Chapter 51: Have you seen the news lately?

The next day, I kept my word and went to check on the twins before going to work. I didn’t ring the bell and went right in, scared that I would wake them if they happened to be asleep.

And they were.

So, I simply made breakfast for them at the expense of going to work late, left a note for them, and went straight to the company. Not straight though, because I had to drop Lily off with Geumtae.

We exchanged a few words over texts and got to know each other a bit. Even if I didn’t want to, I ended up getting along with him and so, if asked, I could say we were acquaintances.

Besides, I’d eventually come to pay him back for his help since we weren’t that close and I promised him a meal.

Hopefully, he isn’t a heavy eater.

With that face and body, I doubt it... I hope.

I yawned after settling down in my office. I had a hot cup of coffee to cheer me up.

’I feel so sleepy.’ I thought to myself and sipped from my coffee.

This month’s issue will be out soon.

Issues are what you call a single, regular publication of a journal, magazine, newspaper, newsletter, or trade publication. A magazine or journal that publishes monthly will have twelve issues in a year.

Well, this month’s issue seemed to center around a very particular direction. Wailers was doing all it could to make a splashing debut for the twins.

I understood why they were going fast and couldn’t let the golden faces they’ve acquired go to waste, but I felt they were putting in more effort than an average comprehension.

I couldn’t comprehend it and that was why I was still lost.

But, oh well, that wasn’t my expertise. My job was to make sure the pictures came out as perfect as possible so my boys would look like gods on the pages.

"You look like a zombie." Taiha complimented me as he walked into my office, and I gave out a light yer, nervous chuckle.

"I don’t think it’s that bad, Sunbae-nim." I said and turned my focus on what I was editing.

"I heard you called in sick for the twins." He said and I paused but continued what I was doing nonetheless.

"Yes, sir." I said.

"Are they okay?" He asked and I nodded.

He made his way to the couch and I went ahead to do my work but then he asked,

"Hm, seems like you were right when you said one of them didn’t look good. But to think both would fall sick."

"They’re twins so it’s not inconceivable for the other to fall sick if one does." I explained.

"Hm, that’s true. You seem to know a lot about them." He said and I felt he was trying to sound me out but kept my lips sealed. "You called in sick for them. Does that mean you’re very close with them? Do you live next to each other?"

Why was he asking such personal questions all of a sudden? I didn’t know how to answer. If I said, ’Yes, we’re close’, how would I explain the closeness of our relationship?

We were staying next to each other, yes, but how did that happen? Not everyone knows that the company offered me an apartment along with the benefits I was given.

Would it be saying too much if I said I was once their neighbor?

My head was spinning and my fingers on my laptop were sweaty with nervousness.

I pursed my lips.

Taiha seemed to have noticed my restlessness and quickly spoke to avoid getting misunderstood.

"I’m not trying to sound you out." He said. "I just wanted to know if you were aware of their health status right now. If they went to her hospital or took their meds. It would be a huge setback if they took the whole week off because they were sick so the earlier they treated it, the better, right?"

"R-right." I answered and clenched my fists.

He sighed and decided to change the topic. The discomfort seemed to be getting to him too.

"Have you seen the news lately?" He asked, and I paused, and looked up in confusion.

"No, not really." I said.

"Jeez, young people should be the first to see these things. How come you’re so oblivious? Is your phone for decoration?" He asked and sighed at the end.

What was it? Was there something important going on that I didn’t know of?

I wasn’t a fan of scrolling through the internet so I was oblivious of a lot of things. But for trend’s sake, I did scroll through from time to time.

’It isn’t time for me to scroll through the internet so I don’t know.’ I thought to myself and took out my phone. "Hm, Sunbae-nim, is there anything I should take note of? Like, a clue as to what I’m looking for?" I asked and once again, he sighed.

"Aish, you know it as soon as you see it." He said and got up from the couch. He walked headed for the door but then paused and turned to ask, "Also, you didn’t forget to get yourself a suit for the anniversary party, did you?"

As soon as he said that, I paused my lips. I had completely forgotten.

"Um..." I looked away in guilt and that gave me away instantly.

"Well, I’m reminding you now. Don’t go crying that you forgot to prepare on that day." He said and I laughed nervously.

"Thank you for the reminder." I said but he simply waved and left.

I sighed. That was so awkward of me.

I rested back on my chair and sighed once more, covering my face with my arm.

I have a problem of thinking too much in a situation. I couldn’t comprehend fast or react fast. I made a mess with a little slip and gave away the fact that I was nervous.

If only I could let the words slip through my lips like it was nothing but a mere whistle.

I picked up my phone and checked the internet for what Taiha was trying to tell me. Though I didn’t know if I would find it.

But... As soon as I opened the page, I immediately understood what he was trying to tell me.

Seriously, I could never comprehend the abilities of these big companies. The twins hadn’t made their debut yet but they were already sending out signals to the public with articles, making them anticipate.

"Jeez, the boys are going to go far." I muttered and thought of something which saddened me. I covered my face again and in a silent voice, whispered to myself, "I’m exhausted."
