Chapter 306: Chapter 268: Overwhelming Force and the Empty Fort Strategy
Bodhisattva Lingji, who usually cultivated on Little Sumeru Mountain three thousand miles away, thought that being a Daluo Golden Immortal with the Innate Divine Ability of Divine Wind, the Yellow Wind Monster could stop Lu Bu.
But who would have thought that not only did the Yellow Wind Monster fail to stop him, but he also couldn’t withstand even twenty rounds in the hands of Lu Bu.
By the time he arrived, the Yellow Wind Monster had already been beheaded.
He well knew the importance of Ussang Country, and Yellow Wind Ridge was the last line of defense for the Han army’s occupation of Ussang Country; it could not be lost, so he had to personally take down Lu Bu himself.
This battle had to be swift, to prevent other experts from the Han from coming.
Yet just as he made his move, Tai Bai Golden Star arrived, and his demeanor was inscrutable.
He appeared to be a Golden Immortal, but he defeated his powerful Buddha’s Hand Seal, intended to subdue Lu Bu, with just a single sword light.
After Tai Bai Golden Star arrived, he cheerfully said, "Bodhisattva Lingji, may I propose a bargain? How about we both withdraw and leave Yellow Wind Ridge to the Han? It also avoids the unpleasantness of conflict."
Bodhisattva Lingji sternly asked, "Tai Bai Golden Star, now that Heaven deems Buddhism prosper, being an attendant close to the Heavenly Emperor, do you also intend to defy the Heavenly Dao?"
Tai Bai Golden Star replied seriously, "Bodhisattva, I’m just a minor star lord, merely acting on orders from Ziwei Great Emperor. I do not understand heavenly ways, earthly ways, or human ways."
Bodhisattva Lingji frowned. This feigned ignorance clearly showed Tai Bai Golden Star’s intentions; he was resolute in working for Sun Wukong.
With one hand, he declared, "If you do not understand, then please, star lord, do not involve yourself in the conflicts between east and west, to avoid disaster and the fate of perishing both body and path."
Tai Bai Golden Star, standing on his sword, retorted, "Isn’t Bodhisattva afraid of disasters befalling him?"
Bodhisattva Lingji, with a dignified expression, said, "For the greater prosperity of Buddha Sect, I would die without regrets."
Tai Bai Golden Star shook his head and said, "Such nobility in death I cannot match, for if I fail to seize Yellow Wind Ridge, Ziwei Great Emperor is likely to kill me with one slap; now that would be a true disaster."
At that moment, Lu Bu down below was already growing impatient, "Are we fighting or not? If not, let me do it!"
Bodhisattva Lingji’s expression darkened, and though he was ever vigilant, since he could not persuade Tai Bai Golden Star, he no longer insisted. He immediately brought out the Dragon Sceptre, which transformed into a golden dragon, soaring towards the old star lord.
"What a treasure!" Tai Bai Golden Star exclaimed, as he waved his horsetail whisk, unleashing thousands of strands that tightly bound the golden dragon, appearing to struggle greatly.
Bodhisattva Lingji’s expression was grave; he pinched various Dharma Seals, including the Lion Seal, Sun Wheel Seal, and Treasure Vase Seal, holding nothing back.
But Tai Bai Golden Star, with minimal effort, whether using the Great Sword Light, Five Thunders Method, or strands of the whisk, was able to completely block all of Bodhisattva Lingji’s Dharma Seals.
Their exchange seemed to make little disturbance, eerily harmonious.
Bodhisattva Lingji was increasingly shocked, feeling Tai Bai Golden Star to be even more unfathomable, which was truly terrifying.
After fighting over a hundred rounds, seeing that Lu Bu’s troops had already flattened Yellow Wind Ridge, Bodhisattva Lingji sighed lightly. After casting one final fist seal to repel Tai Bai Golden Star, he left on a beam of Buddha light.
Tai Bai Golden Star breathed a sigh of relief, as if a burden had been lifted, then with a smile, approached Lu Bu: "General Lv, I have repelled the invading enemy. You must speak well of me to your master."
Lu Bu looked at him twice more, repelled? Was it not rather that Bodhisattva Lingji had simply grown weary of the fight and left?
But since the old star lord’s words were comforting, he did not say much more, thanked him, and agreed to convey his words to his master.
Tai Bai Golden Star’s smile broadened.
However, the powerful observers from the Three Realms were full of suspicions; everyone found this former attendant of the Heavenly Emperor impenetrable.
Including such ancient Quasi-Saints as Zhen Yuanzi, Yun Zhongzi, Southern Extremity Longevity Star, Patriarch Kun Peng, and Queen Mother of the West.
Some knew that Tai Bai Golden Star was once a willow tree transformed from Kunlun Mountain, but such origins weren’t top-tier, so how could he possess such profound strength?
No one could understand, and the attention of all parties quickly turned back to Lu Bu.
Lu Bu was seen establishing a military presence at Yellow Wind Ridge, setting up a teleportation Formation, whereby tens of thousands of Han troops were transported from the Han to the territory of Ussang Country.
All factions finally understood what Banana Cave was all about; it was actually using Formation methods for spatial transfer!
Everyone instantly thought of Sun Wukong, as only the Great Sage Equalling Heaven would have such ingenious ideas.
Then, using Yellow Wind Ridge as a base, Lu Bu led the army towards Ussang Country.
The tens of thousands of Han troops, with the lowest among them at the Innate Realm of martial arts, having Qi-Blood stronger than ordinary demons, each wielding a Spear-Piercing Armor, quickly occupied city after city within Ussang Country.
Meanwhile, Ussang Country concentrated its forces around the capital, prepared to resist to the death.
For this place was where the national fortune resided; once the capital fell, the national fortune would scatter.
But as the Han army approached the city, the king of this western kingdom was already trembling in fear, nearly kneeling down.
Demon General Indra led five thousand demon soldiers and a hundred thousand Ussang Country troops in defending the city, his Demonic Flame rising, full of fighting spirit.
"Breach the city!" Lu Bu cried, astride his Red-Scaled Dragon Horse, his Square Sky Halberd pointing at the tall city walls.
Then, leaping up, his martial god-level Qi-Blood exploded instantly, his strength tremendously amplified by the Han’s national fortune.
Boom!
The crimson Divine Halberd slashed out fiercely, its terrifying power shaking the void.
Indra’s expression drastically changed. Without a second thought, a flash of demon light, and he turned to flee.
