Chapter 784: June 18 Loyalty
The actions of the three demons did not surprise Jiang Chen. They were the Innate Dao Sovereigns, beings who were immortal and undying, and naturally wouldn’t fear what Jiang Chen could do to them.
Though it was a heinous crime to rear a private army, as long as the three demons surrendered all their troops, they could argue their way out of it. All they had to do was insist that these soldiers were being trained for the Emperor Lord, and Jiang Chen would be unable to do anything to them.
Killing them was even more impossible; the Innate Dao Sovereigns wouldn’t be easily killed.
Jiang Chen saw through the intentions of the three demons. From their behavior, he guessed that they had intended to turn over all the demon soldiers to absolve themselves of guilt.
This plan would cost them dearly, but it was enough to protect them. Although the three demons were unwilling, they knew that their survival was the paramount importance. If they lost their subordinates, they could cultivate more, but if they lost their lives, they would truly lose everything.
While the three demons had a solid plan, they hadn’t anticipated that Jiang Chen had no intention to punish them directly. These troops were perfect canon fodder, meant to die in battle against the Demon Clan, not to be killed by him.
"Death penalty, you deserve to die!"
"The Emperor Lord entrusted the Gouchen Star to you, because he trusted and valued you. But how did you repay this trust? You raised soldiers and treated Gouchen Star as your personal fiefdom, building up your own power. You even indulged the demon race’s evil deeds."
"Your crimes are not only deserving of death, you should be hacked into pieces and made to endure the unending torment at the Immortal-slaying Platform for thousands of years."
Jiang Chen pointed at the three demons and scolded them loudly.
"We are guilty!"
The three demons did not refute, and after Jiang Chen vented his anger, they once again admitted their guilt.
"Tell me, how should I punish you?" Jiang Chen asked, holding the Emperor Lord’s decree and coldly speaking to the three demons.
Boom!
Traces of the Emperor Lord’s aura expanded, making the void tremble, and ten thousand ways all produced submissive roars, echoing between Heaven and Earth.
An unprecedented pressure descended.
Despite being at the complete stage of being Dao Sovereigns, the three demons still felt insignificant under the Emperor Lord’s oppression, like ants that could be crushed anytime.
"Your Highness misunderstood. We trained these demon soldiers not for ourselves, but for the Emperor Lord. Nowadays, in the Three Realms, demons run rampant, disobeying the imperial decree, causing constant turmoil in the mortal world."
"We see and worry, but there is nothing we can do. The Gouchen Palace, despite being ancient, doesn’t have many experts and isn’t enough to suppress the underworld demons."
"Hence, we carefully sent people to the underworld to find some seeds, brought them back to train in Gouchen Palace, waiting for them to develop, and then sent them to suppress the demons in the underworld."
"As for why we didn’t inform your Highness about this matter, it’s because this matter is secretive and should not be spoken lightly, to avoid sensing by the underworld demons and causing more changes."
Feeling the terrifying manifestation of the Emperor Lord’s decree, Tianyao was spiritually shaking and quickly explained profusely.
"Oh?"
Jiang Chen was somewhat surprised. He didn’t expect Tianyao to give such an explanation. Although there were many flaws in his words which wouldn’t withstand scrutiny, it was indeed consistent with Jiang Chen’s intentions.
Jiang Chen was considering how to deploy these demons to the underworld to sweep away the underworld demons and towards Beijulu Continent, and Tianyao had thought up and proactively delivered the excuses.
"Are you saying that you’ve trained these demon soldiers to suppress the underworld demons?" Looking at the three demons, Jiang Chen seemed to believe their explanation and asked uncertainly.
"Yes, your Highness, it is truly so. The Emperor Lord has granted life-saving grace to us three demons. In ancient times, without the timely aid of the Emperor Lord, we would have died at the hands of the demon gods. We cherish this great kindness and will never forget it, how could we betray the Emperor Lord?"
"For the Emperor Lord, we are willing to die. Our hearts illuminate like the sun and the moon. All that we do today is to uphold the dignity of the Emperor Lord, so that those underworld demons know that the Emperor Lord’s might is inviolable."
In front of Jiang Chen, the three demons loudly expressed their loyalty to the Emperor Lord. That attitude, only falling short of making an oath on the spot and swearing to the heavens.
"Hee hee!"
"Life-saving grace, hearts like the sun and the moon, willing to die for the Emperor Lord, you are really the Emperor Lord’s good loyalists."
With a cold laugh, Jiang Chen neither affirmed nor denied the three demons’ words. If the three demons were indeed as loyal as they claimed, they should be swearing to Heaven now to prove their innocence, instead of jabbering without any serious gesture.
However, this didn’t matter to the Jiang Chen. What he cared about was the attitude of the three demons, the willingness to die for the Emperor Lord.
With their words, the plan for the next step was much simpler.
"Good!"
"The three of you are truly worthy of the Emperor Lord’s trust, such loyalty is truly touching."
Looking at the three demons, Jiang Chen suddenly shouted a word of praise, put away the Emperor Lord’s decree, took a few steps forward to the three demons, and helped them up with a face full of smiles.
"I still trust the three of you. Looking at the cultivation level of these demon soldiers, I can also see that the three of you have indeed put in efforts."
"Thousands of Great Luo Golden Immortals, a dozen Innate Dao Monarchs, such a force is indeed not to be underestimated. If it is deployed, the reputation of Gouchen Palace would surely rise again."
Jiang Chen’s sudden change in attitude left the three demons somewhat puzzled. One moment he was shouting and cursing, the next he was full of smiles and friendly. The sudden contrast was disconcerting to the three demons.
