Chapter 570: 471 Dismantled the Great Thunderclap Temple_2
Does Buddhism have seventy-two Innate Dao Sovereigns?
The answer is no. They have over seven hundred Great Luo Golden Immortals, but not seventy-two Innate Dao Sovereigns.
However, Buddhism does boast an impressive number of Quasi-Saints. Simply put, the Buddha himself can compete with seventy-two Innate Dao Sovereigns without succumbing to defeat.
But what does it matter?
Does the Human Race not have Quasi-Saints and Great Divine Transcendents? If it came down to real combat, without the intervention of saints, Buddhism is sure to fall to the Human Race!
...
While Buddhism waited patiently, the Human Race was losing its patience.
After an unknown period of silence, an extraordinarily ancient Innate Dao Sovereign from among the many Dao Sovereigns of the Human Race spoke:
"Buddhism respects not the Empress Nuwa, hence, the Human Race is driven by the Heavenly Dao to subjugate Buddhism and restore the righteous path."
As he spoke, the seventy-two Dao Sovereigns of the Human Race moved, simultaneously unleashing their Divine Abilities towards the Spiritual Mountain.
Their Divine Abilities were truly unusual, unlike ordinary abilities, each was permeated with countless variations, giving birth to a power that transcended limits.
Witnessing this spectacle, a dreadful premonition stirred within the hearts of the multitude of Buddhists as their brows furrowed deeply.
Does the Human Race truly intend to obliterate Buddhism?
The Buddhists recognized the origins of these peculiar Divine Abilities - they were the supreme abilities of Ancient Martial Arts, pushing the limits of Divine Abilities to their extreme.
It is commonly said that Divine Abilities cannot defy Heavenly providence. However, the Human Race sought a different path, striving to challenge heavenly providence with Divine Ability.
This was embodied to its fullest in the practitioners of Ancient Martial Arts, rendering each of their Divine Abilities extraordinarily powerful.
The individuals who could train these abilities to such a high realm were all practitioners of Ancient Martial Arts – the Innate Dao Sovereigns who were attacking the Spiritual Mountain were the Guardians of the Human Race of the Ancient Martial Art lineage.
These ancient martial artists, each possessing extraordinary combat power that far outstripped their peers, were the backbone of the Human Race.
The Human Race had deployed seventy-two ancient martial artists in their siege on the Spiritual Mountain – this was nothing short of a mobilization of all their resources.
With the Human Race making such a grand move, how could the Buddhists not be alarmed?
Had they not recognized that these ancient martial artists had achieved enlightenment in the distant past, rather than the ancient era, they might have believed that the Human Race truly intended to eliminate Buddhism.
The Dao Sovereigns from the ancient era were the oldest, as well as the last and strongest line of defense for the Human Race. The moment they moved into action signified the unyielding determination of the Human Race.
...
The Spiritual Mountain, being the foundation of Buddhism, must not fall to the hands of ancient martial artists. With this in mind, the Buddha made his move.
Boom!
Above the Spiritual Mountain, a brilliant Buddhist light exploded, forming a giant dome of light that enveloped the entire mountain. Concurrently, a vast Ninth-grade Golden Lotus manifested above the mountain, showering an endless stream of golden light of merit.
Boom, boom, boom!
The seventy-two ancient Divine Abilities struck against the Golden Light of Merit, immediately shattering it. Yet, as quickly as the light dispersed, it regenerated, entangling with the martial Divine Abilities.
In this manner, amidst the constant cycle of dispersion and regeneration, the seventy-two Divine Abilities were gradually extinguished.
This Ninth-grade Golden Lotus was the supreme treasure of Buddhism, one of the four Great Lotus Platforms from the Prehistoric World – a top-tier Innate Merit’s Spiritual Treasure.
However, during the Investiture of the Gods, this treasure faced a calamity when the Mosquito Daoist bit into it, consuming three of its petals. Its rank plummeted from twelve to nine, dropping from high-grade to upper-grade.
Despite this, the Ninth-grade Golden Lotus remained immensely powerful, its might not inferior to the highest order of Innate Spiritual Treasures. Otherwise, it would not have been able to withstand the joint strike from seventy-two Innate Dao Sovereigns.
"Try again. Combine your powers to shatter this shell."
"The Empress Nuwa decreed: We will not withdraw until the Great Thunderclap Temple is utterly obliterated."
One of the ancient martial artists declared. He intended to join forces with others to drive back the Ninth-grade Golden Lotus.
Are they planning to level the Great Thunderclap Temple to the ground?
Hearing this, blue veins popped on the Buddha’s forehead as he struggled to suppress his rage.
Unsurprisingly, any warm-blooded person would find it difficult to endure such humiliation – someone threatening to raze their home to the ground in their presence. It was surprising enough that he hadn’t publicly murdered the perpetrator.
Particularly in the Prehistoric World, where face mattered greatly. By saying such things, it was no longer a loss of face, they were trampling his dignity into the ground, finding filthy pleasure in it, and even spitting on it for good measure.
"Seeking death!"
Finally, the Buddha couldn’t resist anymore. Limitless Buddhist light surged from his body, forming a golden hand that reached out to grasp the reckless ancient martial artist.
At the same time, he shouted, "My disciples, join forces, recite the Buddhist scripture, and activate our Buddhism Great Formation to resist the powerful enemy."
Upon hearing this, the multitude of Buddhists in the temple - Buddha, the Bodhisattvas, the Arhats, the venerables – promptly bowed their heads, silently reciting the Buddhist scripture.
While their voices were soft, the combined voices created a sonorous and profound resonance, carrying an inexplicable charm.
Mystical Buddhist characters emerged from the void, gathering to form a giant "Swastika" marking that sheltered the entire Spiritual Mountain.
At this point, the hand formed from Buddhist light, vast as to obscure the sun, descended to suppress the ancient martial artist.
