Chapter 257: Chapter 258: Bodhisattva, I Become a Buddhist Monk
With a thunderous boom, the earth trembled.
Countless fragments of stone scattered in every direction.
Red Child took a few steps back, feeling the burst of power that Sun Wukong had released in an instant—almost surpassing his imagination.
Even so, Red Child didn’t show any sign of submission; with a cold snort, he attacked Sun Wukong with his long spear.
In an instant, a sharp radiance swept through, as if tearing the air apart.
Wukong twisted his body, dodging the spear.
"Impressive demon, with such strong techniques!" Wukong said, appearing hesitant to meet the attack head-on.
"To think that the famed Great Sage Equalling Heaven is only this much, quite disappointing indeed!" Red Child laughed haughtily. Initially, when Sun Wukong made his move, Red Child was somewhat concerned, but now he felt that Wukong was nothing special.
Wukong kept retreating as he fought; naturally, he wouldn’t clash head-on with Red Child.
"I won’t fight you anymore. Go and try to best Bodhisattva first," Wukong said, having spotted Guanyin Bodhisattva not far away, uttering a cold hum.
By this time, Red Child had also caught sight of Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Even Red Child felt a sense of awe towards Guanyin, but he didn’t believe the monkey could bring Guanyin to his aid so quickly. Perhaps it was just a bluff, trying to scare him into releasing the monk.
"Are you the reinforcement this impudent monkey called for?"
Yet looking at Bodhisattva, Red Child heard a cold hum.
Guanyin, however, didn’t pay him any attention, as if she hadn’t heard him at all.
The demon roared, "Are you mute?"
Even as he yelled, there was still no response from the other side.
Red Child snorted coldly, gripping his spear tightly before thrusting directly at Bodhisattva.
Standing behind Guanyin, Wukong witnessed this scene, thinking to himself that the Bodhisattva had to intervene personally this time.
But as the spear neared, Bodhisattva unexpectedly turned into a flash of light and shot off into the distance.
Wukong frowned slightly and, without hesitation, quickly followed.
Upon ascending to the sky, Wukong asked out of curiosity, "Bodhisattva, why did you pretend to be deaf and dumb, not uttering a word, and then flee from his spear?"
While speaking, Wukong looked down, only to see that the Lotus Platform was still in its original place.
It was truly an embarrassing situation.
Guanyin waved her hand and said, "No need for more words. Just watch what happens next."
At that moment, both Wukong and Merciful Shore Walker stood behind Guanyin Bodhisattva, watching the demon below.
Upon seeing this scene, Red Child sneered and said, "You impudent monkey, I didn’t expect you to be so useless. In our first encounter, you turned and ran; in this one, you fled after just a few exchanges. And now you’ve summoned such an inefficient Bodhisattva, who got scared away by a single thrust of my spear!"
"Truly useless. I’ve heard that the treasures of Buddhism include this Lotus Platform, and now you’ve abandoned it, leaving it here for me to sit upon."
At this point, Red Child was feeling quite smug, thinking he had triumphed over the Bodhisattva and the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, and, as he spoke, he even sat down on the Lotus Platform.
He posed pretentiously, imitating the posture of Bodhisattva.
Seeing this, Wukong chuckled and said, "Bodhisattva, it seems you won’t get your Lotus Platform back this time!"
"Wukong, stop your nonsense!"
Guanyin waved hand and replied.
But Wukong continued, "I’m not speaking nonsense. Look, that demon has already seated himself on the Lotus Platform; he probably won’t give it back to you easily!"
Watching Red Child seated and looking amused, Wukong couldn’t help but laugh.
"That’s exactly what I want him to do," Guanyin said with a smile.
Wukong nodded, "This demon’s small frame does indeed seem more stable than yours, Bodhisattva!"
Guanyin spoke softly, "No more words, just watch."
As Guanyin spoke, she twirled the willow branch and waved it downward, sending down a blessed light.
The once resplendent Lotus Platform’s light faded, transforming into countless swords.
Although Red Child was sitting atop the swords, his strength as a Great Demon meant he was not immediately harmed.
Enraged that he had been tricked, Red Child was about to leave the Lotus Platform. However, at that moment—
Merciful Shore Walker emitted a terrifying light; in an instant, he pressed down directly towards Red Child.
With muffled thuds!
Red Child, despite his remarkable strength, could not withstand the Art of Transformation from Guanyin.
The swords had already pierced Red Child’s body in an instant; yet, even then, Red Child didn’t give up. Instead, he dropped his spear and began to pull out the swords that had stabbed into his flesh.
Seeing this, Wukong couldn’t help but smile and said, "Bodhisattva, it seems this demon isn’t afraid of pain at all! It won’t be easy to subdue him."
Guanyin gazed deeply at Wukong and then said, "You monkey!"
At this point, Red Child showed a pained expression; although he was a Great Demon, he could not endure such wounds.
