Chapter 255 - 256: Let Buddhism Save People by Itself

Chapter 255: Chapter 256: Let Buddhism Save People by Itself

While Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie were idly fishing, Sand Monk was diligently searching for the whereabouts of his master.

"Sand Monk!"

At that moment, Sand Monk heard a voice.

Sand Monk recognized it, and it was clearly the voice of Guanyin.

"Bodhisattva!"

Sand Monk then hurriedly said, "My master has been captured by demons, and I do not know where to search. Both the eldest and second senior brothers want to give up. What should I do?"

"If you wish to save Xuanzang, you need to work together in harmony!"

The Bodhisattva did not appear in person, but her voice slowly came, as though traveling a million miles.

"Yes, Bodhisattva!"

Sand Monk brought his hands together in prayer and said, "Amitabha Buddha!"

Then the voice of the Bodhisattva disappeared.

Sand Monk turned and started searching in the direction of his elder brothers.

"Eldest brother, second brother!"

As Sand Monk went away, Guanyin Bodhisattva then appeared above the void.

"Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie really are variables in the Calamity of Measurement, what a pity they are the focus of the calamity, yet they still require some discipline!"

Guanyin Bodhisattva said with a slight frown.

Soon after, Guanyin Bodhisattva disappeared above the void.

At that moment, on a large rock.

Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie were sitting on the rock, with no intention of searching for their master.

Zhu Bajie’s face showed some worry, but Sun Wukong’s face showed no concern at all!

"Big..."

Just as Zhu Bajie was about to say something, the voice of Sand Monk came from afar.

"Eldest brother, second brother!"

The voice of Sand Monk, from distant to near, quickly approached.

Zhu Bajie turned his head towards the direction of the voice, indeed, a figure was at a distance, it was Sand Monk.

Zhu Bajie got up and went to greet him.

"Junior Brother Sand, do you have any leads?"

Zhu Bajie greeted him, his face showing a look of surprise.

"I just encountered Guanyin Bodhisattva. She telepathically conveyed that we need to work together in order to save our master again!"

"Junior Brother Sand speaks well!"

Zhu Bajie nodded on the surface, but his heart suddenly understood that it must be the immortals and Buddhas in heaven who knew they did not want to save their master that they would say this.

"But Junior Brother Sand, how should we find the master?"

Sand Monk frowned and said, "Brother, I have walked in that direction for a long while and haven’t spotted any demons. It seems we can only ask the land deity to come out!"

Zhu Bajie nodded and said, "Let’s first go and find our eldest brother!"

At that moment, Sun Wukong also slowly opened his eyes.

"Does Junior Brother Sand have any clues?"

Sun Wukong looked at Zhu Bajie with a half-smile before he spoke.

Sand Monk shook his head and said, "It seems we are still far from the demon’s cave dwelling, so perhaps we really need to summon the mountain god and land deity!"

Without further hesitation, Sand Monk stomped on the ground.

Bang!

The ground emitted a thunderous sound.

In an instant, several figures appeared before them.

"This mountain is called Drill Head Mountain, extending for six hundred miles."

"We are the mountain gods and land deities at every ten miles, totaling thirty mountain gods and thirty land deities."

"Since yesterday we heard that the Great Sage along with two immortals had arrived, the gathering was delayed due to unavailability at the moment, hence our late arrival. We seek your forgiveness."

One of the mountain gods spoke up.

Zhu Bajie snorted coldly, then calmly said, "I shall excuse your offenses this time. How many demons are there on this mountain?"

Among them, one was Marshal Tianpeng and the other the Great General Who Lifts the Curtain.

Though they had been exiled to the mortal world, they still retained the majesty of great gods from the Celestial Court.

Not to mention the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, who although was not an immortal from heaven, had once caused a great upheaval in the Celestial Palace.

No need to mention being summoned by these three.

The gods spoke hastily: "Grandfather, there is only one demon, which has already plucked our hairs clean, causing us to lose all our offerings. All of us are in tattered clothes with hardly any offerings left; what if there were more demons?"

Sun Wukong laughed and asked, "Where does this demon reside?"

The mountain gods and land deities hurriedly said, "In this mountain is a stream called Withered Pine Stream by which there lies a cave called Fiery Cloud Cave. In that cave resides a Demon King, with immense divine skills, who often takes us mountain gods and land deities away. Whenever a command is heard, we dare not refuse and must serve him!"

Zhu Bajie also expressed his surprise: "You are considered underworld fairies, yet you still need to make offerings to him?"

"Indeed, having nothing to offer him, we can only catch a few mountain roes and deer, occasionally tricking spirits and monsters. If we have nothing to present, these demons will come to dismantle our temples and strip our clothes, leaving us unable to live peacefully!"

"Now that a few Great Immortals have arrived, we hope that the Great Saint and the gods will eliminate this demon and save the creatures of the mountain."

Sand Monk also frowned as he listened: "Being under his control, you must know where this demon comes from, what is his name?"

One of the mountain gods looked towards Sun Wukong and said, "Speaking of him, maybe the Great Saint also knows, he is the son of the Bull Demon King, raised by the Rakshasa Women."

