Iron Harvest: When Farming Becomes Conquest
Chapter 210 - 15: Because I am the First Knight

Chapter 210: Chapter 15: Because I am the First Knight

The camera shifted, and Green was really enjoying himself.

He had something to say as well.

"You won’t let me eat? That’s not going to happen!"

He had thick skin and was a total foodie.

...

Roman’s barbecue was authentic.

He had leveled up his cooking skills to level 2, turning into a walking cookbook.

Generally speaking, as long as one knows the recipe and follows the sequence, there shouldn’t be any mistakes.

And barbecue was a very common type.

He ground pepper, cumin, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon into powder, using pepper as the main ingredient, to create the barbecue seasoning.

Garlic and tender ginger were also crushed into a paste to serve as condiments.

Chicken wings, lamb skewers, beef skewers, pork belly skewers, onions, mushrooms, leeks, trout, and sturgeon were all skewered on wooden sticks.

A barbecue grill was set up using steel, with charcoal placed underneath, igniting the charcoal and causing wisps of smoke to rise.

A group of people busied themselves for most of the afternoon, and it wasn’t until the evening that they officially began barbecuing.

The location was on the grass next to the manor.

Roman sprinkled the spices and brushed lard on the ingredients to lock in moisture and ensure a tender texture.

Soon, the distinctive rich aroma of barbecue began to spread over the grass.

The rich meat aroma, fragrant smell, and charcoal smoke mingled in mid-air, creating a wonderful chemical reaction that evoked a strong sense of earthly life.

The mere smell was enough to make mouths water and bellies growl, let alone now when everyone was hungry.

Roman was the first to finish grilling about a dozen lamb skewers, which he handed out for everyone to taste.

When word got out that Roman was hosting a barbecue at the manor,

Jet, Kao, Nillie, and Nathan all came over to help.

Seth and Jimmy were hosting a celebration elsewhere, so they couldn’t leave.

"How does it taste?"

"Delicious!" Kao was the first to offer praise, but he wasn’t very cultured.

"Delicious, delicious!" Nathan was another uncultured one.

"A worldly delicacy!" Dick exclaimed.

"There’s a lot of seafood in the ocean, and I think it’s great for barbecue," Nillie also laughed.

Roman thought Nillie had good taste; seafood barbecue was indeed very good.

Gwivelle, holding a lamb skewer, ran off saying, "I’m going to fetch Grandpa Galin."

Aaron quietly reached for a second lamb skewer.

Green nonchalantly said, "All these spices, and that’s it?"

But his actions were quicker than Aaron’s.

However, he wasn’t lying, as just the pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon alone, at three or four pounds, were worth a couple of gold coins, which even the lower nobles couldn’t afford to use like this.

The aroma was entirely piled up with spices.

So Roman said, "If you’re so capable, go directly and eat the spices!"

"If you sprinkle the spices on the skewers, then I’ll eat," Green shamelessly responded.

Roman was also quite helpless about his thick skin.

Galin came over a bit unwillingly, feeling it needless for Gwivelle to call him over, but when he saw the beer and smelled the barbecue, he immediately couldn’t move.

What a top-level indulgence!

Roman was quite fast at barbecuing, with many skewers lined up in a row.

Learning to barbecue was easy.

If Roman couldn’t attend to it, they could do it themselves, but because it was hard to control the heat, they ended up burning some wooden skewers.

The manor’s kitchen had plenty of ingredients, normally, they would skewer whatever they felt like eating.

Gwivelle and Sanna even skewered apples, strawberries, and cherries.

Then they eagerly watched Roman.

Roman frowned at first, but soon relaxed.

He melted maltose in an iron pot and made them candied haws to eat.

He also sent some freshly grilled meat skewers to Yaki, Ruto, and Jimmy among others.

...

Tonight.

The moonlight was bright, and the stars were brilliant.

This barbecue lasted three or four hours, emptying a whole barrel of beer.

Roman and the others enjoyed the cool evening with barbecue and drinks.

After eating, everyone lay down on the grass, casually chatting.

The soft, tender green grass was beneath them, they stared at the star-filled sky, and a gentle evening breeze blew.

Nillie was fixing Sanna and Gwivelle’s hair, teaching them how to braid.

Nillie was the prettiest person in the land, strong in ability, gentle yet firm in character, especially with her soft blue hair that one could never tire of touching.

