Chapter 230 - 231: Great Immortal Zhen Yuanzi, What Do You Think?

Chapter 230: Chapter 231: Great Immortal Zhen Yuanzi, What Do You Think?

"Ginseng Fruit?"

Sun Wukong saw the three fruits in Sand Monk’s arms and couldn’t help but be stunned.

"That’s right, Senior Brother, they are indeed Ginseng Fruits!"

Seeing that everyone was present, Sand Monk couldn’t help but speak up, "Since that is the case, let’s share them together!"

"Junior Brother Sand, you should return them instead!"

Sun Wukong shook his head.

If this Sand Monk were his monkey grandchild, he would have been beaten severely already.

He had said not to steal, yet this Sand Monk even intended to steal, really making him angry beyond words.

Initially, upon hearing about the unique properties of these fruits, he knew the importance of these fruits, and if discovered, wouldn’t it offend people?

"Senior Brother, I’ve already picked these fruits; how could they be returned? Wouldn’t I be labeled a thief if I did?"

Sand Monk continued to persuade them.

...

At this time atop Mount Huaguo, the powerful formation even blocked the vision of Saints.

A figure entered the middle of Mount Huaguo.

This was Wang Yang.

"Senior Brother, why are you here?"

Just as Wang Yang entered Sun Wukong’s cave dwelling, Sun Wukong had already noticed and came out to meet him.

"I knew it was you, Senior Brother, who has been strengthening my formation these past few days!"

As the controller of the formation, Sun Wukong naturally could clearly sense any changes in his own formation, but he hadn’t bothered about it until now.

Now that his Senior Brother entered the formation.

Sun Wukong was naturally overjoyed to see his Senior Brother again.

"This time, I’ve come in hopes you will do as I say so Buddhism will fail to steal chickens and lose the rice instead!"

Over these years, although Wang Yang had been traveling everywhere, he hadn’t neglected the Calamity of Measurement of Journey to the West now that it had begun.

He also had to make some plans.

Of course, this was for Sun Wukong as well as for himself.

After all, he could only benefit by changing the fate of these Persons of Celestial Destiny.

"Oh?"

Upon hearing this, a hint of surprise showed on Sun Wukong’s face.

He had long wanted to deal with those from the Western Buddhist Sect, but never really had the chance, more importantly, his Senior Brother had reminded him that Immortals and Buddhas were powerful, not something ordinary people could withstand.

So he had been diligently cultivating, while his clone had gone to the Western Heaven.

Now that his Senior Brother said so, he was naturally very interested.

"How should I go about this?"

Wang Yang opened his mouth but used telepathy instead.

At this moment, beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens, Taiqing Daode Tianzun had been paying attention to Sun Wukong, only to suddenly discover that the formation outside Sun Wukong’s cave had become powerful.

"Does this monkey know I’m watching him?"

"However, attempting to block me with such a method is rather naive!"

Taiqing Daode Tianzun raised his hand and a powerful force swept down, making the originally unshakeable formation appear precarious in that moment.

At the same time, he clearly saw everything within.

He saw that Sun Wukong was still meditatively sitting as if he had never left, always vigorously cultivating.

"It seems I’ve been overthinking; what kind of tricks can one monkey conjure anyway?"

The Ancestral Master spoke with some resignation.

...

Meanwhile, the three disciples were discussing the Ginseng Fruit.

No matter how Sand Monk persuaded, he failed to convince them to eat.

He couldn’t help but feel somewhat frustrated.

The fruits were right in front of them, such tremendous treasures, and yet Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong were not tempted to eat?

"Junior Brother Sand, if you are reluctant to return the Ginseng Fruit to them, then you might as well eat it yourself!"

A glint flashed in Sun Wukong’s eyes, as though something had changed.

Zhu Bajie looked at Sun Wukong in disbelief; after all, Sun Wukong, who was always cautious and vigilant, wouldn’t normally make such a decision.

But since Sun Wukong had decided so, he naturally followed his lead.

"Big Senior Brother, Second Senior Brother, since the decision is made, we might as well share the fruit!"

Sand Monk still seemed unwilling to give up and spoke up.

Zhu Bajie was actually somewhat tempted, after all, it was the Ginseng Fruit.

He looked towards Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong shook his head and said, "I’ll say it again, Junior Brother Sand, you can either eat it yourself or return it to those Boys to avoid bringing us trouble!"

The Sand Monk, hearing Sun Wukong’s words, felt extraordinarily sulky. They had already fought their way to their presence, yet they didn’t even partake.

However, he could only return to his room and stare at the three ginseng fruits.

Naturally, he did not wish to simply give them back.

He opened his mouth and ate the three ginseng fruits.

Meanwhile, Qing Feng and Mingyue, who had long anticipated that the three disciples would steal the fruits, returned to their room only to see the Golden Cicada lying on the ground.

"As expected, these monks have already laid their hands on it!"

Seeing this, Qing Feng was not surprised and quickly pulled Mingyue toward the courtyard of the ginseng fruit tree.

The two hurried toward the ginseng fruit tree, only to find that the gate leading to it was open.

Feigning surprise, Qing Feng said, "I locked this door, how come it’s open now?"

