Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong’s fate
Chapter 223 - 224: Is it yours just because you wear it?

Chapter 223: Chapter 224: Is it yours just because you wear it?

Sun Wukong’s voice echoed through Black Wind Mountain, and in an instant, as if piercing through space-time, it reached the interior of Black Wind Cave. If possible, the Monkey King still did not wish to resort to violence.

To a mere mortal, a common little demon, Sun Wukong simply could not muster any interest; more importantly, if it weren’t for his missing kasaya, he would not have even wanted to retrieve it.

The little demon guarding the door opened it and came out, frowning and shouting, "Who are you to come to the Immortal Cave and run wild!"

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong laughed and scolded, "You little demon, to dare call this broken place an Immortal Cave! Go inside and inform your Great King to quickly hand over Old Sun’s kasaya and spare your lives!"

Meanwhile, without needing the little demon’s report, the Black Bear Spirit had already heard the commotion outside.

Glancing to the side, he saw Elder Jinchi, who was indeed wearing the Brocaded Kasaya.

"Jinchi, did you not claim that this kasaya was a gift from Guanyin Bodhisattva? Why then is this monkey speaking thus!"

Panic flickered in Elder Jinchi’s eyes; he clutched the Brocaded Kasaya on his body, as if afraid someone would snatch it from him.

In a rush, he said, "Don’t listen to his nonsense; this kasaya is a gift from Guanyin Bodhisattva to me. Those two with the monkey are just a group of bandits. They coveted my kasaya, pretended to be monks, snuck into my Guanyin Zen Center, and, in order to steal my treasure, even set fire to my Zen Monastery. Utterly detestable!"

The Black Bear Spirit was naturally born in the wilderness but had a certain fondness for Buddhism; otherwise, he would not have such a good relationship with Elder Jinchi, to whom he even offered elixirs to prolong his life.

Having heard Elder Jinchi’s words, without a second thought, he decried the existence of such wicked people in the world and slapped his thigh, casually picking up a Black Tasseled Spear by his side.

In that moment, as he stood up, a powerful Monster Energy scattered in all directions.

With a fierce shake, the inside of Black Wind Cave erupted with fierce winds and flying rocks.

He stood in front of Elder Jinchi, embodying a righteous air, and said, "Leave this ruffian to me; I will help you drive him away!"

"Many thanks, Great King!"

Joy exploded across Elder Jinchi’s face; with the Black Bear Spirit taking action, why should he fear this monkey?

In the market of the Zen Monastery, he already knew that the monkey was not easy to deal with. When he saw everyone starting the fire, he worried about some mishap; thus, he intended to return after things settled, only to discover the Zen Monastery ablaze upon his escape.

After discussing the path with the Black Bear Spirit for so many years, he certainly knew how formidable the Black Bear Spirit was. He’d heard the Black Bear Spirit managed to gain his current strength with the help of a more powerful being’s enlightenment.

Now with the Black Bear Spirit by his side, even if the monkey possessed tremendous power, he would certainly not be his match.

As long as the monkey perished at the hands of the Black Bear Spirit, wouldn’t the Brocaded Kasaya become his possession?

"It’s but a small effort, keeping such an evil man here would also be a plague on all beings!"

As he spoke, the Black Bear Spirit, wielding his Black Cherry Spear, had already stepped out of Black Wind Cave.

He then saw a monkey standing at the entrance to Black Wind Cave.

Although he merely stood there, one could sense a powerful aura spreading around him, as if space itself was folding, twisting, and transforming. Though he held what appeared to be a mere wooden stick, a Daoist Charm was condensed around it, signifying extraordinary power.

"Your presence is impressive, why are you forcefully seizing and plundering from Elder Jinchi? Not only have you burned his Zen Monastery, but you are also trying to snatch away his kasaya?"

The Black Bear Spirit recognized Sun Wukong’s formidable strength at a glance; usually, he would have preferred to retreat, but today was different. For the sake of pride, he asked the question anyway.

"His kasaya? When did it become his kasaya?"

Sun Wukong snorted coldly, "And you say Old Sun burned down his Zen Monastery? Was it not he who wanted to burn us to death, to snatch this kasaya? Then the wind changed, spreading the fire throughout Guanyin Zen Center, did it not?"

"Words are not proof; the Brocaded Kasaya is now on Elder Jinchi’s body. Elder Jinchi also claimed that you folks wanted to forcefully plunder it!"

Of course, the Black Bear Spirit would not believe Sun Wukong’s words, for his relationship with Elder Jinchi was good. Between believing this monkey with a mouth like Thunder Duke and Elder Jinchi, he naturally trusted Elder Jinchi.

"If that’s the case, then don’t blame your Grandpa Sun for being merciless!"

Originally intending to take action, who would have thought that this Black Bear Spirit would be so unyielding, not even delivering the goods?

After Sun Wukong’s words fell, stick in hand, he leaped.

In an instant, he appeared in front of the Black Bear Spirit, swinging the stick like the Pillar That Supports The Heavens, and smashed it down at the Black Bear Spirit.

When the Black Bear Spirit saw Sun Wukong’s swift strike, with such incredible speed that he was immediately before him, the fall of the stick conjured a formidable storm.

Although this was only a clone, since the main body had attained the Quasi-Saint Middle Stage, the clone’s strength was naturally no trifling matter. Despite usually only displaying Taiyi Golden Immortal cultivation level, at that moment, a Quasi-Saint aura erupted.

