Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong’s fate
Chapter 319 - 320: Hoping to Offer Worship to You All

Chapter 319: Chapter 320: Hoping to Offer Worship to You All

Upon hearing Wansheng Princess’s words, the Nine-headed Worm couldn’t help but become infuriated, letting out an enraged roar, but Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk had him entangled, preventing him from breaking free.

Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk, for the moment, could not bring down the two.

Zhu Bajie bellowed and turned to charge at Wansheng Princess.

Seeing this, the Nine-headed Worm was shocked and hastily shouted out, "Princess, be careful."

Wansheng Princess, seeing Zhu Bajie charging towards her, couldn’t help but turn pale with fright.

Especially as Zhu Bajie, holding the Nine-toothed Rake, swung it straight at her, Wansheng Princess was terrified, her face turning white with fear.

Wansheng Princess let out a cry of alarm and quickly raised her treasured sword to block, for Zhu Bajie was already upon her, and it was too late to dodge.

At that moment, Zhu Bajie was furious. Since they couldn’t take down the Nine-headed Worm, his anger was immense; now seeing Wansheng Princess, the one the Nine-headed Worm was worried about, he naturally swung his rake at her.

"Clang!"

With a crisp sound, the treasured sword in Wansheng Princess’s hand shattered instantly, and the Nine-toothed Rake, losing none of its momentum, continued to smash towards Wansheng Princess’s head.

The rake wielded by Zhu Bajie is known as the Precious Gilt Rake, personally forged by the Grand Elder of the Supreme Way from Divine Ice Iron.

The Nine-toothed Rake weighed the same as a Zang, with the handle alone weighing 5048 jin.

It is a Top Grade Divine Instrument, and even within the ranks of Top Grade Divine Instruments, it is among the foremost, its might not inferior to that of typical Ultimate Divine Instruments.

And at that moment, Zhu Bajie, who was striking in anger, unleashed an enormous force with his rake, far beyond what Wansheng Princess could withstand.

Consequently, the treasured sword in Wansheng Princess’s hand was shattered instantly; terrified, her face turned ashen, and before she could evade, the Nine-toothed Rake had already struck her head.

With a "thud," blood splattered everywhere.

The head and neck of Wansheng Princess were smashed into pulp in an instant, so much so that she didn’t even utter a moan, and she was killed on the spot, her life extinguished like a snuffed out flame.

At this point, Sun Wukong had just chased out from inside and happened to witness this scene, shaking his head.

After all, Wansheng Princess had done many things, and this is called ’as the heavens are watching, one must pay for one’s actions.’

Dying at the hands of Zhu Bajie could also be considered fate.

"Roar!"

The Nine-headed Worm saw his beloved wife slain by Zhu Bajie’s rake and let out an enraged howl to the sky, bitterly cursing Zhu Bajie, "You fat pig! How dare you harm my beloved wife! I will not spare you today!"

Under a surge of rage, the Nine-headed Worm unleashed his divine might, repeatedly forcing Sand Monk to retreat.

Then, without a second thought, he charged towards Zhu Bajie, vowing to tear Zhu Bajie to pieces to avenge his wife’s death and erase his hatred.

Zhu Bajie, however, was utterly fearless, brandishing the Nine-toothed Rake and shouting, "You’ve come right on time; I was just looking for you to settle the score! Demon, face the rake!"

As he spoke, he raised the rake to meet the charge.

Sun Wukong gripped his Jingu Bang and bellowed, "Annihilate this fiend here and now!"

Even though Sun Wukong didn’t like to battle in the water, in the water he was no less unaffected than on land.

At this time, Sand Monk also joined the fray, entering the battle and starting to besiege the Nine-headed Worm.

Even with his great powers, the Nine-headed Worm could not withstand the assault from the three and soon took a hit from Sun Wukong’s staff.

The Nine-headed Worm screamed as blood gushed from his mouth.

After being struck by this blow, the Nine-headed Worm realized he was no match for his opponents.

Fearing for his life if the battle continued, the demon unleashed his formidable Monster Energy, splitting it in two and scattering it all around, struggling fiercely to break out of the encirclement, reverting to his true form and swimming swiftly towards the surface.

"Damn! That nine-headed beast is truly sickening to look at," Sun Wukong couldn’t help but exclaim.

Seeing this, Sand Monk frowned and said, "I didn’t expect this monster to be so quick in water as well."

"Don’t just stand there, go after him! If we let this creature go, he will surely cause trouble for us!" Sun Wukong spoke and then took the lead, rapidly giving chase.

Soon after, Sand Monk also hurriedly parted the waves and chased swiftly, barely slower than Sun Wukong.

Zhu Bajie also quickly followed, and his speed was not slow at all, closely behind Sun Wukong and Sand Monk.

With a loud bang.

The calm surface of the water suddenly exploded into a burst of spray as the nine-headed monster broke out first, shaking its wings to fly into the high sky.

"Take my blow, Old Sun!"

At that very moment, Sun Wukong also burst from the water, his Jingu Bang smashing forcefully downward.

Sun Wukong had been intending to kill the Nine-headed Worm, and now seeing it charging towards Xuanzang, he wielded his Jingu Bang with even greater speed.

The Nine-headed Worm, already formidable, moved quickly to dodge under the immense force.

In his true form, his speed and strength greatly increased.

But with a quick twist, he evaded Sun Wukong’s strike.

Even so, the Jingu Bang skimmed the edge of the Nine-headed Worm’s wing.

And even though it barely grazed him, the tip of the wing was instantly shattered, and a rain of blood sprinkled from the sky, with feathers drifting gently down.

