Chapter 175: Fighting over Sky (1)

Chris glared at Ash, his dislike radiating off him in waves.

"Are you dating Sky?" Ash asked, his voice deceptively casual.

"Cut the crap," Chris snapped. "You didn’t come here to play twenty questions. Get to the point."

Ash smirked. "Touchy, aren’t we? Fine. I’ll get to the point." He tilted his head, studying Chris like he was testing him. "Give up."

Chris raised a brow, unimpressed. "Give up what?" he asked just as his phone started buzzing and he took it out. Wilson was calling. He removed the volume and kept his phone back.

"Sky."

Chris let out a short laugh. Were they back to this nonsense again?

"You think you can tell me what to do?"

"I’m telling you this for your own good," Ash said smoothly, his voice almost pitying.

Chris scoffed, shaking his head. "This wouldn’t happen to be about Sky’s little engagement to your sister, would it?"

Ash’s eyes flickered with surprise, and Chris knew then that he hadn’t expected him to know. Like he wasn’t that special to know about it.

"Did Sky tell you that?" Ash asked, recovering quickly but Chris did not bother to dignify him with any answers.

Ash exhaled, then leaned forward, voice lowering. "Fine. You like Sky. But what can you give him?"

Chris frowned.

"Think about it," Ash continued. "Sky works himself to the bone—studies non-stop, juggles part-time jobs. But I can make sure he never has to worry about money again. He won’t have to struggle, won’t have to fight for scraps. I can get him a secured future, a real one. What about you?"

Chris let out a dry chuckle. "Wow. I can see why Sky hates rich assholes like you." His lips curled into a smirk. "And let me guess—your sister also has money. So why not let her take care of him instead? Maybe you should give up."

There had to be a reason this guy was persistently bothering him like this. Did he see him as a big threat? That was lovely.

Ash laughed, low and amused. "You don’t get it, do you? Sky is mine."

Chris’s eyes darkened.

Ash hissed, his voice low and possessive. "No one knows Sky like I do. No one knows what he wants, what he needs, like I do." He looked at Chris, his eyes raking over him with a mixture of disdain and something else... envy? "You’re good-looking, I’ll give you that. But Sky would never want you. He wouldn’t want someone soft, someone... gentle. He’ll be bored."

Ash leaned closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Sky likes it rough. Like me. Someone who can push him, challenge him, drive him insane." He paused, letting the words hang in the air. "And I know his insecurities, Chris. His secrets. His needs. I can give him everything he craves. I can break him and heal him."

Chris clenched his fists under the table, his patience wearing thin.

This guy... Ash. He reeked toxicity. It was disgusting. Besides, wasn’t this the same guy who had made out with his friend, Wilson had the party, earning him a punch from him?

Ash sat back, his eyes gleaming with a strange intensity. "I’m sure Sky and Mei are lying to all of us. Sky just wants to get away from me."

"You are... delusional," Chris said, his voice flat.

Ash threw his head back and laughed. "Delusional? No, Chris. I’m not delusional. And that’s because I know something you don’t. Something no one else knows." He paused, savoring the moment. "Mei... she likes women. And Sky knows it."

The words hit Chris like a blow and he froze. He stared at Ash, speechless, his mind reeling from this new piece of information.

He hadn’t expected that.

Mei liked women? Sky knew?

His head spun with the implications. Did this mean the engagement had been fake all along? A lie? If Mei had no interest in men, then from the very beginning, Sky and Mei had only been playing along.

He should be angry that Sky had kept this from him. However, a slow, creeping excitement stirred in Chris’s chest.

But he wasn’t sure yet if this guy was worth believing.

He narrowed his eyes at Ash. "Are you lying?"

Ash smirked. "Why would I?" He crossed his arms, watching Chris closely. "I know Mei. She’s probably just trying to save her own ass from our father and decided to drag Sky into it." His gaze darkened. "But I can’t just stand on the sidelines and watch anymore."

Chris scoffed. "And why the hell is this your business? Why can’t you just let them be? Mei is your sister after all—"

"Because if Mei hadn’t done that," Ash said, voice dropping, "Sky would have been mine by now."

Chris blinked, then let out a short laugh. "You sound like a spoiled brat who didn’t get the toy he wanted." He smirked. "You really think Sky would still want you?"

Ash’s expression stiffened.

Chris leaned forward, resting an elbow on the table. "What do you even have aside from your family’s money? You’re not even that good-looking." He tilted his head mockingly. "And when I kissed you, it was bad. So what else is there?"

For the first time, Ash faltered. His mouth opened slightly, his brows drawing together.

"What..." he stuttered, his voice caught in disbelief.

Chris could see it in his face—the sheer shock of hearing those words directed at him. Like no one had ever dared say such a thing before.

Ash’s expression twisted, and then—he laughed.

"Oh, I see what you’re doing." He grinned, shaking his head. "You’re just trying to piss me off because you’re jealous. Sweetheart, even a blind man can see my charms."

Chris sighed deeply, staring at him flatly.

This guy was really full of himself.

Ash suddenly looked serious and leaned back as he said, "I asked you to do something for me last time," Ash said, his voice laced with a casual cruelty. "You refused."

Chris remembered how persistent he had been with him back then, saying he needed him to do something for him, but he had refused. It was the same evening he had kissed Ash to throw him off after he threatened to expose his feelings for Sky and have everyone, including Sky, ostracize him.

"I wasn’t interested. Still not." Chris replied, his voice flat.

Ash nodded, a predatory gleam in his eyes. "I’m no longer interested either. I wanted you to help me with a little... experiment. Since you’re Sky’s roommate, I thought you could help me gauge his reaction. A completely nude you, walking into the room. To solidify my suspicions about his... preferences." He paused, a smirk playing on his lips. "But I don’t need it anymore. I can tell now. I’ve been suspicious for years, but now I know."
