Chapter 579: Four Seven Six, the Great Wish of Hongmeng

"Summoning, go quickly to the west to invite the Buddha to suppress the evil monkey." Seeing that the gods couldn’t withstand the power of Wukong, the Jade Emperor stood up abruptly and shouted to Taibai Jinxing near him.

The so-called "western Buddha" refers to the Buddha Tathagata.

Below the Four Sovereigns, there are five Emperors and five Elders. And the Tathagata is the Buddha of the West, Guan Yin, who is in the South Sea, is the Southern Elder.

The five Emperors and the five Elders are on the same level, and the rank of Jiang Chen’s Emperor Jiuchen of the Nine Heavens is also this level of deity. It’s considered the pinnacle amongst the gods of the Heavenly Court. One more step, and it would be the Heaven and Earth Supremacy which governs Heaven and Earth.

As soon as Taibai Jinxing heard this, he immediately stood up, respectfully responding, "Your humble servant obeys."

After he said that, Taibai Jinxing transformed into a beam of white light and, with an unimaginable speed, dashed towards the Xiniuhe Continent.

As the Jade Emperor’s confidant, Taibai Jinxing naturally knew about the Jade Emperor’s transactions with the Buddhist door. Therefore, he knew that he couldn’t delay this matter, but he didn’t lazily travel like he used to, he was rushing at full speed.

In an instant, he had traversed across billions of miles of void.

However, before Taibai Jinxing could reach the Spiritual Mountain, he ran into the Buddha Tathagata who was hurrying towards the Heavenly Court.

Upon seeing the Buddha, Taibai Jinxing was greatly surprised, and hurriedly inquired, "Buddha, are you injured?"

Although Tathagata had suppressed his injury, he could only deceive low-level cultivators like the Innate Dao Sovereign and the Great Luo Golden Immortals.

Once an Innate Dao Sovereign saw him, they would be able to perceive his weak spirit and vitality, naturally realizing that he had been injured.

Tathagata shook his head without answering Taibai Jinxing’s question. Instead, he asked, "Jinxing, how is the situation in the Heavenly Court?"

Seeing Tathagata silent, Taibai Jinxing naturally guessed that the Supreme Buddha had suffered a great deal at the hands of the Emperor of Mankind, hence his silence.

Knowing that he was not a match for the Buddha, Taibai Jinxing had no intention of pointing out others’ shortcomings and simply replied, "You have come at the right time, Buddha. The Jade Emperor was just about to send me to the Spiritual Mountain to invite you to assist the Heavenly Court in suppressing the demon monkey."

"Unexpectedly, I met you halfway here, which saves us quite a bit of time."

Even though it was the Jade Emperor’s doing, Taibai Jinxing was not comfortable discussing it openly with Buddha, as it could damage the Jade Emperor’s image. Moreover, Taibai believed the Buddha would understand his intention without being told.

As expected, when Tathagata heard Taibai Jinxing’s words, he immediately understood that the Jade Emperor had already set up the stage and was waiting for him to play his part.

Nodding his head, Tathagata said urgently, "Since the Jade Emperor has invited, we must not delay this matter. We should get going right away."

Without waiting for Taibai Jinxing to respond, Tathagata had already taken the lead and rushed towards the Heavenly Court.

Seeing this, Taibai Jinxing eased his rush and flew slowly towards the Heavenly Court while sighing, "This time, the loss of Buddhism may be great. Otherwise, even if the Buddha takes the West Journey to heart, he shouldn’t be so eager."

"This time, the Human Race has truly shown their strength, allowing the beings in the Three Realms to once again witness the power of the Human Race."

"Buddhism, the number one religion in the Three Realms, was directly challenged by the Human Race. They demolished the Great Thunderclap Temple, the holy ground of Buddhism, into fragments and dared to walk away."

"With such a power, how many forces in the Three Realms can be compared with it? Even Buddhism is not spared; needless to mention the other forces."

"People normally kill chickens to frighten monkeys. Yet, the Human Race is doing the opposite: they are killing monkeys to frighten chickens."

"After this event, the prestige of the Human Race is at its peak or nearly so. For a short time, many forces within the Three Realms will likely not dare to provoke the Human Race."

"This move of killing monkeys to scare chickens by the Human Race is truly brilliant!"

...

Just as Taibai Jinxing said, the Human Race’s move against Buddhism, besides venting for Empress Nuwa, was also to use Buddhism to establish their authority.

Buddism is the number one religion in the Three Realms. Only by striking a hard blow to the pride of Buddhism could the doctrine of intimidation against all races be effective.

To put it bluntly, the Human Race is flexing its muscles, letting all living beings in the Three Realms reacknowledge the strength of the Human Race.

...

...

Even before his arrival, the Buddha’s voice was already heard from afar:

"The humble monk was late in his protect. Please forgive me!"

When the words of Buddha were heard, all the immortals knew instantly that Buddha Tathagata had arrived and showed an expression of joy. With Buddha’s presence, no matter how rampant the demon monkey becomes, it won’t escape suppression.

Unlike the delighted expressions of others, Jiang Chen’s expression became grim upon hearing Buddha’s voice. His face looked extremely unsightly.

He was about to be victorious in suppressing Sun Wukong, but at this moment, Tathagata rushed here. Wasn’t that clearly emulating stealing peaches, taking credit from others!

Moreover, even after Emperor Jiuchen had fought fiercely for a long time, he couldn’t capture the demon monkey. However, once Buddha arrived, the demon monkey was suppressed with only one hand.

Those who knew would realize this was just a show performed by the Jade Emperor and Buddha. Those who didn’t would say that Emperor Jiuchen was truly useless, not even comparable to a single hand of Tathagata Buddha.

Although, indeed, the fact was more or less the same and Jiang Chen wasn’t even comparable to Tathagata’s single hand. However, it’s fine if he knew it himself, there was no need to make it known to everyone.

Moreover, Jiang Chen didn’t want to be a backdrop to the Buddha or become the prop that helped him gain prestige.

Not to mention that he was ordered by Empress Nuwa, and so Jiang Chen would never let the Buddha approach Sun Wukong.