Nathan sat alone in a corner, silently reminiscing about his wife far away.

Galin and Jet were still drinking with Dick, all somewhat tipsy.

Aaron was reserved, but Green was openly flamboyant.

The two were chatting away, strategizing military operations, quickly drawing the attention of the Three Mountaineers.

"Cavalry charge on the right wing, right here! I’ll have you beaten and in retreat!" Green traced a path on the grass.

"You can’t charge."

"Why?"

"Because there’s a swamp on the right, you can’t cross it, and there’s a hillside on the left, but my left is guarded by Heavy Infantry."

"My cavalry are all Conquest Knights, charging through water and mud is nothing to them!"

"Alright, you’ve been routed at the front."

"Why?"

"Because I have a Super Long Spear formation."

"Well then, I was wrong. My front line is the Shield Guard Army of the Divine Mysterious Empire, each starting as a Third Rank combat knight."

"That’s legendary!"

"What legend, Big Jet, Old Galin, tell them if the Shield Guard Army is real or not."

The Three Mountaineers were initially engrossed.

Until the conversation got more ridiculous—they kept switching from cavalry to Conquest Knights, from infantry to Super Long Spear formations, and then the infantry to the Shield Guard Army. It seemed dragons would be next—they all rolled their eyes.

What’s the difference between this and children bickering?

Yet Jet nodded and said, "The King of Divine Mystery has a Court Guard dedicated to his safety, and their shields are made of Ao Steel."

"What’s Ao Steel?"

Galin explained, "It’s an extraordinary alloy, not just steel, composed of gold, silver, copper, and Magic Stones, capable of suppressing magical forces, but the forging technique was lost hundreds of years ago."

Every knowledgeable Senior Knight knew about this.

"So, it can’t be forged now?"

"Supposedly, now the Court Guard uses gear from hundreds of years ago, but it resists time well; it could last another two hundred years."

"Did you hear that? I’ve won this battle!" Green was smug.

"Ah, right, right."

"Don’t be unsportive, even without the Shield Guard Army, you’re still no match for me."

"Why?" It was Aaron’s turn.

"Because I am the First Knight in history!!" Green suddenly stood up and yelled.

"Alone! In the future, I could defeat an entire army! No one can stop me!" He punched fiercely towards the sky, swearing his bold statement.

Roman lay on the grass sideways, legs crossed, elbow supporting his head, chewing on a grass stalk.

He had drunk quite a bit and was both drunk and sleepy.

His spirit floated high in the sky while his body chased on the ground.

He felt extremely uncomfortable.

Hearing that, he opened his eyes on the spot, plucked some muddy grass, and angrily threw it at Green.

"Why are you shouting so loudly!!"

"Can’t the First Knight speak up?!" Green glared at Roman.

"I’m still the First Emperor! Dare you speak to me like that!" Roman also erupted.

"Oh! The Emperor is powerful! The Emperor is awesome! Aaron! Pour our Emperor some wine! Use a gold cup!"

Aaron quickly got up, ran to the table, and scooped up a beer.

"Emperor, your gold cup of wine is here! Please, my lord, drink!"

Roman was also generous with his words, "Good! Very good! That’s sharp! Tell me anything you want in the future, and I’ll grant you a higher title than that buffoon Green’s First Knight—sounds ten thousand times better!"

"All I want is to ring a bell for you!"

"Then I’ll get you several large bells, starting with a gold one for you to ring in the morning, then a silver one for noon, and another huge gold bell for the evening! Don’t worry! We’ll have money! I’ll get anything you want!"

"Then I’ll ring them till I die!"

"Good, good! We’ll die together!"

"What about me? Don’t leave me behind!"

"You kid, go away, I’ve got Aaron, that’s enough, do whatever you want."

"You look down on me as the First Knight?! I will become the strongest knight! I will defeat all armies! I will defeat all legends! I want everyone! To know my name!!"

"Good! Ambitious! Aaron, let’s toast to our First Knight!"

"First Knight, sir! You work hard!" Aaron shouted at Green, "A toast to you! Hey... where’s my cup?"

"Who needs a cup! I’ll bring the whole barrel, let’s drink our fill!"

"Wait... I need to take a leak."

"Me too..."

"Roman! Aaron! Let’s see who can pee the farthest!"

Nathan was dumbfounded, the Three Mountaineers exchanged looks, feeling the absurdity.
