Chapter 829: Chapter 828: Origin of the Gods
Khalil Schroeder never appeared, and Yusuf Zuck never found where Khalil Schroeder was hiding.
Of course, Yusuf Zuck was quite certain that Khalil Schroeder was more cunning than Demon Cultivators—more so than Zion Dillion—a true assassin and a supremely skilled killer.
When he hid, there were no traces to be found.
Yusuf Zuck eventually stopped worrying about him, commanding a large force of Demon Cultivators to march towards the Palmer Gate Sect.
A flag had been sketched during the march, issued by Ephraim Rocha, depicting a golden-trimmed triangular flag. On its front, it bore the character for ’Ron,’ representing Bryson Campbell, and on its reverse, an embroidered sword and bow crossed over each other, somewhat resembling a hammer and sickle.
This was the banner of their troop, also known as an army with a just cause.
Yusuf Zuck did not accompany the army to Palmer Gate Sect because, with the aid of the Demon Cultivators and Zion Dillion, the Palmer Gate Sect could not resist; he did not wish to witness the process of their annihilation, desiring only the outcome!
And he had another worry.
He worried that attacking Palmer Gate Sect with the Demon Cultivators might infuriate Dario Wolfe, who then might take his anger out on Mike.
Moreover, this was very likely to happen since Dario Wolfe, unable to quench his thirst with distant waters and powerless to assist his sect, would certainly vent his frustration on his own brothers upon receiving the news!
After standing quietly atop the cliff for nearly half an hour, Yusuf Zuck finally turned and looked northward.
With the Demon Cultivators handling Palmer Gate Sect, it was time for him to head to Capital City to retrieve Mike, Anais Dillon, and Uriel Arellano.
Although the dragon had emerged, bringing with it an intense danger that even made his heart palpitate, Yusuf Zuck had to go to Capital City. Even if he were to face the dragon, he might not lose, firstly because he possessed the Dragon-Hunting Sword and secondly, the Purple Water Drops!
These two treasures could contend with that dragon!
Of course, before heading to Capital City, he had to confirm one thing. Thus, after turning north, in a single step he arrived at a deep mountain in the east.
This mountain range, known as the ’Great Island Range,’ was the largest and longest mountain range in the Eastern Continent, filled with exotic treasures and many strange places.
When Yusuf Zuck stepped above the Great Island Range, he immediately descended, then burrowed into a Sky Reaching Ancient Tree. This ancient tree, thick enough to require about ten people to encircle it with their arms, had a hole that led downward.
Inside this tree hollow, someone had excavated an underground molten cave, quite expansive, akin to a basketball court, and even equipped with rice cisterns, water cisterns, beds, and other items.
Clearly, this was a secret human sanctuary!
"Who’s there!" As Yusuf Zuck approached the tree hollow, a sharp, feminine voice cried out, accompanied by the sound of a Treasure Sword being drawn.
Yusuf Zuck did not respond, but continued striding forward.
"Huh—" After a few steps, Yusuf Zuck and the person inside faced each other, the woman inside staring agape.
Before she hid here, she had confirmed that no one had followed her, and being underground, the Saint Dragon Continent’s Divine Sense could not probe this depth, so it was impossible for enemies to find her!
But still... still... the enemy had come, and it was that peerless monster.
Indeed, in her eyes, this young cultivator with only a Nascent Soul Cultivation Level was the peerless monster of the Saint Dragon Continent, deserving the title of the foremost among all. She had never seen nor heard of such a monster before in her life.
Truth be told, she was terrified. She had been hiding here for several days, recovering from her injuries. She had just begun to feel better when the enemy still found her, and she couldn’t understand how he had discovered her location!
"Hmm, your injuries have mostly healed; you’re looking pretty good!" Yusuf Zuck said with a smile as he scanned around the cave. It was truly a hidden paradise, a utopia unlike any other.
"You... I have neither grudge nor grievance against you. Why are you intent on annihilating me?" The woman asked through gritted teeth, trembling as she assumed Yusuf Zuck was here to kill her!
