Chapter 67: Seojun, you’re making a scene

"Friends?"

"Yes, friends." Dongwoo said. "I didn’t think it was still normal to call our relationship a work-related relationship. We chat often and now we’re eating together. I also feel comfortable with you, even if you overdo it sometimes, but I’ll be glad to call you my friend." He explained.

Then, the waiter came back with their food in a tray and dropped them according to the orders. They were very much the same thing. Pasta with a touch of hot sauce and beef.

"Enjoy your meal." The waiter said and left.

After the waiter left, Dongwoo picked up the cutleries and said,

"Thank you for the food."

Geumtae watched Dongwoo as he ate, looking dumbfounded. He was surprised, hearing Dongwoo’s words. They were plain and simple but those simple words drew a line.

He didn’t know if it was Dongwoo’s intentions or if he did it without knowing but calling him a ’friend’ was very much putting him in one spot and telling him there was nothing more that could come out of their relationship.

’Haha, what’s this? And to think I put in a lot of effort.’ he looked at the food in front of him. ’He didn’t react much after finding out I was gay, so I was sure my speculation was correct and he was gay as well, but what’s this? He drew a line before I could even do anything.’

It was funny, really. To think he wanted to use this opportunity to get ’closer’ to him. Was Dongwoo smarter than he thought? Was he also calculative? Or was it just a coincidence?

They hadn’t known each other for too long. This could’ve been one of his characters that he wasn’t very familiar with.

He laughed.

"What’s funny?" Dongwoo asked after slurping the long line of pasta that was sticking out of his mouth.

Geumtae looked at the sauce all over his mouth and chuckled.

"It’s nothing." He said. ’Well, no matter. People can always graduate from being just friends. As long as I’m close to him,’ he picked up the napkin in front of him and reached out to help him clean his mouth. ’...I still have plenty of chances.’

"What do you think you’re doing?" Seojin, who appeared out of nowhere, asked, gripping Geumtae’s wrist just before he had the chance to reach Dongwoo’s mouth.

Dongwoo’s head was bowed and he didn’t dare raise it. He was certain he knew who that voice belonged to, but he was too shocked to move. How did... How did he find him?

"Ah, if it isn’t the mutt." Geumtae said and rested his chin on his palm. "You’re being disobedient and following your master around again, aren’t you?"

"I’d say the same to you but I’m not here for games." He said and turned to Dongwoo who still had his head bowed. ’I don’t even want to know why he’s here with this guy but why won’t he even look at me? It’s frustrating.’

"Did you find him?" Seojun asked, approaching, and then he looked at the occupants of the table his brother was standing at to see Dongwoo sitting with some guy. He frowned. ’The fuck!’

"Hm," Geumtae looked at Seojun behind him and then tanked his hand out of Seojin’s grasp. "Who knew mutts came in pairs these days?" He said and turned to smile at Dongwoo. "You really know how to be a keeper, Sweetie."

"What did you just call him?" Seojun asked. Unlike Seojin who had only a faint idea of what that word meant, Seojun knew fully well he was referring to ’sweetie’. "You dare... Are you one of those bastards who try to deceive Hyung and then make him depressed?"

"Seojun, what are you doing?" Dongwoo finally reacted.

"Don’t worry, Hyung. I’ll make sure he stays as far away from you as possible."

"Oh, so this one’s the feisty one." Geumtae commented quite calmly for someone in his situation.

"Seojun, you’re making a scene." Dongwoo said, feeling anxious as all eyes were falling on them.

This was a public space and though it was a fancy restaurant, there was no guarantee that no one would take pictures and post the commotion online. He had to stop such a thing from happening.

He pushed Seojun back lightly, stopping him from his attempt to grab Geumtae’s collar.

Seojin simply stood at the side and watched. Yeah, they were making a scene but that didn’t matter. No matter what, they had to scare off all the bugs from surrounding their dear Hyung.

Fearing that something would go horribly wrong, Dongwoo decided to leave.

"Thank you for the meal." He said to Geumtae. "But I’ll have to leave early."

He picked up his bag, grabbed Seojin and Seojun’s hands, and dragged them outside.

He wanted to see them. He wanted to see them so badly but not like this. This was the worst way they could ever reveal themselves.

Outside, Dongwoo pulled them to a corner where there were little to no eyes watching, and only then did he let go of them, but he only showed his back. He didn’t say anything and didn’t move an inch either. He simply clutched hard on the hand of his bag and bit his bottom lip.

"Hyung, who was that guy and why were you with him?" Seojun asked. "Why were you eating with him in that fancy restaurant? It’s suspicious."

"Hyung, we know you’ve been avoiding us but is this the reason? Did you try to avoid us so much so you could date that guy?" Seojin asked. "I don’t trust him, Hyung."

Their words went on and on and Dongwoo could only grip harder and bit down deeper till he was close to tearing his lip.

And then, like a person being controlled by a remote, he stopped gripping and biting and said,

"Stop."

That simple word shut them up right away.

"You’re models just about to make your debut." He said. "Your image matters a lot. How could you be so careless as to start a fight in public?"

"Hyung-"

"Let me finish." He said, interrupting them from trying to defend their actions. "Me and the rest of the crew are trying our best to bring out the best of your image, yet you want to ruin it, and all for what? Because I had a single meal with a friend?"

"Friend? Hyung, that bas... That guy definitely has other motives towards you. It’s very obvious. All the guys who approached you did it with Ulterior motives, and in the end, they just made your life a lot more unbearable than it already was. They made you suffer."

"You..."

Dongwoo finally turned to face them and they flinched in shock.

The expression on Dongwoo’s face was livid. He looked angry. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes were blazing.

"You’ve been talking about my past like you were here. Like you know anything about it. You... Did you investigate me?"
