Chapter 311: A Kiss, A Promise, A Spirit ( 311 )

Hazuki’s eyes widened.

"Ellyn!!?"

He dropped to his knees, scooping her into his arms, shaking slightly.

"Look what you’ve done..." he muttered. "Ugh... Nooo!! My bride!! My future bride!!"

Ridan floated close, staring with a deadpan look.

Smack!

Hazuki’s head jerked forward as Ridan slapped the back of his skull.

"Dumbass!" Ridan snapped. "She was protected by a high-level barrier, you moron! Look around—there’s no meteor impact near her! She passed out from mana depletion!!"

Hazuki blinked. Then slowly looked at the completely untouched zone where Ellyn lay, surrounded by the scorched corpses of monsters—but not a single meteor mark.

"Oh..."

He looked down at her again, this time full of relief.

"Ellyn..." he whispered, and gently pulled her into a hug. "You idiot... What are you even doing here..."

Ridan stared at the pair and smirked.

"Oi, Lolizuki!"

Hazuki raised his head, still hugging her.

"What now...?"

Ridan didn’t reply. Instead, he floated right into Hazuki.

Spirit Link: Activate.

"Channel your damn mana, idiot."

"...Why?"

"We’re healing her."

"Wait wait—so she IS injured!?"

"No dumbass!!" Ridan barked. "She fought a lot of high-tier monsters. Her mana’s dry, her body’s strained—that’s why she passed out! You should be thanking me for nuking the whole area and saving her in time!"

"Ah... that makes sense." Hazuki looked down at her, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek. "She looks exhausted..."

Ridan, from inside his body, muttered, "...Channeling ancient healing magic now."

A soft white aura surrounded Hazuki’s hand as he held it over Ellyn’s chest. A warmth spread through her body. The faint tension in her fingers slowly relaxed.

Her color returned.

"Alright. Wounds are fixed. Just one last thing..."

"...What now?" Hazuki asked.

"Channel a little mana into her. Just a bit. Gotta refill the tank."

"Sure. How do I—"

"Kiss her."

"EHHHHHHHHH!?" Hazuki nearly dropped her. "You pervert!! You just wanted to say that!"

"That’s how it work you stupid idiot!"

"...oh...okay..." Hazuki whispered, his face already turning red.

"Yeah, yeah. Save the blushing. Now do it. We don’t have time for your honor-code hesitation."

Hazuki leaned in slowly, his lips barely brushing hers.

A gentle pink glow surrounded the two of them.

And then—a soft pulse.

Mana flowed from Hazuki to her like a ripple of warmth, and her fingers twitched in response.

Ridan floated out of Hazuki’s body, grinning ear to ear.

"Hehehe~ that counts as a kiss, you know. Bet your heart skipped a beat."

"Shut up, Ridan."

"Loli Loli Loli!!" Ridan spun in the air like a drunk helicopter, bursting out of Hazuki’s body. "We got a live one, folks!!"

Hazuki flinched. "Oi, what now—!?"

In an instant—pop!

Ridan was no longer floating casually.

He wore a pristine police uniform.

Police cap tilted like some smug delinquent.

A shiny badge that read: Loli Division

And a black baton spinning in his glowing hand.

"Hold it right there, you PERVERT!!" he barked, pointing the baton like a holy relic of justice.

Hazuki froze in mid-reach, holding Ellyn carefully in his arms.

"Wha—wait, what is this bit now!?"

"You are under arrest for suspicious acts involving unconscious young ladies!" Ridan’s eyes gleamed. "Violation 002: ’Unsupervised Mana Transfer Via Lip Contact Without Hero License!’"

"I SWEAR IT WAS FOR MAGIC!!" Hazuki shouted.

"Oh, that’s what they all say," Ridan smirked, tapping the baton against his palm.

"Oi!!! You told me to do it!! YOU WERE IN MY BODY!!"

"That’s what they all say too." Ridan adjusted his fake sunglasses. "Now turn around and put your hands behind your head—before I call the Loli Defense Bureau."

Hazuki’s face twitched. "You’re just making that up!!"

A pause.

Then Ridan dropped the act with a cheeky snort and floated away, spinning in the air lazily again.

"Man, I needed that," he grinned. "Been ages since I pulled the police routine."

Hazuki sighed, looking down at Ellyn’s now peaceful sleeping face.

"...And people say I’m the crazy one."

"You’re crazy!!" Ridan cackled, spinning midair like a top possessed. "Absolutely off your rocker!"

He zipped in loops above Hazuki’s head.

"That’s why everyone calls you the Crazy Heelsman!!"

"Ugh!! Stop it!!" Hazuki hissed, trying not to shout while still holding Ellyn in his arms.

But Ridan was in full gremlin mode now.

"Loli!! Loli!! Pervert!! Loli-lover!!"

He stuck out his tongue, eyes gleaming with devilish delight.

Hazuki’s temple twitched.

