Chapter 381: Three Six Six Great Xia Dynasty
Chapter 381: Three Six Six Great Xia Dynasty
On the road, Jiang Chen suddenly found himself faced with a fierce demonic wind that darkened the sky and blocked out the sun and the moon. He stopped in his tracks and looked ahead.
Above, black clouds were swirling in the sky with a band of yellow gas intermixed in the middle. He saw it clearly; it was a demon.
Yellow cloak, black tight attire, wearing tiger skin boots, his face exuded an air of brutality. He was carrying a young woman of some beauty, dressed in extravagant clothing likely a member of a wealthy family, who had fainted into unconsciousness, showing no signs of movement.
The demon had a handsome face, with a restrained primordial spirit, and what radiated from it was not demon aura but a domineering dragon aura.
Jiang Chen observed with his Divine Eye and found that this demon was a poisonous dragon and one of the Heavenly and Earthly Species.
Poisonous dragons are rarely born naturally and most of them evolve. Since ancient times, the ancestral dragon carved the Dragon Dao into the Heaven and Earth, enabling all creatures the potential to transform into dragons.
For instance, poisonous insects like centipedes and scorpions, if lucky enough to follow the Dragon Dao, and whose toxins did not dissipate, can metamorphose into poisonous dragons.
Seeing this hurry, with an evil aura scrawled all over his face, holding an unconscious young woman in his hand. His intentions were obvious.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Chen became displeased and shouted angrily, "You audacious beast!"
The seven characters, imbued with the powerful authority of the Dao, pressed down on the poisonous dragon word by word.
In an instant, the poisonous dragon felt the void around him condensing, getting incredibly heavy as if he were bearing mountains, unable to move.
"Roar~~~"
A sorrowful dragon roar was heard, and the poisonous dragon involuntarily transformed into his true form of a dark true dragon entwined with a ghastly green poisonous gas.
Suddenly, the body of the poisonous dragon began to shrink at a visible speed, and soon it was only a foot long, captured in Jiang Chen’s hands.
The Yun Ting divine general reached out his hand and sent a magical power that turned into a gentle wind, rescuing the woman from the poisonous dragon’s grasp.
After thoroughly examining the woman, the Yun Ting divine general said to Jiang Chen, "My Lord, this woman is no ordinary person. She has attained the Immortal Dao and possesses the cultivation of a celestial being."
Jiang Chen nodded and said, "Wake her up and ask her about her origins and why she was captured by this poisonous dragon."
What piqued Jiang Chen’s interest in this woman was not her beauty, but the fact that she was from the Human Race. He had been in the Little Cang Mountain range for a while now but this was the first time he had encountered a human, which naturally aroused his curiosity.
The Yun Ting divine general was not the sort to treat the fairer sex with kid gloves, following Jiang Chen’s orders, he used his magical powers to break the restriction the poisonous dragon had placed on the woman, thereby awakening her.
When the woman regained consciousness, she first wore a look of fear, but soon realized that something was amiss and gradually regained her composure. Then, she saw that the poisonous dragon that had captured her, was being casually toyed around in Jiang Chen’s hands.
Her pupils contracted slightly. Sensing that she had been rescued, she quickly stepped forward, respectfully bowing to Jiang Chen and said, "Qing Han of Qingluan Ancient Country, thanks the elder for saving my life."
The poisonous dragon that had captured her had the cultivation of a Taiyi Golden Immortal, yet it was being casually played with by this person. His strength was no less than that of a Great Luo Golden Immortal.
Therefore, even though Jiang Chen appeared young, Qing Han still respectfully called him elder.
"Qingluan Ancient Country?"
"I’ve never heard of it."
Muttering to himself in his heart, Jiang Chen asked Qing Han, "You are from the Human Race? Why are you in the Little Cang Mountain range, and how did you get caught by this poisonous dragon?"
Qing Han didn’t dare to hide anything, knowing all too well that with her power, she wouldn’t be able to lie in front of a Great Luo Golden Immortal. So, she candidly replied, "I am indeed from the Human Race and the princess of Qingluan Ancient Country. I came to Little Cang Mountain range because of the recent turmoil here."
"About three or four years ago, a rainbow light exploded from the Little Cang Mountain range, giving rise to suspicions of a major treasure appearing."
"At that time, a nobleman from the Great Xia, who was a guest at Qingluan Ancient Country, charged into Little Cang Mountain range after seeing the sight, and has not been seen since."
The following events were straightforward, as the noble Xiahou family, a part of the Great Xia, had a martial artist mysteriously die, necessitating an explanation. During their investigation, they traced back to the Qingluan Ancient Country.
Subsequently, the Xiahou family demanded an explanation from Qingluan Ancient Country. As Qingluan Ancient Country was a small country without many powerful martial artists, and even less able to oppose the Xiahou family, they had to send someone to the Little Cang Mountain range to investigate the death causes of the Xiahou family’s martial artist.
Princess Qing Han was one of those sent.
"Great Xia, huh?"
After hearing Qing Han’s words, Jiang Chen didn’t immediately respond but instead fell into deep thought.
He didn’t know about Qingluan Ancient Country, but he did know about the Xia Dynasty.
That dynasty was the continuation of the Human Race’s Great Xia. During ancient times, Tang Wu usurped the throne, claiming the throne rightfully due to his divine mandate. This led to the overthrow of the Xia Dynasty, resulting in the establishment of the Shang Dynasty.
However, when the Xia Dynasty fell, the descendants of the Xia line survived. After all, they were the descendants of King Yu and the Xuanyuan lineage, how could they be completely eradicated?
