Chapter 127: "Go for it... kiss me"

Sky turned sharply, his face a mix of irritation and something he couldn’t quite mask. "Pretending what doesn’t affect me?"

Chris tilted his head, his facial expression softening into something almost sincere. "This," he said, gesturing faintly to the nearly nonexistent space between them.

Sky’s jaw tightened. He stared at Chris like he was trying to solve a puzzle he didn’t want to finish. Finally, he muttered, "You’re impossible," before turning back to the screen.

Chris chuckled, settling back but keeping their legs firmly pressed together. "And yet, here you are," he said, echoing the earlier tease.

The movie continued, but the real drama was unfolding on that bed. Chris let the charged silence stretch, savoring the moment. A couple on screen shared a quick kiss, calling it their first kiss.

Then, as if the thought had just occurred to him, he broke it.

"So," he said casually, eyes on the screen, "When did you have your first kiss, Mei?"

Sky stiffened immediately, his head snapping toward Chris, his expression a mix of shock and disbelief.

"Chris!" he hissed, his voice sharp but low, as if worried someone might overhear, even though they were completely alone.

Chris turned his head lazily. "What?" he asked, feigning innocence. "Why do you sound so shocked?" He knew Sky liked to keep most things about himself private. But he had reacted too strongly.

"Unless..." His gaze narrowed playfully, scrutinizing Sky’s reaction. "Don’t tell me you’ve never kissed her?"

Sky’s mouth opened and closed, searching for a response. "It’s none of your business," he finally muttered, looking away, clearly flustered.

Chris blinked, his playfulness faltering for a moment as realization dawned on him. "Wait, seriously?" he asked, sitting up straighter. "You haven’t kissed your own fiancée?"

"It’s none of your business," Sky snapped, his face flushed.

Chris let out a low whistle, leaning back again but keeping his eyes fixed on Sky. "Wow. So what are you waiting for? Your wedding day? Let me guess..." He tilted his head, his tone light but dripping with mischief. "You’re saving your first kiss for the altar?"

Sky glared at him, his jaw tightening. "Shut up, Chris," Sky grumbled, clearly uncomfortable.

Chris could hardly believe it. Not that he shamed anyone for choosing to keep their chastity. But Sky was just...

"I kinda always knew you were Mr. Innocent who has never kissed someone before. But...," leaning closer, Chris whispered. "You do realize I already stole your first kiss, right?"

Sky answered immediately. "That doesn’t count." His lip was pressed into a thin line. "It was a mistake. And it wasn’t a big deal," he muttered, clearly still uncomfortable.

Chris’s eyes darkened slightly, his amusement giving way to something more serious. He leaned in, close enough that Sky had no choice but to look at him.

"It wasn’t a big deal?" Chris repeated, his voice low, almost dangerous. "You kissed me back, Sky. Don’t try to rewrite history."

"I didn’t kiss you back. You were sleepy and kissed me by mistake and that was all," Sky replied, his tone defensive. "Also, it was a long time ago and I clearly told you that it didn’t matter. No big deal there." He shrugged.

Chris studied him for a long moment, his gaze unwavering. Then, slowly, deliberately, he moved even closer, their faces mere inches apart. "So you only let it be because I was asleep?" Chris murmured, his voice a whisper. "What about now?"

Chris’s words hung in the air between them. He didn’t break eye contact, his lips curling into a small, knowing smile. "What if I asked for a kiss, right here, right now? Would that be a mistake too? Not a big deal?"

Sky’s throat bobbed as he swallowed, his eyes flicking to Chris’s lips for the briefest of moments before darting away.

Chris caught the movement, and his smile softened, losing its teasing edge. "You’re scared," he said quietly, not accusing but understanding.

Sky didn’t respond, but the tension in his posture spoke volumes.

Chris leaned back slightly, giving him just enough space to breathe but he still lingered right in his space. "Relax," he said softly, his tone gentler now. "I’m not asking you to do anything you don’t want to," he paused, "But if you want to... go for it," he paused again, "Kiss me."

Chris heard Sky’s breathing hitch. His words seemed to echo in the charged air between them.

Kiss me.

The challenge in Chris’s voice was unmistakable, but there was something else—something quieter, more deliberate. Chris didn’t move, his eyes steady on Sky’s, daring him, teasing him, waiting.

Sky’s lips parted as if to say something, but no words came. His mind raced, searching for an out, for anything that would break this impossible moment.

Chris could read all of it.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Sky finally muttered, his voice lower now, almost strained.

Chris tilted his head, feigning innocence. "What’s wrong with me? I’m not the one acting like a kiss is some life-changing event."

Sky’s eyes narrowed, his jaw tightening. "It’s not. It’s just..." He trailed off, the words dying on his tongue.

"It’s just what? A mistake? Not a big deal?" He leaned in further, the playful edge in his tone softening into something more intimate. "If it’s nothing, then why are you so flustered?"

"I’m not flustered," Sky shot back, his voice sharper than he intended.

Chris chuckled, low and amused. "You’re adorable when you lie, you know that?"

Sky bristled, his fists clenching at his sides. "I am not lying. And DO NOT fucking call me adorable."

Sky was looking at him squarely in the eyes.

"Don’t swear with these pretty lips," Chris murmured as he lay his index finger across Sky’s lips to shush him, startling the pretty boy. His gaze flicked to Sky’s lips again where his finger still was. Chris lingered closely just long enough to hear Sky’s heart pound in his chest.

Then he got bolder. His finger began to gently graze his lips. It was soft.

Chris could also hear his heart beating wildly.

He wanted to kiss him.

Badly.

He got even bolder, reaching for the gap between Sky’s lips to dip his finger into the space.
