Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong’s fate -
Chapter 141 - 141 141 The Four Great Saints Gather in Qi
141: Chapter 141: The Four Great Saints Gather in Qi 141: Chapter 141: The Four Great Saints Gather in Qi Of course, most of the Orthodox Deities in the celestial Court were unaware that the Daoist Sect had already entered the fray.
They had even started orchestrating the Journey to the West Calamity, though very few were privy to this knowledge.
The fundamental reason for the Jade Emperor’s indecisiveness at this time was that he knew of the Daoist’s schemes and was also aware of the arrangements made by the Marshal of the celestial Court and Daoist Ancestor Taiqing.
Yet, he did not understand why they wanted to give the Banana Leaf Fan to Sun Wukong, or what their intentions were!
…
The situation was not just complex in the celestial Court.
In the Ultimate Bliss World, Mount Sumeru Pure Land.
This place was suffused with auspicious aura, complemented by Buddhist chanting, and the Eight-Petalled celestial Dragons soared, creating an atmosphere that was both majestic and sacredly harmonious.
Streaks of Buddha’s light flashed quickly.
Two figures moved swiftly, causing Shami to bow in worship and Arhats to step back, all loudly proclaiming, “The mercy of the Bodhisattva!”
This pair was none other than the Sunlight Bodhisattva and the Moonlight Bodhisattva, who had hurried back from Mount Huaguo.
However, their faces lacked their usual calmness, filled instead with worry.
They did not even glance at the Shamis and Arhats bowing down, but headed straight for the Western Great Thunderclap Monastery.
Yet, before the Sunlight Bodhisattva and the Moonlight Bodhisattva could reach the monastery, another figure wrapped in dense Buddha’s light appeared before them.
This person was none other than Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva.
Mahasthamaprapta had previously heard that Ancestor Buddha Tathagata had ordered the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas to deliver the Boundary-Breaking Pearl to Li Jing.
Indeed, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva also wanted to go, having suffered several defeats at the hands of Sun Wukong, and naturally wanted to see Sun Wukong face a setback.
However, involving too many from Buddhism in this matter would be problematic in explaining to the Daoist Sect.
Therefore, he had to stay within Buddhism and did not accompany the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas.
Now, seeing the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas return, he naturally wanted to inquire about the situation at Mount Huaguo.
Had the celestial Court side captured Sun Wukong?
“Amitabha Buddha, greetings to both Bodhisattvas.
I wonder what the current situation at Mount Huaguo is.
Has celestial King Li successfully captured Sun Wukong and taken him to the celestial Court?”
After greeting the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas with joined palms and reciting a Buddha’s name, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva then spoke.
The Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva, however, did not respond to Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva and continued their way to the Great Thunderclap Monastery.
Although Buddhism does not have many formalities, as followers of Ancestor Buddha Tathagata, they naturally would not defy him, and with such a significant event underway, they had to inform the Buddha Ancestor first.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, unaware of what had transpired, watched curiously as Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas hastened past.
“What’s going on?”
Could something have happened?
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva blinked and after pondering for a moment, decided to follow them and see what had indeed occurred!
It was understandable for the Moonlight Bodhisattva, but for the Sunlight Bodhisattva, with his character, such behavior seemed uncharacteristic!
After all, the Sunlight Bodhisattva was always steady and never this anxious, but his current demeanor was indeed puzzling.
Sometime later, they arrived at the Great Thunderclap Monastery.
It seemed Sakyamuni Tathagata had been waiting there for some time.
“My Lord Tathagata, I have seen at Mount Huaguo…”
The Moonlight Bodhisattva could not wait to speak.
However, Sakyamuni Tathagata simply waved his hand and said, “The matter of Mount Huaguo is already known to me; follow me!”
Although the Sunlight Bodhisattva and the Moonlight Bodhisattva had much to say, hearing Sakyamuni Tathagata speak thus, they naturally held their tongues.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, following behind the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas, was even more curious about what had occurred at Mount Huaguo that made Sakyamuni Tathagata take such a serious stance.
After all, Sakyamuni Tathagata was the ruler of the Buddha Land.
While caught up in his curiosity, Sakyamuni Tathagata had already walked out of the Great Thunderclap Monastery and was making his way toward the depths of the Posa Pure Land.
Mahasthamaprapta, Sunlight, and Moonlight followed Sakyamuni Tathagata deeper into the Pure Land.
As they advanced, more Shamis appeared indefinitely, Arhats stood to the sides, and the Eight-Petalled celestial Dragons encircled the sky.
Then, a cluster of Bodhi trees appeared in the distance.
Below the Bodhi trees sat two old monks, their eyes slightly narrowed, their expressions neither joyful nor sad.
Although they simply sat there quietly in the distance, they seemed to span through time, remarkably extraordinary.
This moment left the Moonlight, Sunlight, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattvas transfixed, even though they were deep within the Buddha Land and rarely saw the two World Honored Ones.
Sakyamuni Tathagata was much calmer, evidently having seen this sight countless times before.
“Tathagata pays respects to the two World Honored Ones!”
