Chapter 72: Demonic Eye!
Chapter 72: Demonic Eye!
Bang!
The young maidservant was violently slammed to the ground by Chai Lie, and her bones nearly shattered.
“Child, are you alright?” a strange voice echoed in her ears.
She looked up, and what greeted her was a shriveled face covered in liver spots. The face was dry and sunken like that of a rat spirit, radiating a deathly qi. The terrified maidservant instinctively tried to crawl backward, but found herself completely unable to move.
A cold, shriveled hand caressed her cheek, making her body tremble uncontrollably. Then, a black arm formed of condensed dark qi emerged from the withered old rat-faced man, gently pulling the maidservant toward him. Then, the courtyard gate closed shut, as if sealed by an invisible force.
Within the yard, the sound of a woman’s piercing, despair-filled screams rang out before blood qi began to spread.

“Daoist Master Yanchu, this is the courtyard where my sister-in-law lives... Eh? Why is the gate shut tight?”
“Could it be... they already escaped?”
When the Feng family descendant led Li Yanchu to Madam Feng’s residence, his eyes widened in shock. The courtyard gate was firmly closed, blocking everyone outside.
Li Yanchu said in a low voice, “The entire Feng residence is in chaos. Even if Madam Feng hadn’t tried to flee, there’s no reason for the gate to be sealed shut like this. And there are no messy footprints outside either.”
He activated his Qi Sight to examine the courtyard, and his gaze immediately darkened. The courtyard was overflowing with blood qi and vengeful qi, which surged skyward like a pillar. The vengeful qi here was far stronger than anywhere else in the Feng residence.
“Something’s happened!” With a sharp clang, Li Yanchu drew the Jiaoslayer.
Boom!
The courtyard gate was instantly shattered by a flash of saber light. With his saber in hand and a qi shield surrounding his entire body, Li Yanchu charged in like a fierce wolf or tiger.
Inside the courtyard, the black-robed elder was holding the corpse of a young woman, different from the maidservant from earlier.
On the other side, a beautiful noblewoman dressed in elegant clothes was as pale as a ghost, her face drained of color. A maid armed with a longsword stood in front of her, shielding her.
Meanwhile, two more maidservants cowered to the side trembling uncontrollably, seemingly scared out of their wits and their faces ghostly pale.
The sword-wielding maid was covered in blood, and her weapon was already snapped by some unknown force. Her face showed a look of grim resolve, as if she was prepared to die.
Chai Lie, the burly man, stood at ease while staring hungrily at everyone before him, his eyes blazing with heat.
Just then, Li Yanchu burst in. Without a word, he swung his saber straight at the black-robed elder. He was as swift as lightning; one flash of the saber and he was already in front of the elder!
Clang!
Chai Lie reacted in an instant, bringing his tiger-headed broadsword up to block the strike. With that, the clash of sabers in mid-air rang out with an ear-piercing metallic screech.
At this time, Li Yanchu’s gaze sharpened, then he followed up with another sweeping slash. In just a few breaths, the two had already exchanged over a dozen blows!
Meanwhile, Chai Lie moved with precision and control. His saber techniques were sharp and refined, and he clearly bore the air of a true master.
“The Six Yang Saber Art?” Chai Lie sneered.
Li Yanchu said nothing. He brought his saber down in a crushing arc with enough strength to split mountains and shatter stone.
Chai Lie’s tiger-headed broadsword moved like a bolt of lightning. With a swift flick of the saber’s spine, he knocked aside Li Yanchu’s Jiaoslayer, then twisted his wrist and slashed horizontally at Li Yanchu’s chest.
“You know that swordsman who used the Six Yang Saber Art? I already broke his saber and killed him right here in Wei City. And now you’ve learned his saber art? You’re just asking to die,” Chai Lie sneered.
So the famed saber master who had been slain in Wei City had, in fact, died at this very man’s hands.
A sudden surge of killing intent erupted from Li Yanchu. His entire form blurred midair, leaving behind afterimages. Muscles bulged along his arms as his blood and qi surged to a boil, and the immense Six Yang Force flooded into the Jiaoslayer.
With a ferocious roar of power, he struck down savagely.
