Chapter 420: Chapter 401 Don’t worry, Old Sun will definitely pull the rope_2
Nine Spirits Holy Yuan explained, "You are not aware that Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk are not very capable and are easy to deal with!"
"However, that Sun Wukong, known as the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, caused Havoc in Heaven five hundred years ago. The Jade Emperor sent a hundred thousand celestial soldiers and generals, and set up the celestial net but still couldn’t influence him. In the end, they had to ask the Buddha Ancestor to intervene, who finally suppressed this monkey. This Monkey Sun is extremely formidable, and you are no match for him."
The Six Lions furrowed their brows upon hearing this, their faces filled with difficulty as they said, "So, does this mean that the Yellow Lion cannot be rescued?"
"That is not necessarily true!" the Nine Spirits Holy Yuan shook his head, saying, "Dealing with Sun Wukong is particularly tricky, and I would rather not provoke them under normal circumstances."
"But now that my grandson, the Yellow Lion, has been captured by them, how can I just sit by and watch? So be it! I will accompany you, and we must rescue the grandson of the Yellow Lion and teach Sun Wukong a lesson while we’re at it, to prevent them from being too arrogant."
The Six Lions were immediately overjoyed upon hearing this and quickly said, "If our ancestor personally takes action, what is Sun Wukong but easily captured?"
At the command of Nine Spirits Holy Yuan, he immediately gathered Nao Lion, Snow Lion, Suan Ni, Bai Ze, Fu Li, and Tuan Xiang, along with all the demons in the cave, to ride the clouds and fog directly toward Yuhua Province.
The fierce winds howled and the dark fog spread, enveloping Yuhua Imperial City in an instant, causing the citizens within the city to scatter in fear, hiding in their homes, locking their doors and windows, daring not to make a sound, as if afraid to stir the celestial demons above.
Meanwhile, in the Royal Palace, Xuanzang and his disciples were in the main hall, along with King of Yuhua and his three sons, while Zhu Bajie was boastfully bragging.
He boasted about how formidable he was, how he had subdued the Monster of Leopard Head Mountain, and how he had captured the Yellow Lion Demon.
Neither King of Yuhua nor his three sons could discern the truth, and upon hearing Zhu Bajie speak, they all marveled at his great Divine Skills. Zhu Bajie had a contented look on his face, totally satisfied without a hint of guilt.
At this moment, a Royal Palace guard came rushing in, his face filled with panic as he said, "I beg to report, my lord. The City Guard Army has just reported that a group of demons, stirring up dust and spraying mist, has arrived outside the city."
King of Yuhua’s face turned pale as he exclaimed, "What did you say? A group of demons?"
"Yes! In the black fog floating above, there are all kinds of wolf, worm, tiger, and leopard demons, densely packed, and it’s unknown how many there are," the guard hastily replied.
"What are we to do?" asked King of Yuhua in panic and confusion.
"Your Highness, there is no need to worry. With me, Old Zhu, here, not to mention a demon or two, even if celestial soldiers and generals were to come, I could still ensure your absolute safety," said Zhu Bajie, bursting with confidence.
Reassured somewhat by these words, King of Yuhua quickly said, "All the elders are like living Bodhisattvas who can subdue demons and quell devils. I hope that you can display your Divine Skills and drive these evil spirits away to protect our citizens from disaster."
Sun Wukong stated with a grin, "Your Highness, no need to worry. Since this matter arose because of us, we naturally will not stand idly by. Just feel at ease. A mere group of demons is nothing for Old Sun to worry about."
"With that, I entrust this matter to you!" said King of Yuhua, expressing his gratitude.
Sun Wukong chuckled, then turned to Zhu Bajie and said, "Fool, didn’t you just boast that even if celestial soldiers and generals came, you wouldn’t be afraid? Now, let’s see what you can do. Go out and repel those demons."
Zhu Bajie shrank his neck, hesitating as he spoke, "The demon forces are numerous, and I, Old Zhu, might not be able to withstand them alone; I still need the help of Uncle Master and Brother Monkey."
"You fool, you were so enthusiastic just now, and now you’re cowering and asking us for help!" Sun Wukong said irritably.
Zhu Bajie hurriedly explained, "It’s not that I’m cowering, but with so many demons, I, Old Zhu, might not be able to handle them alone."