Therefore, only the Xia royal family, specifically the line of King Xia, was killed, and the rest were relocated to the Human Race Ancestral Land.
Later, the Zhou Dynasty rose to power, and King Wu overthrew the Shang Dynasty, establishing the Zhou Dynasty. At the same time, the prehistoric continent fragmented once again into four main continents.
It was also during this time that a Human Race expert, following the Heavenly Dao and comprehending the celestial secrets, commanded the Xiahou family to return to power, establishing the Xia Dynasty in Dongsheng Divine Continent. This was to consolidate the Human Race in the region and compete for Fate against the Immortal Dao.
This was the origin of the Xia Dynasty, which is also the most significant force of the Human Race in the Dongsheng Divine Continent.
However, the vast Dongsheng Divine Continent was teeming with the numerous factions of the Human Race, and not everyone was satisfied with the arrangement made by the higher-ups.
Why should the Xiahou family be allowed to establish a nation and rule supreme while I can’t?
Am I really that inferior?
There were many people with this kind of mindset and thus, apart from the various families and sects, there were many other nations in Dongsheng Divine Continent as if it was a part of the world unto itself.
In one word, chaos!
The chaos was not only in the Immortal Dao, it was also in the Human Race!
...
Snapping out of his thoughts, Jiang Chen asked Qing Han, "Is the name Xiahou from one of the Great Xia’s 72 families?"
Qing Han replied, "Yes, that expert was one of the ancestors of the Xiahou Family. Because of his death, the Xiahou Family was absolutely furious. They ordered us to hunt down the murderer and even sent a prince to personally investigate the matter."
Under the rule of Great Xia, there was only one king, and his clan was known as the Great Xia King’s Clan. There are nine royal families, known as the Great Xia’s nine royal families. There is nobility numbering 72, known as Great Xia’s 72 noble families.
These were the key forces that formed the elite nobles of Great Xia.
The name Xiahou has ’Xia’ in it, so it probably has something to do with the royal family. The Qingluan Ancient Kingdom, a nation Jiang Chen had not heard of, couldn’t be very strong if it offended the Xiahou Family. They’d surely be in a difficult situation.
The Qingluan Ancient Kingdom was indeed unlucky. The person from the Xiahou Family died near Little Cang Mountain Range, which has nothing to do with them, and it wasn’t their doing.
However, this world doesn’t always conform to reason. Since the man died near their territory, it has to do with the Qingluan Ancient Kingdom.
Although Jiang Chen sympathized with the predicament of the Qingluan Ancient Kingdom, he had no intention of standing up for them. He had no ties to the Qingluan Ancient Kingdom and had no need to antagonize the Great Xia Dynasty for them.
Bringing the conversation back to the original topic, Jiang Chen asked, "You still haven’t said why you came here. The Little Cang Mountain Range is very dangerous. As a princess of the Qingluan Ancient Kingdom, why did you personally venture into such risk?"
Seeing that Jiang Chen changed the subject, Qing Han knew he did not want to get involved in this matter. She was a little disappointed but answered honestly, "A while ago, something happened in the depth of the Little Cang Mountain Range that caused the monsters within the mountain to migrate frequently, as if they were fleeing for their lives."
"My father suspected a conspiracy and sent people here to investigate. I had nothing to do in the palace, so I followed along to gain some experience. I didn’t expect to run into that poisonous dragon and get captured by it."
Jiang Chen could tell that Qing Han wasn’t lying, but she was definitely hiding something. For example, the real reason why she came here. Besides, when she talked about being captured by the poisonous dragon, there was fear in her eyes, but not much worry.
Clearly, she was confident. Perhaps she carried a valuable treasure and was not afraid of the poisonous dragon harming her.
However, all these had nothing to do with Jiang Chen. They had only just met. By saving her life, he was already doing her a favor. There was no reason for him to help her deal with this family trouble.
They weren’t even acquaintances.
Nodding, Jiang Chen was about to ask someone to send Qing Han back to the Qingluan Ancient Kingdom. But suddenly, he felt that something wasn’t right.
Three to four years ago, the striking light was seen in the Little Cang Mountain Range when a prominent individual went into the mountain range and never returned. These events seemed oddly familiar, as if he had lived through them himself.
Wait a minute...
That’s it! It was familiar! Wasn’t it the setup he planned personally? Could it be that the high-level figure from the Xiahou family was one of the big fishes he caught?
Looking back, there was a martial artist among those Great Luo Golden Immortals.
What was his name again?
It looked like he didn’t ask, nor did the other party mention it.
Could it be that this Martial Dao Daluo was the high figure of the Xiahou family?
Thinking of this, Jiang Chen suddenly asked Qing Han, "Was that high-ranking figure from the Xiahou Family a martial artist? No, do you have his portrait? Bring it out and let me see it."
Hearing that, Qing Han quickly nodded, "Yes, I have his portrait. I saw him once when he was a guest at the palace."
While speaking, Qing Han used her magic to create an image of a man. As soon as Jiang Chen saw it, he immediately recognized him as the Martial Dao Daluo whom he had killed.
Well, after all the fuss, it turns out that the expert from the Xiahou family was killed by him. So, the trouble of Qingluan Ancient Kingdom was actually caused by him.
In that case, Jiang Chen could not ignore this matter any more.
Thinking of this, Jiang Chen glanced at Qing Han and said in a deep voice, "You don’t have to investigate this matter anymore. I am the one who killed him."
"What?"
Qing Han looked bewildered, seemingly not understanding what Jiang Chen was saying.
With no other choice, Jiang Chen had to repeat,
"I said, I’m the one who killed the expert from the Xiahou Family. You can stop investigating."