Sakyamuni Tathagata joined his hands respectfully and spoke.
“Sunlight pays respects to the two World Honored Ones!”
“Moonlight pays respects to the two World Honored Ones!”
“Mahasthamaprapta pays respects to the two World Honored Ones!”
Yes!
Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti, the two Saints, nodded upon hearing these words.
Following this, Zhunti spoke, “We are already aware of the purpose of your visit, and we have calculated the matter you spoke of, so there is no need to worry!”
Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva, who had hoped to finally get an explanation after meeting the two World Honored Ones, did not expect such a response.
“Indeed, this matter concerns the calculations of the Saints; there is no need for you to delve deeper.
If there is a need to expedite the Journey to the West in the future, I hope none of you will carry it along!”
Amitabha Buddha also slowly began to speak.
Hearing the words of the two Saints, they naturally did not dare to utter a word of dissent.
“We will heed the commands of the World Honored One!”
“Very well, you may go now!”
Upon hearing Tathagata and others unanimously speak, Zhunti nodded and waved his hand.
Sunlight Bodhisattva, Moonlight Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva all felt the space before them change, and in the next moment, the three reappeared outside the Great Thunderclap Monastery.
As for Tathagata, he did not come out with them.
Sakyamuni Tathagata, unlike them, was originally a person of the Daoist Sect, but after his reincarnation, he fully converted to Buddhism and even became the leader of Buddhism.
He is also the main proponent of the Journey to the West this time.
Seeing the means of the World Honored One, both Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva exchanged a bitter smile, pressed their palms together, and then respectfully bowed to the Great Thunderclap Monastery in front of them before each returned to their respective dojos.
Since the World Honored One did not disclose anything, there naturally must be a celestial secret involved.
And now that they were aware of the matter, there was no need for them to ask any further.
However, after Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva turned to leave,
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, who had always wanted to know what was happening, was startled.
What exactly happened?
It seemed that only he was oblivious to everything.
He had hoped to learn from Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva what exactly had happened, but ended up knowing nothing.
Deep in the Posa Pure Land, beneath the Bodhi tree,
Tathagata was already sitting in meditative posture before the two Saints.
“Honored Ones, what is the intent behind Saint Taiqing giving the treasure to Sun Wukong this time?
If it is unclear, I fear we might not be able to continue promoting the Journey to the West!”
After the three Bodhisattvas left, Sakyamuni Tathagata slowly began to speak.
“Rest assured about this matter.
We will inquire clearly.
The promotion of the Journey to the West must continue without slack!”
Zhunti spoke earnestly.
“With the World Honored One’s words, we too can be at ease.
This monk will now take his leave!”
Sakyamuni Tathagata nodded, his purpose was only to understand what exactly had happened, and since the two Saints had explained, he no longer needed to worry!
Following the departure of Sakyamuni Tathagata,
Zhunti and Amitabha Buddha exchanged glances and then slowly stood up.
In an instant, they soared into the Chaotic Starry Sky, forcibly propelling themselves at extreme speed, surrounded by Buddha’s light extending thousands of yards, displaying aspects of all living beings, compassion, and even that of evil spirits!
All beings are Mount Sumeru, all is emptiness.
The two, sitting cross-legged, advanced through the endless Chaotic Void.
Even though the Chaotic Void was boundlessly overwhelming, it still could not shake either figure in the slightest.
No one knew how long they had flown.
In the midst of the Chaotic Void, a dazzling stream of light flowed, and where their sight reached, a grand dojo appeared before them.
With celestial light dazzling and supremely sacred, the primordial Daoist chant was deafening.
Just as the two arrived at this dojo, a middle-aged man in a Mystical Robe arrived floating, and bowed from afar to the two of them.
“Xuandu is waiting here by the teacher’s command to receive the two venerable Saints!”
The Daoist before them was none other than Xuandu, the chief disciple of the Human Teachings Sect.
“Oh, thank you for your efforts!”
The two stood upon the golden lotus, and upon hearing this, they nodded slightly and then stepped forward, descending from the platform, their Buddha’s light dispersing.
Their old and enigmatic forms were revealed in monk’s robes.
The robes were antiquated, yet they contained boundless Daoist essence, which could provoke sudden enlightenment in those who gazed upon them.
After a slight nod from the two, they followed behind Master Xuandu, entering the Daoist Palace.
Upon nearing the grand Daoist Palace, they saw numerous Immortal Birds being fed by several Daoist Boys.
Seeing the two Saints approaching, the boys put down what they were holding and respectfully greeted, “Greetings to the great masters!”
Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti returned the greeting with considerable kindness.
Afterward, they noticed nearby the Nine-Dragon Agarwood Rake, the mount of Yuanshi Celestial Venerable.
A flicker of intrigue flashed through their eyes.
Master Xuandu, seemingly unaware, continued to lead the way, pushing open the temple doors.
A majestic, ancient hall appeared before Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti.
Inside the hall, two Daoists sat quietly, their faces obscure and hard to discern.
However, one could vaguely make out that these two figures were one elderly man and one middle-aged man.
Clearly, they were the two Saints of the Daoist Sect…
