Chapter 276: To think this is how you’d expose yourself
Badum!
That was the sound Dongwoo’s heart was making. He was shocked but beyond that, he was worried.
His eyes scanned their expressions, one at a time, as if looking for something.
The look on their faces... He wanted to see if there was disgust.
In the past, if anyone found out he was gay, they would suddenly have this disgusted look and start judging him in their minds.
They wouldn’t even try to hide the fact and treat him like he was some piece of shit standing in their way and threatening to stain their white.
Dongwoo gulped.
He needed to make an excuse. Yes, come up with something that would explain why both guys kissed him on the lips in turns.
Was there even an excuse for that?
No, they have themselves away already. No excuse could wash away what they saw.
He looked at the shocked crew. One of them was definitely gay, Eunwoo; one of them was not homophobic, Jaeho and one of them already knew about his relationship with the twins, Taiha.
As for the other two... There wasn’t disgust but...
He watched the shock and disappointment in Doha’s eyes and gulped once more.
Why was she looking like that?
Say something. Say something and let me know your thoughts.
Dongwoo gulped.
Though Dooshik was shocked, he didn’t seem to be bothered at all. Rather, he looked like he was excited at this arrangement.
Badum!
Why were they still silent?
Dongwoo clutched Seojin but did not peel his eyes away from them.
Seojin looked down at Dongwoo and noticed he was breaking out in cold sweat just from the fact they had been caught red-handed.
Things wouldn’t end well if he got so anxious and scared because of this.
He covered Dongwoo’s eyes and looked at them at the door.
"Come in already."
This broke the awkward and stiffening silence.
They walked in.
Taiha sighed and closed the door.
"To think this is how you’d expose yourself." He said and turned to Doha.
He placed his hand on her head and she pursed her lips. Her eyes were still steady on Dongwoo but Dongwoo’s eyes were closed.
"Hey, are you okay?" Taiha asked his niece, and she nodded, but everyone could see she wasn’t okay.
Why was she like that? They couldn’t tell but if they were to guess, it was that she had a little crush on one of them and was sad to see that she would never be able to express her feelings ever.
"I’m fine." She said and smiled, shining her teeth widely and trying to hide the sadness that was leaking from her eyes. "Dongwoo Oppa, I’m so happy for you. For real. You’ve got two strong Oppas taking care of you. We don’t have to worry anymore, right?" She turned to Dooshik who nodded.
"Yeah. I knew they were protecting him otherwise but didn’t think of it like this. In any case, I have nothing against it." He said and smiled. "After all, there’s no one they take care of more than you."
"Well, I suspected as much!" Jaeho said, placing his hands behind his head carefreely.
"No, you didn’t." Eunwoo said but Jaeho pouted and looked away. "Anyway, we don’t have anything against it. I especially don’t. And even if we did, it’s not our business." He shrugged. "You’re free to like whoever you like and be with whomever you want to be with."
"Don’t worry, Oppa. Your secret is safe with us." She said and Dooshik asked,
"It is?"
Doha smacked the back of his head and he rephrased his words.
"It is."
Taiha sighed.
He was glad they spoke for themselves and they all waited for Dongwoo to respond.
Dongwoo held Seojin’s hand that was covering his eyes, but he had no intention of pulling his hand down.
He smiled.
"I think I really... Hit the jackpot this year." He said, tears slipping down from beneath Seojin’s hand. "I met so many nice people. I met so many great people. I met... So many." He said, the tears rushing down.
He was happy.
He was so happy that he couldn’t stop himself from crying but he did not want them to see it. He didn’t want them to see his tears, even if it was happy tears.
"Hyung," Seojun called. "No matter how many misfortunes you face in life, there will come a time when it will all turn into happiness. You will meet great people. You will find peace. So long as you don’t give up halfway, it will all come to you, and luckily, you never gave up. You deserve this happiness."
Dongwoo nodded.
"Yes, I did." He sniffed. "And I’m going to keep this happiness. I’m going to stay by you all and I won’t let anyone tear me away from you."
"I don’t know what happened but that’s the spirit!" Jaeho said. "You gotta toughen up, boss. Don’t let the bad guys get a good laugh."
"We’ll be here to help you, Oppa." Doha said, cheerfully. "We’ll support and stand by your side. No one can touch you on our watch."
"Thank you for your support."
"Whew!" Taiha exclaimed and they turned to him.
"Ahjusshi, did you... Did you know about this all along?" Doha asked and Taiha clicked his tongue.
"Is that important right now?" He asked. "Let sleeping dogs lie, okay?"
"He definitely knew." Jaeho said and they nodded.
There was no hiding it.
Minwoo helped clean the tears off Dongwoo’s face.
"There." He said, smiling at him and ruffling his hair. "All better."
The doctor returned and seeing the full room, he blinked.
"Oh, more guests?" He approached. "Seems you’re well loved." He stated and Dongwoo’s face flushed a little bit.
Well-loved, huh? In the past, he never thought he would hear such a remark.
He lived one hellish life.
This must be his reward for persevering a lot. He was glad he did not give up halfway.
The doctor said Dongwoo was free to go, but before leaving, he turned to Minwoo and gave him a knowing look as if reminding him of his previous suggestion.
Minwoo nodded and saw the doctor out the door.
"Since there’s nothing seriously wrong with Oppa, why don’t we all go out for dinner?" Doha suggested.
"Yeah, good idea. I’m starving." Jaeho added.
"Really? Are you guys thinking of food at a time like this?" Dooshik asked and they turned to him with a frown.
"What? You wanna say you’re not hungry? We came here directly from the company, you know." Jaeho asked and Doha placed her hands on her waist.
"You’re usually hyped about having group dinner. Are you trying to act mature all of a sudden?" They both attacked him and he cleared his throat.
"I take back my words." He said and Eunwoo laughed.
They pushed him to a corner.
"Well, group dinner sounds good." Minwoo said and turned to Dongwoo. "Wanna eat out with us?"
"I guess," Dongwoo answered, getting up to his feet with Seojun’s help. "I am hungry." He looked at Seojin. "Let’s eat with them."
"Sure, Hyung. It’ll probably make you feel better to be around more people, right?" He smiled and though his words insinuated something, Dongwoo could not get what it was as his attention was driven to Taiha.
"You kids have fun. My little girl wants to see her daddy so I’m going home first." He said and they nodded. "And kiddo, don’t think too much. And don’t let these kids make you drink more than you should. In fact, you shouldn’t drink at all."
Dongwoo smiled awkwardly.
"I’m really fine, Sunbae." He said but Taiha was still worried for him nonetheless.
This wasn’t the first time he was fainting. He needed to be careful.
"Say Hi to Ahjuma for me." Doha said and Taiha nodded.
"By the way, I was wondering..." Dooshik suddenly said and caught everyone’s attention. "...who made the first move?"
(Ahjusshi means uncle and ahjuma means aunty)