Seeing this, Chai Lie’s eyes narrowed. He barely managed to raise his saber to block.
Clang!
Chai Lie’s tiger-headed broadsword was cleaved in two. If not for his last-second dodge, which let the saber’s tip merely graze his chest, he would’ve been cleaved clean in two.
Even so, blood gushed from his chest, and the potent, crushing Six Yang Force wreaked havoc inside his body, damaging his meridians.
“Why is this guy’s Six Yang Force so brutal?” Chai Lie’s expression changed drastically.
“Now that your saber's been broken by me too, what are you still pretending to be a master for?” Li Yanchu sneered coldly.
As the saying went, “Kill the body, crush the spirit.”
Chai Lie had just bragged seconds ago, only to be instantly slapped in the face by Li Yanchu’s response. Though he had taken the black-robed elder as his master in pursuit of immortality, Chai Lie had once been a renowned saber master in the jianghu.
The current head of the Divine Saber Sect of Guanzhong was none other than his junior. If not for Chai Lie’s violent and cruel temperament, that sect leader’s seat wouldn’t have fallen to his junior.
“You little brat, you’re courting death!” Chai Lie roared, lunging forward to kill with a saber fragment in hand.
Two breaths later...
Boom!
With a thunderous crash, Chai Lie was smashed into a courtyard wall by one of Li Yanchu’s punches. The entire wall collapsed, tiles and bricks scattering as dust billowed into the air.
Chai Lie stared in disbelief at the young man before him, who was barely in his twenties yet already giving off an aura that made him feel completely outmatched.
“A master of this level... and this young?”
In that moment, a flicker of satisfaction and glee flashed across Madam Feng’s beautiful eyes. Just now, the brutish man had looked at her like a predator eyeing a naked woman, his gaze filled with vile intent.
Having already injured Chai Lie, Li Yanchu didn’t utter a word as he swung his saber straight at the black-robed elder, who remained idle, still feeding on the corpse of a young woman.
At this moment, many of the liver spots on the elder’s face had faded, but his qi and blood remained dangerously low. He was simply too old, so just trapping the monk from Lingxi Temple earlier had already drained him greatly.
He reached out a withered hand, spreading his palm. At its center was a human eye, an eye filled with seething hatred. It was a Demonic Eye!
Anyone caught in the gaze of the Demonic Eye would have their spirit shaken, their mind lost in endless terrifying illusions, as if plunged into Avici Hell[1] itself.
But Li Yanchu roared, “Five-Lightning Pure Yang! How dare a demonic creature like you meet my gaze! You’re courting death!”
A wave of pure yang thunderous aura burst out from Li Yanchu. It was the Five-Lightning Spell, an orthodox Daoist lightning art. All evil, filthy yin entities and demonic cultivators dared not meet his eyes.
Instantly, the surrounding fear-inducing illusions vanished, and the Demonic Eye in the old man’s palm began to bleed!
Li Yanchu’s qi and blood surged like a blazing furnace, and his saber light came crashing down toward the elder. A worldly martial brute like him, who proved his Dao through sheer force, could, at times, pose a threat even to those demonic cultivators with great cultivation.
Seeing this, the black-robed elder’s gaze darkened. In desperation, he bit through his tongue and spat out a mouthful of foul, black blood. It was his essence and blood.
Li Yanchu’s strike had been too fast, and his qi and blood was too overwhelming, which forced the elder to burn his essence and blood in defense.
Boom!
Just then, Li Yanchu was blasted backward by the force of the blood attack. His qi shield nearly shattered, and flames surged into the air all around him.
Could it be that the earlier explosion in the Feng residence... was caused by this elder? Li Yanchu’s brow furrowed.
No. That doesn’t feel right.
His thoughts turned rapidly. It was likely someone else inside the Feng residence had fought with this black-robed elder, and that was what caused such a terrifying blast.
With that blood expelled, the black-robed elder’s body grew even more ragged and broken, like a dying oil lamp flickering on the verge of going out. His already shriveled body grew even more emaciated, as if it could fall apart at any moment.
Yet within that frail frame, it felt as though a terrifying force was about to burst out. It was so powerful that even Li Yanchu couldn’t help but be stunned.