The mere presence of Holy Qi already intimidated the Black Bear Spirit.

Boom!

Sun Wukong’s stick already slammed down, and the Black Bear Spirit instinctively tried to block with his Black Tasseled Spear.

Though the Black Tasseled Spear appeared extraordinary, to Sun Wukong’s true cultivation level, even a twig from the roadside could unleash great power.

Besides, his wooden material came from the Peach Tree, containing the natural rhythm of heaven and earth, which was not to be compared to ordinary items.

Compared to the Black Tasseled Spear, it was many times more powerful.

So in an instant, as the Black Bear Spirit barely mounted a defense, his long spear shattered.

The Black Bear Spirit himself bore the brunt of a tremendous force, retreating repeatedly until he finally steadied himself, only to spew a mouthful of fresh blood.

This is because the Monkey did not intend to kill the opponent.

Otherwise, just by slightly releasing his strength, he could have easily crushed this little Black Bear Spirit to death.

"With my strength, how could you possibly block me with yours!"

Sun Wukong’s voice resonated majestically, echoing between heaven and earth, filled with the aura of the Daoist charm of the cosmos.

"Don’t listen to his nonsense; this Brocaded Kasaya is mine!"

Elder Jinchi’s voice came from within the Black Wind Cave, as he cautiously watched Sun Wukong.

If not for the fact that there was only one exit from the Black Wind Cave, he would have left long ago—he would have to go past the Monkey to leave.

Upon hearing Elder Jinchi’s words, for a moment, the Black Bear Spirit was also unable to discern whose words were true.

After all, with Sun Wukong’s strength, if he truly wanted to seize, there was no need to set fire to the Zen Monastery, but the relationship between Elder Jinchi and him was profound; naturally, he was inclined to believe Elder Jinchi.

"Just because it’s worn on your body, it’s yours?"

Sun Wukong tapped the ground with his wooden staff. Without even having to exert his power, a powerful Taiyi Golden Immortal’s aura spread out, and behind him emerged a terrifying presence.

Without being fully unleashed, a horrifying aura surged, causing the entire Black Wind Mountain to shake and tremble immensely.

It was as if he could easily destroy Black Wind Mountain if he so wished.

"Now that Old Sun stands atop Black Wind Mountain, does it not belong to me?"

Sun Wukong’s voice was icy as his gaze fell on Elder Jinchi.

Elder Jinchi suddenly felt an intense intimidation. Merely a glance made him feel as if he had fallen into the Eighteen Layers of Hell, never to be reborn; the look in those eyes was truly terrifying.

"Amitabha Buddha!"

Just then, a voice full of compassion resonated.

Resonating mightily and supremely majestic.

It was as if they witnessed countless Shami chanting scriptures in the void.

At the same time, a graceful figure emerged from within.

This person was seated on a Lotus Platform, holding the Jade Pure Bottle, with a willow branch inside swaying and emitting a strange light.

Around her, many Buddhist laws converged, containing many mysteries.

It was Guanyin Bodhisattva.

The Black Bear Spirit had received her enlightenment in the past, becoming one of the challenges in the Calamity of Measurement during the Journey to the West.

It was a consequence of Buddhism and also the future Mountain Guardian Deity of Mount Luojia.

As for Elder Jinchi’s Guanyin Zen Center, it was also closely related to Guanyin.

"Greetings to Guanshiyin Bodhisattva!"

Seeing Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Black Bear Spirit bowed continuously, and Elder Jinchi behind him did so even more respectfully, paying his homage.

The Monkey stood at a distance, watching with cold eyes.

Now that Guanyin Bodhisattva had come, everything could be brought to an end; there was no need for him to take action anymore.

She glanced at Sun Wukong, then withdrew her gaze, and pointed her finger at Elder Jinchi.

In that instant, the Kasaya that had been on Elder Jinchi separated, transforming into a streak of golden light, darting straight towards Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"Kasaya, my Kasaya!"

Witnessing this scene, Elder Jinchi choked up, and suddenly began to cry.

"Jinchi, you still linger in delusion; as a member of the ordained, you coveted the Brocaded Kasaya to the extent of killing and arson, committing the four sins of greed, anger, delusion, and hatred. Do you not realize your mistake?"

Guanyin Bodhisattva’s voice was imbued with a rich Daoist charm, yet Elder Jinchi showed no sign of repentance.

Instead, he glared furiously at Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"Where have I gone wrong, where? I think it’s clear you’re the one who’s wrong! I am two hundred seventy years old this year. Ever since I was conscious, I have devoutly worshiped Buddha every day, worshiped you for over two hundred years!"

"If we talk about devoutly worshiping Buddha, I dare say, if I claim the second place, no one will dare to claim the first!"

"Even for your Buddha statue, I crafted it in pure gold, allowing you to receive over two hundred years of incense burning. But in the end, you even want to take away a Kasaya from me!"

Guanyin’s face remained indifferent, betraying no emotions.

A veil of mist seemed to shroud her face, exuding an air of aloofness, impenetrable to others.

In response to Elder Jinchi’s words, she simply said, "Jinchi, you truly refuse to see reason. And having clung to life for over two hundred years, it’s time for you to enter reincarnation."

As she spoke, Guanyin Bodhisattva waved her willow branch.