While he spoke, Zhu Bajie kept making signals to Xuanzang with his eyes.
Understanding Zhu Bajie’s intention, Xuanzang quickly said, "With demon forces pressing in, we should unite and focus, not waste time arguing here."
"Wukong, why don’t you join Bajie and Sand Monk and go out and subdue this group of demons?"
Sun Wukong said somewhat displeased, "Master still favors Bajie."
"Since we cannot avoid it, we can only meet it head-on in battle. Are we really afraid of a group of demons?"
Having turned around, Sun Wukong addressed Xuanzang, King of Yuhua, and the three princes, "Stay here and wait, do not venture out rashly lest you be captured by the demons."
"Bajie, Sand Monk, follow me to confront the enemy."
After saying this, he turned and strode out.
Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk each grabbed their weapons and followed Sun Wukong. The four of them left the gate, soared into the sky, and flew towards the outskirts of the city.
Upon reaching the city gate and standing in the air, they indeed saw the skies outside the city darkened by clouds, from which a group of demons with bared fangs and brandished claws appeared. Leading them was none other than the Nine Spirits Holy Yuan.
Zhu Bajie, buoyed by the support of his companions, shouted at the group of demons, "Audacious demons, who are you to disturb Yuhua Province? Are you not afraid of divine punishment?"
"O wise ones, if you know what’s good for you, retreat quickly and you may just save your pitiful lives. Hesitate, and I, Old Pig, with one swing of my rake, will send you all to the underworld, wasting thousands of years of cultivation. You’ll regret it when it’s too late!"
"Quite the talker, Zhu Bajie, your skills are modest, but your bravado is not," the Nine Spirits Holy Yuan, surrounded like a star among moons, snorted coldly.
Glancing at Sun Wukong, the Nine Spirits Holy Yuan sneered, "Sun Wukong, you’re quite courageous, capturing my grandson, the Yellow Lion. If you’re wise, release him quickly. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
"What audacity and bluster you have, demon. I, Old Sun, really want to see just how ruthless you can be."
Sun Wukong chuckled and, turning to Zhu Bajie, loudly said, "Bajie, go teach these ignorant demons a lesson."
Zhu Bajie paused, looked puzzled, and asked, "Why is it always me, Old Pig?"
As a matter of fact, Sun Wukong retorted, "Nonsense, who else if not you? Didn’t you just boast that these demons are nothing to worry about, claiming that with your rake you could scatter them like autumn leaves in the wind? Why falter at the crucial moment?"
"Who’s faltering!" Zhu Bajie quickly retorted, then glanced at the opposing demons, saw their overwhelming numbers, and inevitably felt a bit sheepish as he shrank back and said, "Brother Monkey, it’s not that Old Pig is scared, it’s just that there are too many of them for me to handle alone!"
Laughing, Sun Wukong replied, "What are you afraid of? Today you take the lead, with us backing you. Are we really afraid of a group of demons? Besides, your disciple is watching. If you lose face in front of your disciple, how will you ever face teaching him again?"
Zhu Bajie looked down and indeed his disciple was watching.
If he showed cowardice now, how would he ever teach his disciple in the future?
Zhu Bajie took a deep breath and said, "Alright, let’s do this! But I’m afraid of not winning. If they capture me instead, that would be bad. How about this, Brother Monkey, tie a rope around my waist. If I win, then all is well. But if I’m losing, pull the rope to yank me back, preventing the demons from capturing me."
"You fool, always thinking of something, fine! Let’s do as you say! But as the vanguard, you must win, do you understand? Defeat is not an option as it would dampen our spirits," Sun Wukong said seriously.
"Rest assured! I, Old Pig, will do my best," Zhu Bajie confidently declared.
Then, Sun Wukong plucked a strand of his hair, blew on it, and it transformed into a fine rope. He tied one end around Zhu Bajie’s waist and held the other in his hand, smiling, "You fool, now you can be at ease!"
Zhu Bajie, now satisfied, nodded and said, "That’s good. Now listen carefully, Brother Monkey. Don’t get distracted. When I say pull the rope, you must yank me back immediately."
"Rest assured, if there’s any trouble, I, Old Sun, will definitely pull the rope!"
Sun Wukong readily agreed.
