Chapter 1114: 793 Pangu Axe Fragments
Xing Tian Temple!
Jiang Chen had arrived at the divine palace exactly where Xing Tian resided in the Netherworld, Xing Tian Temple.
Every temple of the Witch Clan shares a characteristic: it’s exceedingly simple and rugged, as if it were merely several huge stones piled up at random.
That’s just the nature of the Witch Clan. They are not necessarily unintelligent, but they prefer to use their hands rather than their brains. They could fight if asked, but constructing a refined and luxurious temple was clearly out of the question for them.
Moreover, for the Witch Clan, even the most gorgeous and delicate buildings were less preferable than having the ground as their bed and the sky as their blanket.
As descendants of Pangu, the Witch Clan believed that living directly between Heaven and Earth was akin to being cradled in the arms of Pangu Great God. Hence, any buildings were viewed as obstacles that prevented them from getting closer to Pangu Great God.
Therefore, unless it was for the purpose of discussion, the Witch Clan would not construct any temples. To them, it was better to simply sleep on the ground and cover themselves with the sky—it was like constantly living in the arms of Pangu Great God.
To the Witch Clan, temples were places for discussion, not for dwelling.
Once this was understood, one could see their approach to building temples: they would do it perfunctorily, as long as it was stable enough to dwell within.
In the entire Witch Clan, there was only one temple that could be called intricate and perfect, and it wasn’t even built by the Witch Clan but formed from the skull of Pangu Great God—Pangu Palace.
...
"Xing Tian really holds a high position within the Witch Clan to have a temple exclusively for himself,"
Looking at the temple before him, Jiang Chen gained a new understanding of Xing Tian’s status within the Witch Clan. Though he did not have the title of an Ancestral Witch, he certainly possessed the reality of one. All the power and glory that an Ancestral Witch should have, Xing Tian had it all.
In the Witch Clan, apart from Pangu Great God, only the Twelve Ancestral Witches had their own temples to signify their special status. The fact that Xing Tian also had his own temple spoke volumes.
Xing Tian was almost certainly the successor chosen by the Ancestral Witches as the next leader of the Witch Clan; once they had all perished, the heavy responsibility of the clan would fall onto Xing Tian.
However, this was of no concern to Jiang Chen; he was here today to fulfill a transaction with Xing Tian.
Inside Changyang Mountain, Xing Tian had asked for Jiang Chen’s help to clear the mountain of its Sha Qi, promising in exchange to give him all the Pangu Axe fragments he had collected over the years.
According to Xing Tian, before he was sealed in Changyang Mountain, he had placed the Pangu Axe fragments—collected painstakingly over millions of years and using countless favors—in Xing Tian Temple in the Netherworld.
Xing Tian Temple, located in the deepest part of the Netherworld, not far from Mother Earth’s Reincarnation Palace, was the heartland of the Witch Clan, completely inaccessible to outsiders. As for their own people, without Xing Tian’s permission, who would dare to enter Xing Tian Temple?
Thus, keeping the Pangu Axe fragments in Xing Tian Temple was very secure, and there was no need to worry about them being stolen.
And today, Jiang Chen came to Xing Tian Temple to retrieve the Pangu Axe fragments that rightfully belonged to him.
Thud! Thud! Thud...
As he approached the entrance of Xing Tian Temple, Jiang Chen looked up and saw the doors tightly shut, sealed with numerous mysterious and ancient runes.
At a glance, Jiang Chen recognized that this was a tremendously powerful sealing technique unique to the Witch Clan, containing an essence of Pangu’s heritage. Unless one knew the method to break it, they could only forcibly shatter it with overwhelming power.
The heritage of the Witch Clan was an entity unto itself, completely distinct from the Demonic Way, Immortal Dao, Martial Dao, Buddhism Dao, etc., and was regarded as the most ancient Body Refining Method, referred to by people as the Demon God’s Way. This ’Demon God’ did not refer to the Innate Demon Gods but rather the Chaos Demigods!
Though the Witch Clan claimed that their heritage was summarized by the Twelve Ancestral Witches from their respective Pangu Marks, the top beings of the Prehistoric World knew this to be false; the Witch Clan’s heritage was not self-summarized by the Twelve Ancestral Witches, but discovered within Pangu Palace.
Appearing alongside the Witch Clan heritage were the God-killing Array and the method to refine the Duotian Shenfan.
After verification by several of the supreme beings between Heaven and Earth, it was essentially confirmed that the Witch Clan’s heritage did not belong to the "Law" of the Prehistoric World but to the "Law" of Chaos, following the path of the Chaos Demigod.
However, the most original Witch Clan heritage was too profound and demanding in its cultivation requirements. Apart from the Twelve Ancestral Witches and the Innate Great Witches, other members of the Witch Clan simply could not master it. Necessitated by the circumstances, the Ancestral Witches simplified the method of cultivation, thus allowing all clan members to practice it.
Nevertheless, the Witch Clan’s heritage as the orthodox Chaos Demigod Body Refining Method was true; even though simplified, it still bore a semblance of the Demon God’s Way, markedly different from other paths of Heaven and Earth. This led to the situation where there were hardly any methods to decipher the Witch Clan’s techniques, requiring nothing less than absolute power to forcibly break through.
The Chaos Demigod’s Way was among the inheritances closest to the essence of the Great Dao, practically without any weaknesses. Therefore, to break through this kind of inheritance, there were only two methods: one was to surpass the opponent in understanding of the "Great Dao" and overpower them through more advanced Dao cultivation. The other was to exceed the opponent in strength and overpower them through sheer force.
Beyond these, there was no other way.
The other Great Witches were manageable as they practiced the simplified version of the Demon God heritage. However, the Great Witch Xing Tian, standing as the foremost witch under the Ancestral Witches, certainly received the most original version of the Demon God heritage.
