Chapter 240: The gaze of a predator

"Let’s take a break!" Taiha announced and everyone finally let out a breath of relief.

Just as the concept entailed, ’Adonis’ the twins were meant to look completely sexual. They were shirtless with lipstick stains on their lips, smearing down to their cheek as well.

Seojin had his belt unbuckled and his zipper half done, showcasing the brand’s underwear logo. That was all part of the plan.

"Ugh, I thought I was gonna burn." One girl from the crew said. "They look so hot that the entire place got hot as well."

"I’d say. I made eye contact with one of the stars and I felt my entire body burn up. That sort of gaze, *sighh* it’s enough to make a girl melt."

"Shoo, shoo, stop fawning." Doha chased them away and they laughed. "Grab your lunch while you still can."

"Kiddo, good work." Taiha said, placing his hand on Dongwoo’s shoulder. "Go grab your lunch."

"Alright."

Dongwoo nodded and was just about to leave when Song Haijin stepped forward with her light costume still strapped around her like a Greek goddess.

"Wait a minute." She said, and they both turned to her. This, of course, attracted all ears that were on guard against her. "I want to see the pictures."

Dongwoo looked at Taiha and then at her. She was staring at him with her hand stretched.

She wiggled her fingers and said,

"Come on. Show me the pictures." She said, and Dongwoo turned to nod at Eunwoo who picked up the tablet where all pictures were automatically uploaded as soon as he took a shot.

Eunwoo handed the tablet to Song Haijin and she stared at the pictures.

Her eyebrows furrowed and then she swiped. She kept swiping and getting even more displeased.

"Is there a problem?" Taiha asked and she raised her head, showcasing a forced smile.

"Director, these pictures..."

"Hm? What about them?" He asked but Song Haijin couldn’t think of a query.

She had thought that she would be able to pick up one flaw, at least, but the pictures were all so good. The angle and lighting were all perfect. He captured their expressions and even the look of seduction in their eyes, that she could not nitpick at all.

How was he so good?

"They’re brilliant." She said. "Almost too brilliant."

"Haha, I’m glad you like them." Taiha proudly said. "This kid’s a natural. I’m glad you’re satisfied with his work."

"Haha, yes." She handed Eunwoo back the tablet while looking at Dongwoo. "Very talented. So, what’s the secret?"

"I just... Work very hard." Dongwoo said, though feeling a little uncomfortable with the way she was staring at him.

That gaze of a predator... An angry predator at that. He couldn’t shake the feeling that she wanted to end him.

"Then, since it’s all done. Please, rest a bit while you have your lunch. We still have to go over other concepts."

"Yes, yes." She clasped her hands together. "I’ll make sure to do well and work hard, just as much as our little photographer is."

Dongwoo ate his food in silence, not that he had anyone to talk to.

He was alone in his office, eating the freshly cooked kimchi and rice that had been sent to him. But his mind wasn’t there as he was trying to figure out exactly why Song Haijin would hold hostility towards him.

He wasn’t a model so why did it look like she was taking him as a competitor?

Wait...

He paused and then sighed.

"Even if she likes them, she doesn’t have to see me as a competitor since I’m a guy. There’s no way she would immediately conclude that I am gay unless someone told..." His eyes widened and the spoon fell from his hand.

Yes, unless someone told her, and that someone could very much be Shinwoo.

His hand started to tremble and he clutched it.

’No, don’t overthink it. Don’t overthink it, Dongwoo. It’s not a necessity that he would tell her about my sexuality.’

His finger dug into his hand without even realizing it. They got so deep that he bruised himself.

He probably would’ve caused blood to flow if he hadn’t heard the knock on the door.

He raised his head to the door and gasped, finally able to catch his breath.

He had been unconsciously holding his breath and only came to realize it after the knock on the door.

"Come... Come in." He said, brushing his hair back.

He bent down to pick up the spoon, only to raise his head and see Shinwoo standing at his door.

Startled, he pushed back on his chair. And since it was a rolling chair, the chair rolled back till it hit the glass wall.

"Boss, are you okay?" That was Jaeho’s voice and Dongwoo blinked.

It wasn’t Shinwoo. It was Jaeho. How did he make such a mistake?

He brushed his face with his palm. He was sweaty and out of sorts.

He has to get himself together.

"Boss, are you okay? You look like a wreck." Jaeho said, seeing how he had cold sweat on his forehead and running down his neck.

"Ah, am I?" He clenched his fists. "It’s probably just the heat getting to me." He said, and Jaeho glanced at the air conditioner that was working perfectly and making the office cool.

Dongwoo noticed his lie didn’t go well and said,

"Well, I must just be nervous. It’s nothing."

"Well, I’ll understand if you’re nervous." Jaeho said and dropped the files on his desk. "After all, that Song Haijin looks like she’s out to get you. You got any beef with her?"

Dongwoo shook his head.

"Well, still be careful. She might just bring up unnecessary drama just to spite you." Jaeho said. "It’s my first day here and there’s already this sort of drama. I don’t mind watching drama but not when it involves my trustee master," he bowed his head. "...so be careful."

"Yeah, I will." Dongwoo said and glanced down at the finger bruise on his hand.

He felt it throbbing.

Song Haijin wasn’t the one he was weary of. Rather, it was the guy who was always going around with her.

He smiled, and said,

"I’ll be careful so don’t worry."

Lunch break was over and Dongwoo, after succeeding in calming himself down, walked out of his office and went to the studio, only to find Song Haijin kissing Seojin’s neck.

His eyes widened but more than that, he felt a sudden surge of anger. What did she think she was doing?
