Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong’s fate -
Chapter 171: No One Dares to Trouble You, Sun Wukong Do as You Please
Chapter 171: Chapter 171: No One Dares to Trouble You, Sun Wukong Do as You Please
Sun Wukong was indeed very curious about the so-called opportunity provided by the Buddha Ancestor.
"Amitabha Buddha!"
Upon hearing Sun Wukong ask, Sakyamuni Tathagata maintained a calm expression, then brought his hands together and chanted a Buddhist name.
Originally, according to the planning of Amitabha Buddha and Saint Zhunti, the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West was supposed to involve Sun Wukong being suppressed for five hundred years, tormented daily by copper juice and iron water, and then rescued by Guanshiyin Bodhisattva.
This would make Sun Wukong feel grateful for being released, thus completing the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West.
However, now there were too many variables.
Whether it was the initial occupation of Sun Wukong’s territory by the Demon King of Chaos or Sun Wukong’s current preparations to seal himself.
This forced Buddhism to make some changes.
Thinking of this, Sakyamuni Tathagata glanced at the Western Sumeru Pure Land, then turned back to Sun Wukong and said, "After five hundred years, a monk will be born in the Southern Continent Jambudvipa, within the territories of Great Tang, and will then travel to Western Heaven to worship the Buddha and seek the merit of Mahayana Buddhism. On the way to the West, if you can join his tutelage and protect him on the journey to the Great Thunderclap Monastery of the West, once successful, that will be the highest merit!"
"This would far exceed the benefits of your meditative contemplation and ascetic practices!"
At this moment, Sakyamuni Tathagata gently coaxed Sun Wukong, hoping he would understand that it was all for his good.
After saying this, a glimmer of light flashed in Sakyamuni Tathagata’s hand, and a Bodhi seed the size of a dragon eye, resembling neither gold nor jade, appeared in his hand.
It was enveloped in Buddha’s light, resembling amber, with countless fine lines that looked quite peculiar.
If one looked closely, these lines seemed to contain infinite great worlds, embodying the power of the Great Dao.
Almost as soon as the Bodhi seed appeared, all the immortals and gods watching this scene were visibly stunned.
This was clearly a Saint’s object.
The Bodhi Tree is a sacred object of the Western Direction, where the Multi-Treasure Taoist reincarnated into India’s Shakyamuni realm and became a member of the Shakya clan. The day he attained enlightenment was beneath this Bodhi Tree.
Enlightened overnight, he achieved Buddhahood, took charge of the Western Ultimate Bliss World and Posa Pure Land, and became the master of the Great Thunderclap Monastery, Sakyamuni Tathagata.
The Bodhi Tree that guided Sakyamuni Tathagata to comprehend the supreme Buddhist Law also had an extraordinary origin.
This object was the original form of one of the two Saints of the Western Pure Land, Saint Zhunti, when he transformed.
After achieving the Dao Fruit of Daluo Golden Immortal of Infinite Wuji, he severed what he had transformed into.
And now this Bodhi seed, although not necessarily from the original Bodhi Tree of Saint Zhunti, the supreme Dao contained within, even if not, was probably left by a Saint carrying it with him.
Otherwise, it couldn’t emanate such a rich Dao contained aura.
For a moment, even the hearts of the deities in the Ninth celestial Palace were stirred upon seeing Sakyamuni Tathagata bestow this Bodhi seed to Sun Wukong, their eyes revealing a hint of greedy covetousness.
Yet Sakyamuni Tathagata seemed not to notice that countless people coveted this object; instead, he effortlessly tossed the Bodhi seed, which emitted a rich Dao contained aura, to Sun Wukong.
Of course, this was indeed a treasure carried by Saints.
However, few could truly see the value contained in this Bodhi seed.
This Bodhi seed was not only formed by the original body of Saint Zhunti, but it was also one that Saint Zhunti created when he had just proven his path. Not only did it contain the Dao, but it also had a hint of a Saint’s opportunity.
Now, after many years of nurture by Saint Zhunti, its Dao contained aura could almost be said to be extremely rich, giving one a feeling almost close to the Dao itself.
So even though Sakyamuni Tathagata appeared calm, he was inwardly in great agony.
He actually had to offer such an important treasure to Sun Wukong.
The value of this Bodhi seed, if classified by Spiritual Treasures, was no less than a Middle Grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, crucially being an extremely precious auxiliary cultivation treasure, comparable to the value of a Top Grade Innate Spiritual Treasure.
By taking out such a Bodhi seed, Sakyamuni Tathagata really made a huge sacrifice.
After all, needing to rely on Sun Wukong for the future, Sakyamuni Tathagata had no choice but to do so.
At this time, Sun Wukong looked at the golden, shimmering Bodhi seed in his hand, surrounded by rich Buddha’s light, and his golden eyes also flickered with an extraordinary light.
He had not expected that delaying Buddhism’s Journey to the West would still yield such a powerful treasure.
Especially feeling the rich Dao contained emanating from it, Sun Wukong’s heart was overwhelmingly excited.
Of course, all this was thanks to his elder brother-disciple.