Red Child looked at Guanyin Bodhisattva once more, his face showing a pained expression as he said, "Bodhisattva, I was blind and didn’t recognize your significant mana, I beg for your great mercy to spare my life!"
"I dare not act arrogantly or wickedly anymore, even entering Buddhism to receive discipline would be fine."
Hearing Red Child’s words,
compassion appeared on Guanyin Bodhisattva’s face, and then she descended with Sun Wukong and Merciful Shore Walker.
In front of the demon, Guanyin Bodhisattva finally spoke, "Are you willing to join my Buddhist order?"
Red Child nodded, with tears in his eyes, "As long as the Bodhisattva spares my life, I am willing to enter the Buddhist monastery."
Guanyin Bodhisattva nodded and said, "If that’s the case, I shall initiate you and give you your precepts."
Subsequently, Guanyin Bodhisattva took out a golden head-shaving knife from her sleeve.
In the blink of an eye, she shaved Red Child’s hair, leaving only a few tufts.
Sun Wukong watched this scene with an indifferent eye, knowing that Guanyin had come here to take in a disciple, and their group of four were the knives of Buddhism.
Guanyin Bodhisattva continued, "Since you have received my precepts today, you are my disciple from now on. You will be called Shancai Tongzi, how about that?"
At this point, Red Child was still under control, and to save his own life, naturally, he was willing to accept anything!
Seeing that Red Child had accepted, Guanyin Bodhisattva then waved her hand.
In that instant, the swords that had pierced Red Child’s body disappeared without a trace.
And Red Child seemed unharmed as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.
"Younger brother, do not be so reckless in the future!"
Merciful Shore Walker nodded at this scene.
But Red Child still wanted to play, and now that the wounds were gone as if nothing had happened, he reached out, grabbed the long spear he had discarded to the side earlier.
Then, turning toward the Bodhisattva with an angry look, he said, "You, what kind of Bodhisattva? You have no real magical power, yet you expect me to convert to Buddhism?"
Red Child shouted, his spear thrusting directly towards Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Seeing this scene, Sun Wukong quickly retreated several steps, letting the Bodhisattva handle everything!
Guanyin Bodhisattva saw what was happening and also noticed Sun Wukong rapidly retreating.
Guanyin Bodhisattva frowned but said nothing.
She just raised her hand and a golden hoop appeared.
"This treasure was originally bestowed upon me by the Tathagata for finding the scripture seeker in the Eastern Land, the Golden Tightening Bands, three hoops."
"Tight Hoop, I’ve already placed on you, the restricting hoop has been taken by the Mountain Guardian Deity, and this golden hoop has not yet been given to anyone. Today, since this demon is so unreasonable, I shall give it to him!"
Guanyin Bodhisattva flicked her hand, tossing out the golden hoop, which unfurled in the wind.
Guanyin Bodhisattva softly spoke, "Transform!"
Immediately after, the golden hoop turned into five hoops and wrapped directly around Red Child’s body.
Seeing this, Red Child’s face showed panic, knowing the golden hoop was definitely not something positive. If it were to ensnare him, it would certainly be dangerous, and he tried to dodge.
But he was not able to escape.
Before he got far, the hoops landed on his head and one on each of his limbs.
"If this demon can endure it, I cannot endure even one!"
Sun Wukong couldn’t help but speak out at this sight.
Hearing this, Guanyin Bodhisattva began to recite the incantation.
Sun Wukong frowned slightly and then said, "Bodhisattva, you were supposed to subdue demons and eliminate evil, not recite mine!"
Upon hearing this, Guanyin Bodhisattva glanced at Sun Wukong and replied, "This one is not for you, rest assured!"
Sun Wukong was naturally not worried, but if it were recited for him, it would be quite a hassle to deal with.
If the Bodhisattva realized it, it could be troublesome.
But it was better not to let her find out.
Afterward, Guanyin Bodhisattva’s mouth recited the incantation, and upon hearing the Bodhisattva’s words, Red Child started rolling on the ground, roaring loudly.
"Bodhisattva, stop reciting!"
Red Child knew it must be because of the scripture Guanyin Bodhisattva was reciting, so he dared not disobey the Bodhisattva anymore.
Hearing Red Child’s words, Guanyin Bodhisattva then stopped speaking and did not continue.
As soon as Guanyin Bodhisattva stopped, Red Child immediately felt the pain subside.
Then he got up to inspect the golden hoops on his body, feeling that they were squeezing him painfully.
He tried to remove the hoops, but the treasure seemed to have its own consciousness, taking root as he struggled, causing greater pain the more he tried.
Red Child knew he was controlled, grabbed the spear beside him, and aimed to attack Guanyin.
But before he could get close, the five hoops tightened again.
Red Child couldn’t hold onto the spear in his hand, and it fell to the ground.
Making a dull sound.
"Bodhisattva, I will enter the monastery, I will enter the monastery!"
