Chapter 152: "I liked him first,"
Chapter 152: "I liked him first,"
There was a loud scream. One filled with awareness. With dread.
Sky was awake.
The atmosphere in Noel’s living room was tense—awkward silence hovering over the friends like an invisible cloud. Rain stood stiff, her gaze laser-focused on the stairs where Sky’s scream had just pierced through the house.
Henry and Noel exchanged wide-eyed glances. Normally, they’d burst out laughing at the dramatic situation, but even they could sense how... serious things were now.
They were currently crashing at Noel’s family place. His house was the closest to Sinclair’s and they had come here at night.
Currently, his parents were out, so they house was left to them.
Rain turned to them with a glare sharp enough to cut them. "Stay back," she ordered, her voice fierce.
Noel’s brow furrowed. "But this is my house," he muttered, sounding bewildered. "That’s my room—"
"Don’t care." Rain’s tone brooked no argument.
Henry shot Noel a look that said *Let her handle it, dude.* Begrudgingly, Noel held up his hands in surrender. "Fine. But if she burns the place down, it’s on her."
Everyone was aware that she’d once had a thing for Chris. Whether she was over it or not, no one was quite sure. And now, there was Sky. Her brother. The same brother who had kissed Chris.
Twins with the same type, apparently.
No one said it aloud, but the tension had been building since the night before.

**Flashback to Last Night**
Everything had been going pretty normal and smoothly until Sky kissed Chris.
The kiss hadn’t looked like a mistake.
It wasn’t a subtle, drunken peck either. Sky’s hand had gone to the back of Chris’s neck, pulling him closer as he nibbled on his lips, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
And what about Chris? Frozen.
His eyes wide with shock.
The room had gone completely dead, even the bass from the party fading into irrelevance. Sinclair, Rain and Rachel, in particular, looked like they’d just witnessed the apocalypse.
Chris instinctively pulled back, staring at Sky like he had lost his mind. Because, honestly, it seemed like he had.
"W-What the hell?" Chris stammered, disbelief and confusion mingling in his voice.
Sky, however, looked perfectly composed. Or rather, perfectly drunk. His expression was calm but unfocused, his gaze locked solely on Chris.
Chris knew he had to do damage control—and fast. He knew that once Sky came to his senses, the boy was going to lose it. He would go crazy if he realized what he had done.
Forcing a laugh, Chris awkwardly waved his hand. "Ah, he’s just... drunk, alright?" He glanced at the group, trying to downplay the shock on their faces. "It’s been a long night. We’re all a little... out of it."
Silence.
"I mean, it’s been a long night. We’re all a little... out of it." But even Chris couldn’t hide the confusion in his voice as he looked around the room.
The silence was thick enough to choke on. Noel, Rachel, and Henry looked stunned, but Sinclair and Rain were on a whole other level of disbelief. They couldn’t even blink.
Rain’s mouth was slightly open, as if she hadn’t processed what she’d just seen. Sinclair looked like he’d seen a ghost.
"Well, guess we’re all just gonna pretend like that didn’t happen?" Sinclair looked around the group, raising an eyebrow.
Rachel blinked a few times, clearly unsure whether to laugh, scream, or pretend she hadn’t seen a thing. "Uh... was that... intentional?"
Chris opened his mouth to respond, but his brain short-circuited. He wanted to say something—anything—but his mind just wouldn’t form the words. He let out a nervous laugh, hoping it would break the tension.
The basement was oppressively silent, the kind of heavy stillness that made even breathing feel awkward. Then, as if on cue, Henry let out a loud, exaggerated cough, clearly desperate to cut through the tension.
"Y-Yes! He’s drunk," Henry blurted with manic enthusiasm, gesturing wildly at Sky. "Hahaha! He does that sometimes, you know? Confuses people for a particular girl in his life... Happens all the time! Totally normal! Hahaha."
"Hahaha!" Noel forced out a laugh, nodding. "Sato gets crazy like that. Hahaha!"
The forced laughter bounced off the walls, hollow and desperate.
Chris stared at them like ’please stop talking’, but Henry was already committed. He shot up from the floor, his eyes gleaming with misplaced determination. "Believe me. Sato is like that. See? Watch this."
Everyone froze as Henry marched over to Sky, his lips puckered like he was about to deliver the kiss of salvation.
Henry hoped his friend would at least realize what he had done and get on the act with him.
He leaned in, his lips puckered.
Just a peck.
Just one tiny peck.
At this point, even Chris could not help but hope Sky would lean into it. At least for his reputation.
