Chapter 400: Chapter 400: I Want to Blast Them into the Sky
Liuli Hong was getting anxious; Lu Xiao was about to court death again.
"Can’t you pick a safer place?"
"This is so close, one missile, and we’re done for."
"Let’s move, at least get out of this mountain."
As he spoke, Liuli Hong went to grab Lu Xiao.
The night sky reverberated with the sound of genuine weapons of mass destruction soaring past. If one were to land nearby, even Chen Fei probably couldn’t block it.
This was mountain terrain, without much metal for Chen Fei to manipulate.
Even if you used that jeep to build a wall, it would be useless, too little material to block anything.
Plus, the explosive force generated by these things is much more terrifying than our Super Tier, a direct hit and Chen Fei’s superpower might just dissipate.
If superpowers dissipate, then Mutant Abilities naturally couldn’t be sustained either.
"Don’t worry, it won’t reach us," Lu Xiao comforted Liuli Hong.
The old man was quite fear-conscious at his age.
"What if it does?"
Lu Xiao rolled his eyes, if you’re going to talk like that, then I might just stop dealing with you.
We came here to risk our lives, and that means accepting the risks of possibly getting knocked out or counter-killed, right?
Liuli Hong apparently realized his issue and took several deep breaths, then settled down next to Lu Xiao.
"Indeed, comfort breeds complacency. It’s been too long since I faced life or death, to get flustered by a few missiles," Liuli Hong shook his head and chuckled bitterly.
Since entering Fourth Rank, he had lived domestically.
Given the domestic security, let alone life-threatening danger, there is scarcely any risk.
It was only after Lu Xiao joined the Seventeenth Bureau that some ripples started to appear.
But to say ripples might be an exaggeration, it was more like splashes; a bunch of Third-stage Mutants showing up probably doesn’t even count as trouble.
"By the way, can we really catch anyone by squatting here?" Liuli Hong turned his head to ask Lu Xiao.
The mountain was neither too big nor too small, and there were more paths than just this one.
"Don’t know, I hope so," Lu Xiao shrugged, having done everything he could; as for the outcome, it really depended on luck.
The explosives in the underground tunnel likely wouldn’t kill Roberts.
Roberts would definitely come back out the same way from the villa, but predicting which direction he would flee was truly impossible.
Of course, if you’re not afraid of dying, you could wait in front of the villa.
But who knows if going there might involve being blown away by a barrage from High Court.
Although he really wanted to kill Roberts, if it meant gambling with his own life, he would rather not.
...
In the underground tunnel, listening to the bombardments above, Roberts felt a lingering fear.
He had almost been done for.
Thankfully, the people from High Court had some humanity and had sent a warning before bombing.
If it hadn’t been for that alert, he and everyone involved in the Divine Light Plan would have been obliterated.
Block a missile barrage? Don’t joke.
"Everyone, to Exit 2, move quickly!" Roberts ran ahead, a cold smirk of madness on his face.
Lu Xiao knew about the exit of the underground tunnel in the Superpower Alliance.
Since Lu Xiao knew, he would likely intercept there.
Soon, it would be seen whether he could lure Lu Xiao into the underground tunnel.
The tunnel was engineered with a self-destruct system during construction; once activated, the tunnel would collapse in no time.
Even a Super Tier couldn’t possibly survive such a collapse.
Of course, during the tunnel’s destruction, there were a few safe points.
As the head of the Divine Light Plan, he certainly knew where they were.
So, if he could lure Lu Xiao, Chen Fei, and Liuli Hong inside, he could pull off a massive turnaround.
...
"Ten minutes, that should be about enough." Under the big tree at the foot of the mountain, Lu Xiao glanced at his phone, then dialed Edson’s number.
"Mr. Lu Xiao, just completed, feel free to detonate," Edson’s voice came through.
A smile spread across Lu Xiao’s face; Edson was quite efficient.
He really knew how to ingratiate himself.
"Then, detonate it."
"Got it."
Seconds later, Lu Xiao heard a thunderous rumbling from beneath the ground.
"Lu Xiao, what’s that sound? Sounds like it’s coming from underground, High Court isn’t planning to blow up the whole mountain, are they?" Liuli Hong jumped up.
"It’s not High Court, it’s me," Lu Xiao grinned, "I’m the one sending them flying."
Liuli Hong was stunned for a few seconds, then seemed to realize something.
"So there’s a tunnel under that villa, you were in there planting explosives just now?"
"Bingo!" Lu Xiao snapped his fingers, Old Luli’s mind was pretty sharp.
Except that I wasn’t the one who physically planted the explosives, you guessed pretty much everything else.
"So, calling out Strategy S01, that was part of the plan too?"
"Strategy S01 was to make everyone from the Divine Light Plan retreat to the tunnel, right?"
"Lure all of them in and then completely ambush them... Tsk!"
As Liuli Hong spoke, he looked at Lu Xiao, his aged eyes filled with amazement and relief.
Amazed by Lu Xiao’s tactics, and relieved that Lu Xiao wasn’t an enemy.
