Chapter 881 - 676 Human King
Chapter 881: 676 Human King
If the name is not correct, then the words will not be smooth.
But should he become the Human King, Jiang Chen would have ample reason to execute enemies like the Law Hall Master and others who bring trouble.
With great authority in hand and justice on his side as the Human King, he could rightfully carry out executions to eliminate trouble for his people. Only as the Human King would killing others be both justified and proper.
"You aspire to be the Human King, and I won’t try to dissuade you. In ancient times, Da Yu defied fate, knowing full well he would die, yet he still embarked on the path of the Human King.
"Even then, I knew that people like you are beyond persuasion. Your will is too strong, not to be shaken by the words of others."
"Those who aspire to the throne of the Human King must possess exceptional intelligence, strategy, and daring. You have chosen this path and are fully prepared, with unfounded confidence in yourself, believing you are invincible."
"How can someone like that be persuaded by others?"
The old predecessor of the Human Race shook his head, not advising Jiang Chen to give up on becoming the Human King. However, his eyes were filled with regret, as if Jiang Chen’s life was soon to end.
Clearly, he lacked confidence in Jiang Chen.
Yes, after the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, the path of the Human King was a dead end. Even the mighty Da Yu and the dazzling Ying Zheng fell on this path. Although Jiang Chen was equally dazzling, it was still hard for the old predecessor to see any chance of success in him.
Because Jiang Chen’s opponents were not human, but the lofty Heavenly Dao that controls everything.
Even saints can be defeated, but the Heavenly Dao cannot. In the Prehistoric World, Heavenly Dao is invincible!
"Predecessor, you must have confidence in me. Since I have chosen this path, I am fully prepared to ensure my success and prevent any mishap."
Jiang Chen laughed, not offended by the old man’s look of regret, which, contrary to what might be expected, actually gave him a bit of confidence in himself.
"Alas, Da Yu and Ying Zheng once said the same thing to me."
Upon hearing Jiang Chen’s words, the predecessor’s regret seemed to deepen, his gaze upon Jiang Chen resembling one who looks upon the dead.
In an instant, Jiang Chen no longer felt like talking, feeling that this predecessor was not good at chatting. He hadn’t even started on his path to being the Human King, yet this predecessor’s every other word seemed to curse him with death, utterly inappropriate!
Of course, Jiang Chen also knew that the predecessor spoke this way out of good intentions. He might say he would not dissuade him, but the underlying message of his words seemed to discourage Jiang Chen from becoming the Human King by bringing up the fates of Da Yu and Ying Zheng.
"Predecessor, let’s drop this topic. Time will prove everything."
Jiang Chen shook his head, not wishing to continue the conversation on this subject any longer. Just as he couldn’t be dissuaded all those years ago, the predecessor could not dissuade him now.
"Sigh, you’re determined, so I won’t say more," the predecessor sighed, recognizing that his words would not change Jiang Chen’s mind, feeling even more helpless.
What a pity for such a prodigy of the Human Race!
"Predecessor, I’ll soon make a move against the Beijulu Continent. Do you think there’s anything I should be aware of?"
Having the chance to meet such a senior, Jiang Chen naturally took the opportunity to inquire about the Demon Clan.
Ever since Beijulu Continent came into existence, it has been under the watchful eye of the masters of the Human Race. Although the Human Race may not be completely informed about the inner workings of the continent, aside from its core areas, there should be no secrets from the Human Race regarding Beijulu Continent.
"There’s nothing much to be wary of about the Demon Clan. The greatest resistance to suppressing the Demon Clan never comes from the outside, but from within the Human Race."
"If it were not for the aftermath of Ancient Times when the battle-oriented masters of the Human Race were all forced into seclusion, allowing the Hideaway Faction to become dominant, how could the Demon Clan have ever found a foothold in the Four Continents?"
The predecessor spoke with a hint of indignation, revealing to Jiang Chen that after Ancient Times, the Demon Clan posed no significant threat to the Human Race. If it were not out of respect for the deceased Di Jun Taiyi, the Demon Clan would have been eradicated by the Human Race long ago.
"These people, they truly deserve death!"
Upon learning that the Demon Clan’s rise was due to people like the Law Hall Master, Jiang Chen’s urge to kill grew even stronger.
Had it not been for the predecessor’s revelation, Jiang Chen would not have known that in the aftermath of the shattered lands of the Prehistoric World, when the Four Continents were formed, Beijulu Continent was not originally habitat for the Demon Clan, but for the Wilderness species.
With such deep-seated enmity between Humans and Demons, how could the Human Race allow the Demon Clan to occupy a whole continent? According to the Human Race’s original plan, the Demon Clan was to be driven to the barren lands, to live on the fringes of the Three Realms where Spiritual Energy was scarce.
Unfortunately, after Wu Ding’s revolt against heaven, the combat-focused Human Race faction lost power, and the Hideaway Faction rose to prominence. They abolished the previous strategies set by the combat faction, which inadvertently gave the Demon Clan the opportunity to occupy Beijulu Continent.
Luckily, although the combat faction lost power, its masters did not fall, and together with some scattered Human Race predecessors who did not partake in governance, they banded together to keep a firm watch over Beijulu Continent, thus containing the growth of the Demon Clan.
"Alas, the Hideaway Faction is powerful. I thought you too would succumb to their pressure and change your mind, abandoning the opportunity to attack the Demon Clan. I never imagined you’d be so resolute, driving those people away with a scolding," the predecessor mused, having come because he worried Jiang Chen would suffer at the hands of the Law Hall Master. Yet, to his surprise, Jiang Chen was more assertive than he had anticipated, and gave the Law Hall Master a harsh scolding.