"He once practiced in the Flame Mountain for three hundred years, mastering the Samadhi True Fire, his divine skills are also vast."

"It is indeed the Bull Demon King who assigned him to guard this place, his milk name is the Red Child, known as the Holy Infant Great King."

Upon hearing this, Sand Monk and Zhu Bajie turned their heads towards Sun Wukong.

"Eldest brother, who would have thought you knew this demon!"

"Now our master should be safe, right?"

Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk, upon hearing the words of the mountain god, both looked at Sun Wukong oddly.

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong couldn’t help but shake his head and say, "I absolutely do not know the Bull Demon King!"

Back when he was at Mount Huaguo, he had always hidden inside his own cave dwelling.

Where would he have gone to meet anyone?

"Great Sage, didn’t you meet the Bull Demon King when you went to the Eastern Sea? Although you didn’t become sworn brothers, you did meet once!"

One of the mountain gods spoke up.

In the realm of Earth Immortals, there was nothing that the mountain gods and land deities did not know about.

"Who would have thought Brother Monkey had relatives even from such distant lands!"

"Now our master is surely saved!"

Both Sand Monk and Zhu Bajie couldn’t help but show expressions of surprise.

"It’s been so many years since then; I’ve already forgotten, not to mention that it was just a brief meeting!"

Sun Wukong said uncertainly, not holding much hope about this matter.

The relationships among these demons weren’t that good, and since the Bull Demon King had placed his son here, he might even be connected to Buddhism.

Thus, he paid even less attention to it!

"If that’s the case, you may leave now!"

Sun Wukong waved his hand, signaling for the mountain gods and land deities to leave.

After a while, the mountain gods and land deities each departed, just hoping that Sun Wukong and his companions could handle this demon!

"Senior brother, this time it looks like it’s up to you to go!"

Sand Monk looked at Sun Wukong, since he knew the father of the demon, perhaps giving some face could get their master released and let them leave.

"Senior brother!"

Zhu Bajie also looked towards Sun Wukong, unsure of what his senior brother planned to do.

"Alright, let’s go together and look for our master, perhaps that demon will be willing to return our father to us!"

Sun Wukong nodded, appearing to agree to rescue their master.

However, the journey was a bit long, so naturally, it wasn’t possible for all three to go together.

In the end, it was decided that Sand Monk would stay here while Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong went together, in case of any mishaps.

They could also look out for each other.

After Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie arranged everything, they left for Withered Pine Stream.

Upon reaching the steep cliffs of the bizarre rock mountain, it was indeed just as those local mountain gods had described.

The ancient path was deep, serene, and quiet, with uniquely beautiful scenery.

Monkeys howled and birds chirped among the flowers and trees, vines intertwined on the rocks, presenting a superiority of orchids and ferns.

"Big brother, how did you agree again?"

Zhu Bajie couldn’t help but become curious again. Initially, Zhu Bajie thought Sun Wukong would not agree at all, but ended up agreeing after all.

"If I didn’t agree, wouldn’t that mean Old Sun didn’t want to rescue our master? Just make a trip there, and if we return, just say we didn’t find him!"

Sun Wukong said noncommittally.

"Are you trying to catch the autumn breeze here? Just go out for a walk and then return?"

Zhu Bajie, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but be dumbfounded, realizing that Sun Wukong was actually prepared just to make the trip and return.

No wonder he agreed so quickly.

As the two walked forward, they spotted a stone tablet appearing ahead, inscribed with eight characters, marking the ’Withered Pine Stream Fiery Cloud Cave’.

"Fool, we are getting ready to go back!"

Sun Wukong, upon seeing these eight characters, then spoke up.

"Alright!"

Zhu Bajie naturally did not wish to have a big battle with those monsters.

Just then, a figure appeared in the sky above; it was Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"This monkey, behaving like this, even Tianpeng is being led astray!"

Upon seeing Sun Wukong preparing to turn around and leave, she shook her head immediately.

She raised her hand, and a gentle breeze swept through.

Some little demons, who originally paid no mind to the gate, now couldn’t help but look towards the distance and saw Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie standing far off.

"Audacious, where did this monkey and pig demon come from? Scram, this isn’t a place you can just approach!"

"Scram, this place belongs to the Great Demon of this land, this mountain is my Great King’s territory, don’t even think about getting close!"

"..."

The little demons angrily waved their hands.

"Brothers, do you notice that these two demons look a lot like Zhu Bajie and Monkey Sun?"

One of the little demons seemed to recognize Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie, frowning as he spoke.

"Big brother, they’ve spotted us!"

Zhu Bajie, seeing this scene, frowned and spoke.

"Little ones, let’s rush to inform Holy Infant Great King, lest we get caught unprepared by these two demons!"

The demons hurriedly left and then quickly went to find their Great King.

Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong saw this scene.

"Big brother, what do we do?"

"Should we fight our way in?"

Zhu Bajie, seeing this, hesitated a bit. He didn’t expect these demons to run away upon seeing them.

"Let’s go!"

Sun Wukong shook his head, "What’s there to fight? Let Buddhism rescue the person themselves!"
