Chapter 71: I feel... funny

Chapter 71: I feel... funny

Upon arriving at the hotel, Chris realized that there was another bigger issue to handle. And that was how he would be able to get the two drunk people who had fallen asleep into their respective rooms since he could not manage them both on his own and it would be impossible to get them to walk in.

It was only now that Chris realized he had simply pulled them out of the place and hadn’t been concerned about checking if they had all their belongings. Well, he didn’t need to do any checking since Wilson was only still wearing his briefs.

He was fortunate to find three staff members outside, and the only girl among them happened to be one of the girls he had the ugly encounter with the other time. He didn’t need to introduce himself since it was obvious from the attention they gave him that they already knew who he was.

So when he asked for their help to aid Wilson to his room, they readily complied while he carried Rachel in his arms, who was thankfully light as they all headed towards their respective rooms.

Rachel’s room was right across Wilson’s, so they arrived on the same floor, and the staff used their master cards to open both rooms before they went in to drop off the occupants.

It was only after they were safe in the confines of their hotel rooms that Chris felt relieved. But the anger he still felt for Wilson made him unwilling to share a room with him. Chris decided that he needed some space from Wilson to process everything that had happened, so he approached the hotel front desk and requested a different room. However, he chose to stay on the same floor as them so he could easily check up on them later.

He wished he was a bad friend. These people had stressed the hell out of him.

Once settled in his new room, Chris decided to take a quick, warm shower to clear his mind. As the warm water cascaded over him, he tried to push away every thought about what had happened today. Both from Rain, Sky, Wilson, and the asshole, Ash. However, just as he stepped out of the shower in a bathrobe, he found the light of his phone on, and when he picked up the phone from his bed, he noticed he had a missed call from... Sky.

He wasn’t seeing things. He actually had a missed call from Sky!

The guts this guy had to call him after what happened earlier.

Not only had he blown him off like he was nothing with that nasty glare, he had tried to stop him from punching that asshole yet he had the guts to call him now?

He was about to throw his phone down on the bed, but he hesitated and furrowed his brows.

Sky wouldn’t just call him out of the blue.

Chris hesitated for a moment, torn between his anger towards Sky and his concern. Finally, he took a deep breath and decided to call Sky back, hoping he had a very good reason for this call; otherwise, he was going to snap.

As the call connected, Chris could immediately tell from Sky’s slurred speech that he was heavily intoxicated. "Oh... it went through," Sky said quietly.

Chris’s frown deepened, wondering if this was a drunken call, but before he could angrily end the call, he heard Sky’s trembling voice say, "I... think I’m... in trouble."

He sounded a little frightened and disoriented, which was strange.

"Are you okay?" Chris asked, his concern mounting.

"I... d-don’t know... I feel... funny." Sky stuttered quietly. For some reason, he was whispering.

"Feel funny? Where are you?" Chris asked at once, alarmed.

"I... found a flowery garden." Sky let out a laugh. "It’s fucking pretty. It has so many flowers."

Okay. He didn’t sound okay. "Where are your friends?" Chris asked at once.

He heard a long moan escape Sky’s lips. It sounded like he was in discomfort, and then he muttered some intelligible words that Chris could not make sense of.

"SKY!" Chris snapped in worry. "WHERE ARE YOUR FRIENDS?"

"Chris? I think... I was... drugged— fuck! I feel horrible... and good... and bad."

Chris’s eyes widened, panic fully setting in.

"Who is there with you?" He asked in an urgent tone.

"Me? I’m... here. The ground... is moving." Sky chuckled again.

This was bad.

He wanted to end the call and call Henry to tell him to check up on his friend, but he was worried about not being able to reach Sky again. Maybe he hadn’t even been reachable in the first place, which was why Sky called him instead.

Panicking, Chris assured Sky, "Don’t worry. I’m coming to get you. Stay where you are and don’t go anywhere. I’ll find you. Okay?"

"My head is hurting..."

"Just hold on. Keep talking to me." Chris said as he placed the phone on speaker and dropped it before throwing off his bathrobe to put on his clothes. He changed very fast and grabbed his room key card. He knew he had to act fast and get to Sky as soon as possible. His earlier anger towards him was replaced with worry, and he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving Sky in such a vulnerable state.

As he rushed through the hotel corridors, he was fortunate to find a cab outside, which he quickly boarded.

He kept Sky on the phone, giving him directions and asking him to describe his surroundings. It was difficult to get any useful information out of him since he seemed to be in a very bad state, but Chris kept trying.

What was wrong with the people here? He had had a good impression of them his first week here, but now he’s had a change of mind.

First, one had taken advantage of a drunk person and had the guts to threaten him. And then another had drugged someone. These people were crazy wild.

"Is there anyone else around you?" Chris asked Sky again even though he doubted that.

"I’m... alone. I... h-hid." His voice sounded very quiet.

Chris wasn’t sure what to do or say since he had never been faced with this kind of situation before.

"Can you come outside the main gate on your own?"

"No!" Sky answered almost immediately. And then he slowly added, "I... am... s-scared." His tone was quiet and vulnerable.

It made Chris even more concerned, as he urged the driver beside him to drive faster.

"Tell me all you see." He said to Sky, hoping to keep him engaged.

"The... garden is pretty, but I don’t know where exactly I am. There... are trees. And stars. The stars are sparkling. Like... you." Sky mumbled, and then it sounded like he was throwing up.

"Hey! Stay on the line with me, Sky. I’m coming to find you. Just keep talking to me, Okay?" Chris said, trying to keep his voice steady despite his own growing anxiety.

"My eyes... are burning. Everywhere hurts." Sky said in a strained voice. His voice was distant now. Chris could guess he wasn’t close to his phone anymore.

"I’ll be there soon, okay? Tell me how else you feel."

"There? Where?" Sky asked, his voice getting louder.

"Wherever you are. Just stay on the—"

The call was disconnected.

"What the fuck!" he exclaimed as he looked at the screen, confirming it had indeed been disconnected.

The driver gave him an unpleasant look, but that was the least of his problems, as he kept trying to call back, but it was no longer connecting.

His mind raced with different thoughts. He was so bothered about Sky that he had forgotten how stressed and exhausted he had been earlier.

When the driver pulled up in front of the building, he asked him to wait for a while for him to bring his friend, and then he hurried back in search of Sky.

The party was still ongoing but less crowded now, and most people seemed to have passed out in several spots.

The music was still on full blast; however, when he was on the call earlier, the sound of the music had been distant. That told him that Sky wasn’t around here.

He moved further away, hoping to find him while also asking any near-sober person he could find about a flower garden, hoping Sky was still there.

After almost 10 minutes of asking and looking around, he was finally able to locate a place far behind the building that seemed like what Sky had described. It was a small, flowery garden tucked away behind the building.

And then he found him.

He first released a heavy sigh of relief when he saw Sky still there.

Sky sat on the ground, looking disoriented. It was nothing like Chris had seen him in. Rushing over, Chris crouched in front of him and looked at him in concern.