"Kill you?" Yusuf Zuck scoffed with disdain, "If I had wanted to kill you, did you think you could have escaped?"
"Hm?" The woman was taken aback. What did he mean by that? Was he not here to kill her?
"I have a few questions for you. Just answer them truthfully, and I won’t kill you today. Although we have some animosity, I don’t care anymore. I have grievances with everyone in this world—having one more or less makes no difference to me."
"What would Mr. Bryson Campbell like to ask me?" The woman remembered that others called him Mr. Bryson Campbell, which sounded like Bryson Campbell.
"Hmm, what brings you people from the Southern Continent here? Don’t tell me you’re here to establish a sect. I hope you won’t lie to me—I can control souls, after all!" Yusuf Zuck said coolly as he looked at her.
"Sir, we are here by the directive of our Sect Leader, seeking clues about the Origin of the Gods in the Central Continent!" The woman replied with respect, seemingly bearing no ill will towards Yusuf Zuck.
"Be more specific, more comprehensive," Yusuf Zuck nodded; the woman had not lied, as it seemed she knew that lying could potentially lead to death.
"Yes," the woman considered her words and said, "About ten years ago, an emissary from the largest sect of the Southern Continent ’Sect of Longevity’ was murdered, and he had been carrying a secret report. The content of the report suggested that there was a connection between the Central Continent and the Land of the Origin of the Gods, where Divine Artifacts, divine dwellings, and perhaps even secret scriptures for cultivation were hidden. Thus, the secret report was spread by someone with an agenda, and many leaders of the sects on the Southern Continent are aware of it now!"
"And, because the distance between the Central and Southern Continents is vast, even a Twelfth Level Earth Immortal would find it extremely challenging to cross the land of the Demon Cultivators."
"Wait a moment—you’re telling me that even a Twelfth Level Earth Immortal can’t cross? Are you joking?" Yusuf Zuck immediately interrupted.
"This humble woman does not lie; everything I say is true. The surroundings of your Central Continent are known as the wilderness, and in the wilderness, Demonic Beasts are rampant. Otherwise, why do you think that for so many years, no one has come here? This is because, firstly, there are many Demonic Beasts and, secondly, among them are supremely powerful beings."
"There are Demonic Beasts all around?" Yusuf Zuck pressed.
"Yes!" The woman nodded, "The so-called East Sea, Southern Wilds, Western Desolation, and Northern Clouds are all birthplaces of the Demon Cultivators. No one knows why, but these four wildernesses are exceptionally suitable for the survival and growth of the Demon Cultivators, and they have countless resources, thus their cultivation progresses very swiftly!"
"That’s why, even if one is a Twelfth Level Earth Immortal, they wouldn’t dare to easily step foot into the four great wildernesses. In our lands, these places are known as the Lands Where Gods Perish— even gods may not survive entering them!"
"Then how are you still alive?" Yusuf Zuck asked with a smile.
"The Palmer Gate is located at the northernmost tip of the Southern Continent, so we maintain secret contacts with the Demon Cultivators through smuggling channels!"
"Smuggling?" Yusuf Zuck couldn’t help but be dumbfounded. Smuggling with Demon Cultivators made sense, after all, demons need to eat, wear clothes, and also require salt and other material comforts.
"Yes, so we established a friendship with a powerful demon in the Southern region who then wrote us a letter. With his letter, we successfully crossed the vast mountains and waters to enter the Central Continent!"
"And what about the clues to the Origin of the Gods?" Yusuf Zuck paused to think before asking again.
"Rumors suggest that the Origin of the Gods might be here in the Central Continent or might have a secret connection with it. We have actually been here for over a year, and we’ve been secretly investigating ever since. However, we’ve discovered that this Central Continent doesn’t have any unusual or bizarre places. But, there is a place called the Dragon Gate Passage here that connects to some mundane world, so we highly suspect that this mundane world might be the Origin of the Gods!"