They all watched, wide-eyed and unblinking. Even Rain and Sinclair, who had been too stunned to move, leaned forward in morbid fascination.
Chris continued to internally beg Sky to just go along with it—anything.
Sky’s attention finally moved to Henry.
And then—
Sky frowned deeply, his eyes narrowing as he registered what was happening.
Sky’s response was as swift as it was brutal. "The fuck you trying to do to me?" he slurred, looking at Henry like he’d lost his mind.
Before Henry could even think of backing away, Sky shoved him with surprising force. Henry flailed like a rag doll and landed hard on the floor.
"AHHH!" Henry wailed dramatically, clutching his side like he’d been mortally wounded.
The sound of several winces echoed in the room as they all watched the fragile guy being tossed away.
Chris rubbed his face with both hands. Well, there was no other way to explain this. He gritted his teeth.
Rain blinked a few times, then spoke slowly, her voice laced with disbelief. "Okay... I think I need a drink."
"Good idea," Noel said, jumping to his feet like someone had just offered him an escape route from a burning building. "Anyone else need a drink?"
Rachel shot up immediately, practically sprinting toward the stairs without turning back.
Sinclair lingered for a moment, giving Sky a long, unreadable glance before standing up. "I’ll, uh... check on the party. See if it hasn’t turned into a riot."
As the group awkwardly dispersed, even Henry managed to get up, rubbing his sore back with a wounded expression.
Chris looked back at Sky, who had—unbelievably—fallen asleep against the wall. His head lolled to the side, lips slightly parted, as if none of the chaos had ever happened.
Chris’s heart raced. This is not what I signed up for.
Fine, it was nice to know that Sky desired him and couldn’t suppress it in his drunken state.
The way he had looked at him.
Called him beautiful.
Kissed him.
Shoved Henry.
If he already didn’t know that Sky liked him, this should have been enough to clear all doubt. But now, he was worried about him and the repercussion this was going to have when he finally became sane.
Back To The Present...
Back to the Present...
Rain burst through the door like a storm unleashed. Sky was sprawled on the bed, cradling his head with both hands, eyes wide and filled with dread. His face was pale, beads of sweat dotting his forehead despite the cool morning breeze seeping through the window.
The moment Rain entered, his gaze snapped up to meet hers.
She slammed the door shut with a force that shook the frame.
"WHAT THE HELL, SKY?" she bellowed, her voice reverberating through the room.
Yes, for real—because...
WHAT. THE. HELL.
"For how long?" she demanded, her eyes blazing.
Sky blinked, confused. "What... what are you talking about?" he stuttered, his voice dry and cracked.
His brain was sluggish. First, he had a pounding headache. Second, his stomach threatened to revolt. And third—oh God—he clearly remembered kissing Chris. In public.
The memory made his insides churn.
"Don’t play with me!" Rain snapped, pointing an accusatory finger at him. "For how long have you been in a relationship with him?"
"Him?" Sky’s voice wavered as his face turned even paler. "I’m not... I mean, I’m with Mei. You know that! That was just—"
"Don’t you dare say it was a drunken mistake!" she yelled, her voice raw with fury.
Sky clamped his mouth shut, struggling to sit up on the bed. His messy hair fell over his face as he avoided her piercing gaze.
"Is that why you told Chris to stay away from me? Because you wanted him all to yourself?" she accused, her voice trembling.
He turned to face her, guilt and confusion written all over his face. "No," he answered firmly. "There’s nothing going on between us."
"You could’ve fooled me!" she shot back, her tone sharp with bitterness. "He had plenty of chances to avoid that kiss." She pointed out. "When... I tried to kiss him—" her voice wavered, "he dodged it. Quick, clean, no hesitation. You saw it." Her cheeks burned with embarrassment.
Her eyes narrowed. "But with you? He didn’t move. He let it happen." Her voice broke. "AND YOU SAY THERE’S NOTHING BETWEEN YOU?"
Sky’s breath caught in his throat.
"You knew I liked him," she whispered, her voice laced with pain. "You knew, Sky. Were you having fun watching me make a fool of myself?" Her voice cracked, and her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "You told him to stay away from me because you wanted to have him!?"
Sky’s throat tightened. "Rain—"
"Don’t," she interrupted, shaking her head. "Don’t even try to fix this right now." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "You can’t."
The weight of her words hung in the air, suffocating them both.
"I... know you are mad." He said quietly, standing up from the bed.
"But I... I liked him first."
Shamelessly.
