlight.

It took three of them to move the spotlight. Deep inside, they wondered if Chen Wei possessed Divine Power, for how he caught it falling from such a height and remained unscathed afterward like nothing had happened.

Because there were no casualties, the incident was quickly resolved, and the fashion show continued.

Ten minutes passed, and Su Yumei had yet to see Chen Wei return. She murmured under her breath, "Could it be he’s gone on a date with that blonde model?"

Thinking about it, she thought, "How romantic it is to play the hero saving a damsel in distress; falling for her at first sight is quite normal."

"Sister, don’t let your imagination run wild," Chen Wei’s voice suddenly interrupted.

Su Yumei turned her head and saw him returning to his seat.

"Where did you go?" Su Yumei asked with concern.

Chen Wei, playing coy, raised his hand and pointed upwards.

"Upstairs?"

"No," Chen Wei shook his head, "Above."

"Above?" It took a moment for Su Yumei to realize that Chen Wei meant the steel frames above their heads. "What were you doing up there? It’s so dangerous. What if you had fallen down?"

"Don’t worry, I’m perfectly fine, aren’t I? I went up there to check," Chen Wei explained.

"To check?" Su Yumei began to feel that the matter wasn’t as simple as she had thought.

"Yes," Chen Wei nodded affirmatively and elaborated, "I discovered it wasn’t an accident. Someone deliberately unscrewed the bolts fixing the spotlight to create a mishap."

"Who has such audacity to commit such an atrocious act here!" Su Yumei exclaimed furiously upon learning that the "accident" was deliberately orchestrated.

"I don’t know yet, but I’ve got someone looking into it. We should have the results soon," Chen Wei reassured Su Yumei, adding that he had meticulously checked the other spotlights, which were all secure, ensuring no further incidents would occur.

Though he appeared calm on the surface, internally, he was already prepared for action.

For those daring to trouble his beloved teacher and sister, Chen Wei would show no mercy! They must pay the price!

Afterward, as Chen Wei had said, the fashion show went on smoothly.

During the show, a staff member approached Chen Wei. After excusing himself to Su Yumei, he stepped aside with the staff member.

Soon after, they found themselves in the surveillance room.

"Mr. Chen, we discovered this person left the scene abruptly before the accident and acted very suspiciously," said the staff member, pointing to the paused image on the monitor screen.

"He was wearing a hat, with a mask too, so we couldn’t identify his face," the staff member added.

"If I remember correctly, your invitations are named, aren’t they? Each person can only get one, and you need to verify your identity upon entry?" Chen Wei inquired.

"Yes," the staff member nodded, confirming Chen Wei’s statement.

"Then, has anyone been replaced by someone else to attend? Check that for me, and give me the guest list," instructed Chen Wei.

"Alright, I’ll get someone on it right away."

Seven or eight minutes later.

Chen Wei received the list from the staff member: it included three people, one woman and two men, all attending with someone else’s invitation.
