Chapter 933: 932: Two Great Old Demons Have Also Arrived

The seventy-two great demons harvested lives with incredible speed, almost as if they were reaping dried and decayed wood, and apart from the Sect Leader Conor Hopkins and Sam Hart, who showed some resistance, no one else stood a chance against the demons.

Indeed, the great demons had evolved. You see, Jonah Burch was merely an ordinary member of the Tiger Clan, but now he had sprouted the most noble of wings, so it stood to reason that the other demons had similarly transformed. Although they were still at the level of Second-Level Earth Immortals, they had transcended their rank, reaching the true pinnacle of power.

In contrast, the people in the courtyard below were just a disorganised mob. Even James Hart wasn’t a renowned figure, lacking any notable ranking among Earth Immortals. How could they possibly withstand the slaughter of the seventy-two great demons?

Yusuf Zuck didn’t make a move; he was merely testing the capabilities of the great demons, and besides, these lesser figures weren’t worth his intervention.

However, had James Hart claimed that the Sacred Gate was sending reinforcements?

The Sacred Gate, the grandest of all, the faction of human soul guides and leaders that had stood unshakable for countless eons.

Yusuf Zuck was aware that he had already offended everyone in this world, so he didn’t mind provoking the Sacred Gate. In fact, he relished the prospect of Sacred Gate experts arriving, eager to test his own Star-Pushing Power.

Regrettably, even as the seventy-two great demons had slaughtered everyone in several courtyards, no mighty figures from the Sacred Gate appeared. Instead, there were many who, hearing the commotion, came to gawk. These onlookers stood at a distance, their scalps tingling as they watched the great demons slaughter lives and clean up the battlefield.

"Yusuf Zuck, we still have seven people on the distant Hao Yue Star, including Sara, Xiao Wei, Elder Ye, Luciano, Alfredo Meskill, Xiao Feng, and Jing Cheng, all currently at The Hao Yue Star True One Sect, and being watched by the Heaven and Earth Mystical Door. Now that we have slaughtered the people of Heaven and Earth Mystical Door here, it’s very likely they might make a move against our people!" Devin King transmitted his concern through Divine Sense.

"What?" Yusuf Zuck was shocked. Sara and the others were on Hao Yue Star? Being watched?

"But there’s no need to worry. Jing Cheng is currently a Second Level Earth Immortal with very strong means at his disposal, and since the experts of Heaven and Earth Mystical Door have all come to Spirit City, leaving behind only one or two, having Jing Cheng there shouldn’t pose too much danger," Devin King assured him.

"Come here!" Yusuf Zuck suddenly shouted, "No need to clean up the battlefield any longer. Everyone, return to your positions immediately!" Yusuf Zuck urged urgently.

"Understood!" The seventy-two great demons flew to Yusuf Zuck’s side, brimming with killing intent.

"From this moment on, you will follow Devin King’s commands to rescue my kin. Make no mistakes and return swiftly!" Having said this, Yusuf Zuck picked up Louise Garrett and left.

However, once he returned to Skeward Tower, another Yusuf Zuck emerged from within and quickly turned invisible, disguising himself and pursuing Devin King and the group of great demons.

He had to use his clone to follow them; otherwise, he wouldn’t be at ease.

Of course, the clone traveled secretly, hiding and following invisibly. He was not yet ready to let others know that he had the ability to create clones.

Moreover, he had discovered another function of his nine clones; the clones could summon the original, and the original could summon the clones.

Indeed, there was a close connection between the clones and the original, for the clone was, in fact, Yusuf Zuck himself. Hence, the clone could summon the original, and vice versa.

For instance, if a clone reached Hao Yue Star and found itself outmatched by the locals, it could use the summoning technique to call the original there, and the other clones could be summoned as well.

This equated to a form of teleportation, even more advanced than the standard kind.

...

Spirit City was fraught with unrest that night. The news of Bryson Campbell’s nighttime killings at Skeward Tower spread instantly throughout the world, and most notably, Campbell had not only killed the cultivators from Hao Yue Star but had also slain the Sacred Gate’s emissary and eight external executioners from the Sacred Gate.

