It's Just A Picture (BL)
Chapter 74: What part of prim and proper do you not understand?

Chapter 74: What part of prim and proper do you not understand?

Dongwoo made a new resolution.

Now that his secret was out to the twins, there was no use hiding. But... He still couldn’t get involved with them.

They might not believe in curses or whatnot, but he was still scared of ruining their life just because he decided to be greedy and selfish and have them to himself.

For crying out loud... They had a bright future.

Both brothers agreed to be with him but he just couldn’t see that happening. They had appearances and origins that were far apart from his, so why would they like him of all people?

He was simply too plain. (Cough. That’s what he thinks)

They said he made a huge positive impact in their lives, so was it since then? No, they couldn’t have possibly held feelings for him since they were so little.

Did they even know the meaning of life and love when they were that young?

Sure, they learned faster than kids their age and were very good at adapting, but... No, it just wasn’t possible.

"They must be mistaking their feelings of appreciation." I muttered to myself.

"Did you say something?" Taiha asked and Dongwoo raised his head.

"Ah, nothing. Don’t mind me." Dongwoo said. "So, where did you say we were going?"

"A barber’s shop."

"What? To do what?" Dongwoo asked, shocked. He wasn’t asking to get his hair shaved, was he?

"Your hair is too long to be considered short." Taiha said. "You’re going to get a little trim around the edges."

"But I like my hair the way it is."

"We all do." Taiha said with a blank face. "But for this occasion, we have to look prim and proper, if you know what I mean. There’s going to be a fair number of big shots so we have to show up looking like gents, even if we don’t have to."

They entered the shop with Dongwoo sulking a bit. Even the twins once complained that he needed to trim his hair, but he honestly didn’t see any need for that. His hair was fine the way it was.

By his own standard, that is.

"Sigh, I guess my standards are pretty low."

"Are you just figuring that out, kiddo?" Taiha said and laughed.

’See, even Taiha Sunbae can tell that I’m a plain Jane.’ he thought but he soon swallowed his words as Taiha added,

"But you don’t look half bad." He said. "If you get this trim done properly and wear things that bring out your eyes, you’re way above average."

Dogwood gulped, baffled.

"Are you serious?" He asked and Taiha laughed.

"I get that you’re surprised. After all, when you look into the mirror, you probably only see that mass of hair that’s covering up most of your forehead. It’s a miracle that your hair doesn’t fall in your eyes. I’m sure if it did, you would’ve gotten it trimmed a long time ago."

Dongwoo hardly ever took care of himself. He didn’t visit the salon much and just used the little money he had for necessities alone. It’s no surprise that his hair was rough.

"What can I do for you?" One of the hair stylists asked, and Taiha pointed at Dongwoo with a cheeky smile.

"Give this guy a hair makeover. And if possible," he smirked. "Make his face shine. It’s been dull long enough."

"Sunbae-nim, I thought I was only going to get my hair trimmed." Dongwoo said but Taiha cackled.

"What part of prim and proper do you not understand? Haha. You’ll need to shine if you want to stand next to me. Now, get going. Remember, I’m going to be introducing you to some big shots, so you have to look your best."

’Ugh, I can’t argue with that. But... Is this going to cost much? I don’t really care about my appearance but...’ he sighed. ’I guess we’ll have to do this after all.’

"Right this way please."

For Taiha to take Dongwoo to a salon of his own volition wasn’t simply because he wanted to make sure Dongwoo was trimmed properly around the edges. He could’ve just given him the order to do it, but... He got fond of him.

A youngster under him who was going to shoot to fame in no time with his skills would make sure to groom him properly and let him know that he, Taiha, had his back.

That evening, Dongwoo checked the automated car feeder to make sure there was enough food and water for Lily when she was hungry.

He stroked her hair and said,

"Sorry, Lily. I’ve been spending less time with you these days, haven’t I? I’ll make sure to make it up to you once I’m free, okay? We’ll go to a cat park."

Lily simply purred and then yawned.

She didn’t really mind. There was food, water, a roof over her head, and even toys; what more could she ask for?

She was just a cat bathing in its master’s fortune. Besides, she liked the peace.

"Meow." She gave a response, and Dongwoo smiled.

"I’ll be home late tonight but just in case, there’s enough food to last you till morning. Though, I don’t know if you’ll eat it all tonight." Dongwoo said, putting on his coat, and then he heard the doorbell.

He went to the door and checked the intercom to see the twins.

Ah, they looked like they were ready.

’It seems I can’t run from this. We’ll have to attend together, I suppose.’ he opened the door and as soon as the twins saw him, their eyes widened in surprise.

"What? Do I look odd?" Dongwoo asked. With less hair on his head, he was feeling a little out of place.

"Matteo," Seojin suddenly called, without responding to Dongwoo. "It seems we’ll be using your Tesla after all."

"Ah, you read my mind brother."

Arriving at the venue, models, and directors were meant to walk the red carpet, and that included Dongwoo.

Though he was still a no-name, he was still the one behind most of the amazing shots of the twins. So, he would get introduced when their pictures were released.

"Are you nervous, Hyung?" Seojin asked and Dongwoo nodded.

"I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Of course, I’ll be nervous." He said and they both laughed.

"Don’t be, you look great."

"Ah, I wish we were the only ones seeing Hyung like this." Seojun said and Dongwoo finally laughed.

"What’s this? Am I a showpiece?" He asked.

"You’re not but you’re just too pretty that anyone could snatch you away." Seojin said and without realizing it, Dongwoo blushed.

But he quickly calmed himself as it was already time to get out of the car.

Dongwoo, wearing a blue tux that matched the color of his eyes, came down from the car with an air of sophistication around him, and accompanying him were, though not spoken, the stars of the show, wearing white tux that added to their already glorious radiance.

Though it was widely known as the anniversary of Wailers, it was known to a few that this was the debut of two shining stars.

One would wonder why Wailers would put so much effort into both of them, though just looking at them, you’d know it was worth it, but that secret would be revealed soon enough.