"Keep that up, and I’m tossing your sword into the next river."

"You wouldn’t dare," Ridan narrowed his eyes.

"Oh? Try me, you floating lawsuit."

Ridan grinned and whispered like a ghost, "Loooooolizukiiiiii~"

He looked down at Ellyn—peaceful, sleeping, cheeks lightly flushed from mana drain.

Ridan floated above him holding an invisible mic.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing a legendary case of magical CPR... also known as: Cowardly Prince Steals Sleeping Loli’s First Kiss—Episode 1!"

Ellyn slowly opened her eyes.

And the first thing she saw was Hazuki.

Her lips trembled, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Hazuki!!" she cried out suddenly.

Without hesitation, she threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly.

Sobbing hard, she pressed her face into his chest, trembling as if afraid he’d vanish again.

Hazuki froze, caught off guard by her sudden embrace.

Her small arms wrapped around him, trembling as her soft sobs muffled against his shirt.

Tears wet his front as Ellyn clung to him desperately, like someone frightened of losing him once more.

"Ha...Hazuki..." she hiccupped through her tears. "I thought... I wasn’t gonna see you again..."

Hazuki blinked, then slowly raised his arms and gently wrapped them around her.

"...You dummy," he murmured with a faint, reassuring smile. "You should’ve stayed in the capital..."

"But... but they took me!!" she sniffled louder, still sobbing. "They tried to teleport me somewhere! I don’t know where I was! The monsters... the heat... I– I fought so much... then I saw the sky raining stars... and... I thought..."

Hazuki’s expression shifted, the weight of realization sinking in.

So that meteor shower... really did save her?

"Tch. Ridan..." he muttered quietly.

In the background, Ridan’s smug voice echoed faintly, lounging in midair with an invisible martini glass in hand.

"Heh. Say thank you, you ungrateful lolicon," Ridan quipped.

Hazuki ignored him, focusing instead on the girl in his arms

He gently tightened his hold and whispered softly, "I’m glad you’re okay."

She continued to cry, clutching him tighter.

"I missed you," she managed between hiccups.

Hazuki nodded softly. "...Yeah. Me too."

The ring touched.

Their pinky promise rings—worn on each of their wedding fingers—glowed softly.

A gentle silver-pink aura shimmered around them, enveloping the two in a warm light.

Hazuki smiled.

Ellyn looked up at him, eyes wide.

And in her gaze, he was nothing short of a prince.

Handsome. Kind.

From above, Ridan floated down slowly and clicked his tongue.

"Both of you are weird. Enough of that mushy stuff," he smirked, lazily spinning midair.

"Mou~ You spoiled the mood!" Ellyn puffed her cheeks and pouted.

Hazuki blinked—then stared between the two of them.

"...Wait."

His voice dropped.

"You can... see Ridan?"

"Of course I—" Ellyn’s eyes went wide and she quickly clamped a hand over her mouth.

Hazuki slowly turned to look at her.

Staring.

Then stared at Ridan.

Then back at her.

"I didn’t know you could see him..." he said in disbelief.

"I thought only I could! People have been calling me crazy this whole time!!"

Ellyn giggled.

"But uncle~ Everyone already called you crazy before Ridan showed up."

"So how’d you end up in a place like this anyway?" Hazuki asked, rubbing the back of his head.

"Ridan said this zone’s dangerous—even for full parties."

Ellyn puffed her cheeks and crossed her arms.

"Mou~ Hazuki... I told you earlier, didn’t I?"

She glanced away.

"Someone I didn’t recognize showed up when I was at... um..."

She paused, eyes flicking up nervously.

"...At my house. Yeah. My house."

Hazuki narrowed his eyes a bit, clearly catching the weird pause.

"Uh-huh. Your house, huh?"

"Yep!" she nodded quickly, then clutched his arm and looked up with watery eyes.

"That guy used some weird magic and I got teleported! I don’t even know where this is! It was hot, and monsters kept attacking, and I didn’t have anyone to talk to except Syaria!"

"...Syaria?" Hazuki blinked.

"Who’s that?"

"My spirit friend!" she said with a big innocent smile.

"Like how Ridan sticks to you, Syaria stays with me!"

Ridan floated down beside Hazuki, arms crossed and eyeing Ellyn suspiciously.

"...She has a spirit? That’s not normal."

Hazuki blinked.

"Wait, so you’re saying you’ve got a spirit girl living in your necklace?"

"Mhm! She’s very pretty too. Way prettier than this weird ball spirit of yours," she said with a playful smirk toward Ridan.

"Oi! I am not a ball!" Ridan grumbled.

"And I was handsome back in the day, I’ll have you know!"

Hazuki glanced at Ellyn again.

There was something... off. Something she wasn’t saying.

But then again—

She’s alive. She’s safe.

And she’s hugging his arm like she’d never let go again.

"...Well," he muttered, "as long as you’re okay."

"I am now," Ellyn said softly.