"Sun Wukong, you are too bullying! I’ll fight you to the death!" the Nine-headed Worm cursed loudly. Suddenly, another head emerged from his waist, opened its huge mouth, and bit towards Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong, greatly startled, turned into a golden light and dodged to the side. The Nine-headed Worm missed its bite and did not pursue, instead seizing the opportunity to turn and fly towards the east.

The Nine-headed Worm was one to cherish his own life; now that Wansheng Princess was dead, he had nothing left to stay for and didn’t dare to truly fight Sun Wukong to the death. Seeing the right moment, he prepared to flee.

But how could Sun Wukong let the Nine-headed Worm escape?

And it was at this moment that Buddha’s light descended, scattering Buddha’s shadow in all directions.

At this point, the Nine-headed Worm was gravely injured.

Its monster energy dissipated, and under the Buddha’s light, the Nine-headed Worm struggled to hold on.

The intent to flee that it originally had was involuntarily halted.

"Wukong!"

Just then, as Sun Wukong drew near and was about to strike the Nine-headed Worm dead with a staff blow, Xuanzang’s voice rang out.

Sun Wukong paused and turned back to look at Xuanzang.

"Benefactor, it’s not too late to turn back to the shore!"

Xuanzang shouted forcefully.

A dense monster energy emerged from the Nine-headed Worm, which then slowly transformed into the appearance of a human being.

It was indeed the Nine-headed Worm reverting to human form.

At that moment, he clasped his hands together and chanted Amitabha Buddha.

"The compassion of my Buddha."

"I am willing to take refuge!"

The Nine-headed Worm’s face showed a look of remorse.

"A teachable child, today I will shave your head and ordain you!"

The head of the Nine-headed Worm was shaved.

He had fully become a follower of Buddhism.

"From now on, you should stay here, diligently cultivate Buddhist Law, and never harm others again!"

Xuanzang instructed.

"I have understood, venerable monk!"

The Nine-headed Worm said with clasped hands.

Afterward, Xuanzang left with Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sand Monk, returning to Saisai Country from Green Wave Pool.

"You all have finally returned!"

At this time, upon hearing that the holy monk and his companions had returned, the king hurried out to meet them.

"How did it go?"

Anticipation showed on the king’s face.

"Wukong!"

Xuanzang looked at Sun Wukong, who handed a box containing Buddha’s Treasure to the king, saying, "Now you must take good care of it, otherwise, next time there might not be anyone to find it for you!"

The king, his heart stirred, hastily said, "You Immortal Bodhisattvas have recovered our Buddha’s Treasure, which makes you the benefactors of our entire Saisai Country!"

"Your Majesty proposes a suggestion, hoping to commission painters to capture the holy images of all the Immortal Bodhisattvas, and in the future build a Subduing Dragon Hall next to this Golden Pagoda, to honor all the Immortal Bodhisattvas."

"To ensure peace and safety for our Saisai Country, may I inquire what the Immortal Bodhisattvas think of this proposition?"

Sun Wukong looked towards Xuanzang.

Xuanzang gave a slight nod, having this intention in mind as well; if Xuanzang were to monopolize all the incense offerings of Saisai Country, it would inevitably displease Buddhism.

But if it was just a share of incense offerings within the Subduing Dragon Temple, even if Guanyin Bodhisattva or Ancestor Buddha Tathagata were to learn of this, they presumably wouldn’t dare object. After all, they were engaged in the great undertaking of the Journey to the West for the prosperity of Buddhism.

Considering all he had done, receiving such treatment seemed only natural.

Stepping forward, Xuanzang eagerly agreed, "Since His Majesty has this gracious intention, we dare not decline."

"Now that the Holy Monk Xuanzang has agreed, upon returning to the palace, I will instruct the artists to replicate portraits of the Immortal Bodhisattvas," said the king, clearly delighted.

Xuanzang, too, was quite satisfied with this outcome, his gains were indeed substantial.

Although the Buddhist Relic had been returned to the king of Saisai Country.

They had taken possession of the Nine-leaf Ganoderma, a rare spiritual medicine, which even the immortals in heaven would hesitate to claim for themselves.

As night fell, the king hurriedly invited Xuanzang and his companions back to the palace for a feast.

Xuanzang, unpretentious, joined the king in the sedan and returned to the palace.

As he sat in the sedan, Xuanzang closed his eyes to rest.

Before long, Xuanzang and his companions arrived back at the palace with the king.

The king was endlessly grateful to Xuanzang and the others and had ordered Guanglu Temple to prepare the feast in advance. Upon their arrival at the palace, they were immediately invited to dine.

The grand feast lasted until midnight, and for once, Sun Wukong and his companions had the rare opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves to the fullest.

However, Xuanzang didn’t enjoy such occasions and was thinking of continuing the journey the next day, but the king wouldn’t permit it, pleading with them to stay.

Xuanzang reluctantly agreed to stay for two more days.

During those two days, the king set aside all state affairs to accompany Sun Wukong and his companions on tours around the city, enjoying the exotic local customs, and whenever it was time to eat, they would be treated to lavish banquets at the palace.

These two days passed in a leisurely and refreshing manner.

On the third day, when Xuanzang again bid their leave, the king was unable to persuade them to stay and had no choice but to let them go.

The king then exchanged the Pass Permit, arrayed the Imperial Carriage, and led civil and military officials as well as the monks from Subduing Dragon Temple out of the city to see them off.

The king personally escorted them for twenty li outside the city before finally turning his carriage back to the palace.

The monks from Subduing Dragon Temple, however, still reluctant to part, continued their farewell for fifty to sixty li, unwilling to turn back.
