Chapter 152 Jia Ye and Ao Lie

Chapter 152: Chapter 152 Jia Ye and Ao Lie

The two Buddha’s disciples arrived, bathed in Buddha’s light, capturing the attention of all the deities and members of the Dragon Race present.

The four Dragon Kings of the Four Seas exchanged glances, somewhat troubled.

In previous Chemical Dragon Meetings, neither Heavenly Court nor Buddha Sect would send particularly high-ranking or powerful delegates, at most they would send two star lords and Arhats who were slightly more formidable than dragon gods.

This time was different, however. Heavenly Court had sent the North Sea Dragon King and Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy, while Buddha Sect had sent two Buddhas’ disciples, Supreme One Jia Ye and Supreme One Golden Cicada.

As luck would have it, the two parties arrived almost at the same time, one after the other.

Clearly, it was unacceptable to slight either side.

At this moment, Sun Wukong smiled and said, "Old Sun and your Dragon Race are old friends, don’t mind me and Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy, go and greet the other guests."

The four Dragon Kings of the Four Seas were extremely grateful and promptly paid their respects with a reverent bow, "Thank you, Supreme One!"

Subsequently, the West Sea Dragon King and South Sea Dragon King went to greet the arrivals, while the East Sea Dragon King and North Sea Dragon King continued to accompany Sun Wukong and Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy.

Sun Wukong, however, did not continue into the Dragon Palace; instead, he looked towards the two monks who had arrived from the west, one was Golden Cicada, the other he had not met before.

"Brother," the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy introduced, "that skinny old monk is Moksha Jia Ye, the eldest disciple of Buddha, commonly referred to as Supreme One Jia Ye."

"Oh, what can he do?" Sun Wukong asked.

"He’s quite capable," said the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy with a serious expression, "He possesses extreme wisdom and understanding, known as the foremost dhuta. It is said that when the Buddha preached, he grasped the profound mysteries from a smile when a flower was twirled, and was even gifted half of a seat by the Buddha."

"He’s someone with true ability," Sun Wukong noted with a glint in his eyes, and he also noticed that the other’s power was not inferior, elusive to discern.

He just didn’t know whether the other was a Quasi-Saint through virtues or one who had become a Quasi-Saint after cutting off the Three Corpses.

Seeing that the other party had already arrived, Sun Wukong put on a smile and took the initiative to step forward to greet, "Golden Cicada, we meet again. Parting in haste from the Heavenly Court, Old Sun has missed you greatly."

"Amitābha, this humble monk has seen the Great Saint," Golden Cicada clasped his hands together, his previously tightly furrowed brow relaxed slightly, and a trace of a smile appeared on his face.

This monkey has changed!

The Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy was astounded internally, perceiving something different about Sun Wukong, who, in the past, wouldn’t give an inch, always aggressive and never suffering a loss.

Yet today, Supreme One Jia Ye and Golden Cicada had clearly timed their visit.

Not only was Sun Wukong not annoyed, but he also appeared unconcerned as he let Ao Run and the others go over to receive them, and now he was even proactively having a conversation with Golden Cicada.

"And this would be?" Sun Wukong knowingly asked, turning his gaze towards the ascetic monk beside him.

"Great Saint, this is Supreme One Jia Ye, my senior brother," Golden Cicada quickly introduced.

"I have met the North Sea Dragon King," Jia Ye said with a nodding smile.

"Supreme One is too polite, too polite," Sun Wukong replied with a smile, returning the gesture with clasped hands, as overt aggression now would surely place him in the lower position, but if he showed proper decorum, then the other party would drop to the lower position.

Afterwards, the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy also stepped forward to respectfully greet the two monks.

Both sides represented a scene of harmony.

The four Dragon Kings of the Four Seas breathed a sigh of relief and quickly invited the distinguished guests into the Dragon Palace.

Inside the main hall of the Dragon Palace, seating was arranged according to the level of power and status, in descending order.

In terms of status, Sun Wukong was the highest ranked.

In terms of strength, Supreme One Jia Ye was stronger.

So, the four Dragon Kings faced another dilemma.