If it weren’t for his elder brother-disciple telling him everything, and even conspiring with him on how to deal with the immortals and Buddhas, to truly vex them,
and prevent them from easily facilitating the Journey to the West.
Although Wang Yang had not mentioned what treasure Sakyamuni Tathagata would use to shut him up, if it were not for the suggestion by his brother-disciple that he could use self-sealing to vex them, key to making it difficult for them to protest,
his nature would never have come up with such a tactic.
It forced Sakyamuni Tathagata to take out such a treasure.
And seeing that Sun Wukong did not make unreasonable demands, Sakyamuni Tathagata also breathed a sigh of relief.
Although it cost a Bodhi seed of value no less than a Top Grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, if it could result in a smooth progression of the Journey to the West, then it was all worth it, so Sakyamuni Tathagata did not make a move himself.
However, they sent two Buddhist Arhats instead, taking Sun Wukong to the Earth Immortal Realm where Sun Wukong was supposed to be suppressed, allowing him to seal himself there.
After all, having accepted such valuable treasures from Sakyamuni Tathagata, Sun Wukong could not refuse.
He immediately followed the two Arhats, leaving the celestial Court and headed to the Southern Continent Jambudvipa, to the territory of Mount Wuzhi.
He sealed himself there.
Since he had already sealed himself, it meant that Buddhism and the celestial Court had no choice but to turn a blind eye and would not make things difficult for Sun Wukong.
After all, they did not have such deep grievances.
If the immortals and Buddhas had been in control of the situation, that would be one thing; Sun Wukong would have had no choice.
Sun Wukong would inevitably be punished and thus agree to enter the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West.
Now, Sun Wukong opting to seal himself for five thousand years resolved the situation—who would dare to trouble him? If Sun Wukong got angry, he could extend his self-sealing to fifty thousand years, and the Journey to the West wouldn’t need to be initiated.
So, for the immortals and Buddhas, as long as they could initiate the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West and keep it on track, they were satisfied and not too picky.
As long as the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West proceeded smoothly, and the Western Buddhist Sect prospered, that was enough.
As for anything else, forget about it.
However, once Sun Wukong sealed himself in the original territory of Mount Wuzhi, it finally allowed all the Buddhists to breathe a sigh of relief.
Now that Sun Wukong had truly entered the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West, they could rest easy.
Everything had to wait for the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West to start smoothly after five hundred years.
Then, after its completion, they would receive supreme merit.
Meanwhile, within the territory of Mount Huaguo, Sun Wukong began to arrange the formation in which he would seal himself in earnest.
With the humming sound beginning to rise.
One formation after another converged, and a very powerful sealing formation appeared in Two-Realm Mountain.
Seeing such a transformation, the two Arhats who were ordered to escort Sun Wukong for his self-sealing, could not help but be astonished.
Initially, they thought Sun Wukong would just make a perfunctory effort, but to their surprise, he went to the extent of setting up such a formidable formation.
They could feel that if they entered it, they would probably have been instantly sealed inside, unable to escape.
They were somewhat speechless; it was their first time seeing someone seal themselves so earnestly.
At the same time, a beam of spiritual light shot out from this terrifying Composite Formation and landed in front of the two Arhats.
The two Arhats exchanged glances before looking at this beam of light.
It turned out to be a talisman containing enormous and terrifying power of the formation, obviously with a restraining effect on the formation before them.
But why give this to them?
Suddenly, they heard Sun Wukong’s voice in their ears.
"Gentlemen, this talisman is the spirit talisman that controls the core of this formation. I hope you will carry out your duties diligently, supervising Old Sun to earnestly repent, so as not to betray the Buddha Ancestor’s kind intentions."
Hearing Sun Wukong’s voice, the corners of the Arhats’ mouths twitched.
Who would ask others to supervise them more strictly?
This was simply unimaginable!
After all, Sun Wukong had caused a great uproar in the celestial Palace and wanted to escape from the celestial Court. Now, however, he actually sealed himself here and even asked them to supervise him properly.
Actually, even if Sun Wukong left this place, as long as he entered the Calamity after five hundred years, that would be sufficient.
However, it seems that this monkey truly intends to seal himself now.
The two Arhats could not help but look towards the depth of the formation; indeed, in the center of this massive formation, Sun Wukong was sitting quietly, his face carrying a look of utmost seriousness.
Though the Arhats were puzzled, they nodded their heads.
While Buddhism would turn a blind eye, given that the Macaque was so earnest and sincere, they naturally felt more at ease.
In this way, when the Journey to the West started after five hundred years, everything might proceed smoothly.
Meanwhile, deep within the cave dwelling of Mount Huaguo, an extra Bodhi seed appeared in Sun Wukong’s hand.
"It doesn’t matter if my clone is sealed for five thousand years, take it slow. Once Old Sun grasps the aura, perhaps I can reach the quasi-saint pinnacle, and then... heh heh..."
Sun Wukong muttered to himself before beginning to comprehend the power of the Bodhi seed.
At this moment, Sakyamuni Tathagata also received a response from the two Arhats.
"Very good, the Journey to the West is officially underway. When Golden Cicada is reincarnated ten times to fulfillment, after the Journey to the West, they may ascend to Buddhahood!"
Sakyamuni Tathagata nodded.