They quickly entered the courtyard and started counting the fruits on the ginseng fruit tree in front of them.

Inspecting the fruit-laden tree beneath, no matter how they counted, the final tally always came to only twenty-two.

Mingyue furrowed his brows and said, "Let’s figure out exactly how many are missing."

Qing Feng nodded and replied, "We should calculate first, so we can decide how many to steal for ourselves."

After a moment of hesitation, Mingyue began to calculate, "The ginseng fruit tree originally had thirty fruits."

"The master opened the grove and shared two, leaving twenty-eight. Today, two were taken for Xuanzang, leaving twenty-six, and now only twenty-two remain. Clearly, four are missing?"

"Something’s not right. Xuanzang already ate; how come these people picked four? Can we still steal some now?"

The two exchanged glances. They had been considering stealing one, but the master and disciples, showing no courtesy, took away four at once.

They really had a tough time explaining this situation.

"Let’s scold that Xuanzang first. He seems so pious, yet he conspires with his disciples to steal our fruits!"

They left the courtyard and hurried to the temple.

At this point, having consumed the fruit, Xuanzang sat in meditative trance within the temple, his aura stable—clearly having finished his epiphany. His understanding of Buddhist law had deepened, giving onlookers an extraordinary feeling at a glance.

It was as if that single look made one want to follow Xuanzang in conversion.

However, they quickly recovered and began scolding Xuanzang with a flood of foul language, calling him a baldy before and after.

Xuanzang frowned and opened his eyes, saying, "Immortal Child, what is this fuss? If there’s an issue, we can discuss it calmly—there’s no need for such wild accusations."

With a cold snort, Qing Feng shot back, "Are you deaf or something? You stole the ginseng fruit, and we shouldn’t speak up?"

Xuanzang replied with a frown, "Wasn’t the ginseng fruit given to me by you? How does that become stealing?"

With a harrumph, Mingyue retorted, "We just brought it for you to eat, and you accepted it. Can’t you get enough? You actually let your disciple steal more?"

Xuanzang pressed his palms together and shook his head, "Amitabha Buddha! Although it is a fruit, if my disciples hadn’t transformed it into an apple, I wouldn’t have been able to eat it. I thank you both, but we certainly didn’t do this. Don’t misjudge us."

Qing Feng glared at Xuanzang and said, "You seem all righteous, but now that the evidence is piled up, you still dare to argue? Clearly, it’s your followers who have eaten it."

Xuanzang, frowning, replied, "Your words are not without reason. Don’t shout; I’ll call them over. If they truly did steal, they can compensate you."

"Compensate? How can you compensate us? Even with money, there is nowhere to buy such a thing!"

Xuanzang was aware of the ginseng fruit’s uniqueness and called his disciples over.

Upon hearing the summons, the Sand Monk grew somewhat panicked.

He realized that his actions might be exposed.

After all, it was he who had stolen and eaten the ginseng fruit.

He became decidedly nervous.

As for Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong, they appeared unconcerned. Since they were not involved in the theft nor had they eaten any, they were naturally indifferent.

With some resignation, Zhu Bajie said, "Master, the meal is almost ready—what do you want us for?"

Xuanzang, glancing at Qing Feng and Mingyue, who stood to one side watching dispassionately, then said, "Disciples, this isn’t about the meal. I want to ask which one of you has eaten his ginseng fruit?"

Zhu Bajie, glancing at the Sand Monk, thought to himself how lucky he was to not have eaten one out of gluttony, before saying, "I’m honest—I know nothing about it and haven’t seen anything."

Sun Wukong, with a smile, added, "Old Sun has tasted many an immortal fruit and wine—this item is nothing special!"

"Look at that smile of his; how can he say he hasn’t eaten?"

Qing Feng and Mingyue pointed at Sun Wukong, dissatisfied.

Sun Wukong, unimpressed by their baseless accusations, responded, "Old Sun was born with this expression. You’re missing some fruit, and you won’t even let me smile?"

Xuanzang glanced at his three disciples before speaking, "If you really ate it, then so be it. We monks don’t lie. If you did eat it, just apologize to them; there’s no need for this denial, is there?"

Sun Wukong glanced at the Sand Monk, who thought he was going to be reported and was already preparing for punishment. There was nothing he could do—it was a mission from above, after all.

Sun Wukong shifted his gaze away and then plainly said, "Master, seeing you enjoy it so much, we also wanted to try, so each of us took one. Now that they’ve been eaten, what next?"

Upon hearing Sun Wukong’s words, the Sand Monk was stunned and then said with some complication, "Senior Brother!"

The Sand Monk’s heart was torn; he was the thief and the one who ate, but now his senior brother had taken the blame.

Mingyue scoffed, "He stole four of ours, and this monk still denies being the thief!"

Qing Feng and Mingyue grew even more enthusiastic in their accusations, finding themselves indefatigable in their righteousness.

At this moment, high above the void.

Two figures stood above the void, one an elder with an air of noble integrity.

The other was a youth, unmistakably Wang Yang if Sun Wukong had been there to see.

"Great Immortal Zhen Yuanzi, what do you make of this?"