"North Pole Supreme One, shall we sit in the top seats together?" Jia Ye said with a smile.

"Old Sun was thinking the same," Sun Wukong’s smile remained unaltered, not underestimating the other; evidently, this was a monk capable of humbling himself, not an easy opponent!

Thus, the two individuals took their respective seats at the top of the great hall, with the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy and Golden Cicada by their sides.

Only then did the other deities and members of the Dragon Race take their seats in succession.

At this moment, three figures emerged from the rear hall, and among them, a fairy clad in yellow exclaimed with joy, "Great Sage Sun Wukong, it’s you who’s come?"

Wukong looked towards the source of the voice and saw it was Yang Chan as well.

"Your eyes only for your Great Sage, acting as if you’re seeing a lover," muttered the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy under his breath.

"Off with you." Wukong waved him off, and then, smiling, gestured for Yang Chan to come over.

Accompanying Yang Chan were a red-clad dragon lady and a youth in white.

After arriving close by, Yang Chan complained, "If I had known you were coming, I would have come with you."

"His Majesty’s dispatch was sudden, I didn’t know in advance either," Wukong responded with a smile that lit up his face, and then asked, "And who are these two?"

"Oh, I forgot to introduce them," Yang Chan said hurriedly, "This beautiful dragon lady sister is my second sister-in-law, Ao Cunxin, the third princess of the West Sea."

"Oh? Your second brother Yang Jian’s wife? Why isn’t your second brother here?" Wukong was curious, having heard the name Yang Jian many times but having never met him.

"My second brother, he..." Yang Chan glanced cautiously at Ao Cunxin.

"I greet the Great Sage," Ao Cunxin said composedly, bowing as a formality.

Wukong understood; it seemed that this couple was having a quarrel.

Turning to the youth in white, Yang Chan said, "This pushover is the young white dragon, Ao Lie, the third prince of the West Sea Dragon Race."

As she spoke, she raised her hand to pat the young white dragon’s head.

"Cut it out, will you? So annoying," Ao Lie dodged, an expression of disdain on his face that suggested he didn’t quite fit in, his demeanor arrogant.

"Please do not take offense, Great Sage; my younger brother is a bit unruly," Ao Cunxin apologized hastily, bowing again.

"No offense taken, no offense taken," Wukong waved dismissively, his gaze appraising the young white dragon, noting his rebellious nature.

"You ought to be ashamed," rebuked Yang Chan, "Haven’t you always admired the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong, clamoring to meet him? This is him right in front of you! I’m kindly introducing you, so don’t be ungrateful."

At these words, Ao Lie’s eyes suddenly lit up, fixating intensely on Sun Wukong.

Aside from the monkeys of Fruit Mountain, Wukong had never seen anyone admire him so fervently, and naturally, he was pleased.

But before he could say anything, in the next moment, Ao Lie made a stunning move amid the bustling Dragon Palace hall.

He dropped to his knees with a thud before Wukong and exclaimed loudly, "Ao Lie greets the Great Sage Equalling Heaven and begs the Great Sage to accept me as a disciple!"

"Hmm?" Wukong’s gaze sharpened, but he felt no joy.

For he sensed that the young white dragon’s sudden act of prostration was not genuinely seeking discipleship, but rather appeared to be an attempt to escape from something.

"How dare you disturb the North Star!" the Dragon King of the West Sea, Ao Run, exclaimed angrily.

"Ao Lie, withdraw at once!" Prince Mo Ang also chided, "If you disturb the Supreme One, and disrupt the order of this assembly, you will bear a grave sin!"

At this time, all the deities and members of the Dragon Race in the grand hall were shocked by this spectacle.

Jia Ye and Golden Cicada exchanged glances, for the two brothers could see that the reactions of the three from the West Sea Dragon Clan were quite unusual.

Yang Chan and Ao Cunxin were worried, wanting to step forward and help Ao Lie up, yet they hesitated, unable to decide.

In the end, all eyes converged on Sun Wukong and Ao Lie.

Despite the shock and rebukes from the West Sea Dragon King and Prince Mo Ang, Ao Lie remained unfazed, kneeling on the ground.