The Sacred Gate, indeed. Bryson Campbell had offended yet another power, so everyone deemed Campbell either insane or a true demon.

...

North of Ling City lay a mountain range, called the Sacred Mountain, a place of pilgrimage in the world where the Holy Sect was situated.

This Holy Sect, mysterious and towering, was a colossal force, always at the forefront of the ten major human powers. The alliance leader of every hero’s assembly was also from the Holy Sect.

Although the top chair was elected publicly, the election always ended up appointing someone from the Holy Sect, for who else would dare to become the leader of human cultivators if not them?

At this moment, within the Sacred Gate Political Hall, a teacup was smashed to the ground, and one person roared, "Lawlessness, utter lawlessness!"

This was an elder with green streaks in his beard, quivering with anger, his face turning purple. His name was Sam Hart, father to the patroller Sam Hartson and also one of the Holy Sect’s Guest Elders.

In the Holy Sect, the hierarchy was extremely strict, with different roles such as inner and outer executives, inner sect disciples and outer sect disciples, seed disciples, Saint Heirs, and Saint Ladies, layered one upon the other.

There were also several levels among the higher ranks, the outermost being the Guest Elders, followed by the Guest Elders, then the Elders, and beyond them, the Supreme Elders.

Guest Elders were akin to invited guests, acting out roles involving combat within the Holy Sect. If there were issues outside, Guest Elders would step in to resolve them.

Guest Elders were one step above, still playing a protective role but also serving as teachers within the Holy Sect, similar to university professors, instructing both the inner and outer sect disciples.

Elders were a team that decided on the affairs of the Holy Sect or the human cultivator alliance. The Elders could make proposals, which the Sect Leader would then finalize and issue commands, and so forth.

Supreme Elders were the venerated ancestors of the Holy Sect; they did not take part in anything, engaging only in cultivation at secret locations. Unless there was some great calamity or a matter of life and death, they would not make an appearance.

As a Guest Elder, Sam Hart was of a level comparable to a senior professor and an important figure within the Holy Sect, but now that his son had been killed, how could he not be enraged?

Of course, at this moment, he was also angry with the group of Elders because they did not advocate sending someone to Ling City to eliminate Bryson Campbell. As for their reasons? The group of Elders did not provide any to him, simply stating that the timing was not right.

Hence, Sam Hart was smashing teacups and stamping his feet in the Political Hall.

Fortunately, there were no Elders present; only a Deputy Sect Leader and other Guest Elders were there, not even the Sect Leader.

"Deputy Sect Leader Xu, is it because I’m not an Elder, that you ignore my son’s death? If an Elder’s son died, would we still just cower?" Sam Hart roared. The group of Elders had not stopped him from trying to save his son, but only he himself could go; no one else was allowed to intervene.

But where did he dare to go? Bryson Campbell’s Divine Skills were vast, and a Second Level Earth Immortal was just an ant to him. Going there wouldn’t save his son; it would instead risk his own life.

"Deputy Sect Leader Xu, there really is no choice in this matter," the Deputy Sect Leader Xu said with a bitter smile and a shake of his head. "Regarding the decision of the Elders and the opinions of the Supreme Elders, these are the highest directives. However, I want to tell you that the Sect Leader is not within the sect right now, and with other significant events happening recently, the group of Elders is too preoccupied to spare anyone, to the point where several Supreme Elders are not present in the sect either!"

"If we mobilize troops to Ling City now, our Holy Sect would certainly be vulnerable. Plus, I’ve just received news that the Demon Tribe’s first and second demons have already arrived in Ling City, and it’s highly possible they’ve infiltrated our Holy Sect. You know how powerful the Invisible Demon and the Versatile Demon are. So it’s not that we won’t rescue, it’s that we can’t leave."

"Moreover, the sect had already ordered not to provoke Bryson Campbell of Skeward Tower, yet why did your son still go and provoke him?"

"Of course, this vendetta is not to be ignored, but the time is not right. Just wait a bit longer, about twenty days or so, and then it’ll be possible."

"Both of the Demon Tribe’s elder demons have come?" Sam Hart was shocked, his face showing disbelief.
