Invisible Security Guard
Chapter 648 - 647: Zhang Sheng is a Gun

Chapter 648: Chapter 647: Zhang Sheng is a Gun

Nine days later, they arrived at the capital of the Saint Dragon Empire, an enormously majestic square-shaped city. Its walls stood several zhang high, with a total of eight gates. From afar, the city emanated an aura of solemnity and mystery, as if a vast restraining energy hovered above it.

This was Capital City, also known as Dragon City. According to legend, the Royal Family of the Saint Dragon Empire was of true dragon descent, and the dragon symbolized supreme power.

"Capital City is a place full of crouching tigers and hidden dragons, the epicenter of the world’s revival. There are countless masters, emerging endlessly. The most prosperous place in the world is also Capital City. I have lived here for nineteen years," Higgins King said with a hint of sentiment, as well as reverence. Of course, his eyes also gleamed with burning desire and ambition for conquest.

He wanted to sit at the very center of this city, on the Dragon Chair, looking down upon all beings.

Yusuf Zuck and Leah Erickson remained silent, for they both knew of Higgins King’s ambition.

"This return, I fear it will be as difficult to leave again as scaling the heavens. My elder brother will revoke my royal status before his death," Higgins King said indifferently.

"Then why should Prince bother to return? In Border State, you could have maintained an army and your influence. Wait for your brother’s death, then rise in rebellion under the pretext of ’Cleansing the Court and Eradicating Treachery’!"

"Cleansing the Court? Eradicating Treachery?"

"Haha, those six words are very good, very good indeed. You actually have the mind of a politician!" Higgins King laughed heartily. When the old Emperor dies and a young new Emperor ascends the throne, some of the senior courtiers will inevitably hold sway over the court, so rising in rebellion under the pretext of ’Cleansing the Court and Eradicating Treachery’ would indeed be a good reason.

"I was just talking nonsense." Yusuf Zuck shrugged. Without having tasted pork, has one never seen a pig run? He had read the history of Ming, didn’t Amir Perkins also rebel under that banner? The current Saint Dragon Empire greatly resembled the early Ming dynasty.

"But we cannot not return, the time is not yet right. What you spoke of, rebelling, is but the last step, and the chances of success are too slim. So, if a peaceful coup is possible, why resort to warfare?" Higgins King waved his whip, "Let’s go, I have returned!"

Yusuf Zuck pursed his lips. A peaceful coup? Higgins King sure had grand delusions. Higgins King may be a prince, but surely the Emperor wasn’t just twiddling his thumbs?

"I hope Higgins King isn’t an idiot, and that he has some powerful moves up his sleeve!" Yusuf Zuck silently prayed to himself.

When the three of them reached the city gate at a gallop, Leah Erickson directly threw a golden Waist Badge to the guard at the gate. Upon seeing the badge, the guard was shocked and immediately knelt on one knee, shouting the title of Higgins King!

Within the city, one must not dash about on horseback, but the entire city was part of the King Family’s domain, and so was this city. Hence, who would dare to question him riding in his own city?

Stirring up a cloud of dust, the trio galloped through the city gates on their steeds.

This was one of the eight gates, the North Gate, and the street on both sides was full of various vendors, bustling with activity. Shops lined the street, offering all sorts of things like snacks, pawnshops, tailors, apothecaries, and more, one after another.

This was genuine prosperity, with a particularly large number of people on the streets.

It was the political hub of the entire Mainland and the most populous locale, making it the most yearned-for place under heaven.

Yusuf Zuck, visiting Capital City for the first time, charged through on his steed, unaware of how many stalls he knocked over or how many children he frightened to tears. In short, Yusuf Zuck had arrived here barging and charging straight ahead.

He relished this sensation, enjoying the fact that wherever he went, he moved unimpeded!

At an intersection, Leah Erickson turned right without saying where he was headed, whereas Yusuf Zuck received a piece of black cloth. Higgins King ordered him to cover his face. Yusuf Zuck didn’t understand the reason but complied, continuing to follow closely behind Higgins King in a breakneck ride until they reached a residence half an hour later, which bore the sign "Higgins King Royal Palace"!

Although exiled to Border State, Higgins King still had his estate in the capital, which the Emperor would not reclaim. Higgins King would stay there upon his return to the city!

However, there were not many people in the mansion, just a limping old man and an old maid. On the outside, there were Royal Guards clad in Armor. As Higgins King dismounted, the commander of the guards immediately knelt on one knee, welcoming Higgins King and declaring that they would be responsible for his safety in the capital!

Yusuf Zuck watched Higgins King with great interest. These soldiers in Armor were clearly sent by the Emperor, not to protect the Higgins King, but to keep an eye on him, under the guise of protection. No one could argue otherwise!

"Fine." Higgins King hadn’t rebelled after all, and seemed to have expected this, striding directly into the Royal Palace.

The estate was as splendid as one could expect, with eight entrances and eight exits. The courtyard was deserted, lacking liveliness, but it boasted luxurious decorations and magnificent scenery!

Leah Erickson returned; he had gone to report to the Royal Family’s offices. Since Higgins King was entering the Capital City, it was compulsory to report to the Royal Family, who would then inform the Emperor.

The so-called Royal Family’s offices served as the legal department within the Royal Family, overseeing all relatives of the Royal Family; after all, others couldn’t manage the Royal Family, so the office had to!

"Prince, your letter has been delivered to Mr. Liu through someone, but there’s been no response from inside yet. Also, it’s just a matter of days for the Emperor now. Mr. Liu has been rallying the Courtiers recently, but only five have pledged loyalty. The rest are noncommittal, and there’s been no movements from the Saint Dragon Pavilion. However, it is said that there have been some accidents in the secular world!" Leah Erickson reported all the news he had gathered to Higgins King without hiding anything from Yusuf Zuck.

When Yusuf Zuck heard Leah Erickson mention the secular world, he couldn’t help being deeply stirred. Indeed, the people here had secular world connections.

"The affairs of the secular world are for the Saint Dragon Pavilion to deal with, but what kind of accidents could happen there?" Higgins King asked curiously.

"I don’t know, the news is tightly controlled," Leah Erickson replied, shaking his head.

"Then, continue to contact Mr. Liu. Yusuf, you jump over the west wall and find out if there’s any scoop in the Capital City; familiarize yourself with the city’s streets and alleys. And remember, don’t let the guards outside see your face. You must return before dark; there’s an important task for you!" Higgins King suddenly stopped and said.

"What about your safety, Prince?" Yusuf Zuck asked, looking at Higgins King.

"Ha, no one dares to raise a hand against me in this residence. Go, and witness the bustling Capital City!" Higgins King waved his hand.

"Understood." Yusuf Zuck nodded and then turned to leave. Higgins King seemed to have intentionally sent him away, but it suited him just fine.

As soon as Yusuf Zuck left, Higgins King turned to watch his back and said, "Send him out to kill someone tonight!"

Leah Erickson raised his eyebrows, somewhat puzzled by Higgins King’s intent.

"Some people, since they won’t be of use to me, might as well be killed."

"Does the Prince mean to assassinate important Courtiers?" Leah Erickson exclaimed in shock.

"Not important ones, Mr. Liu will give you the list. This will also be a good test for Yusuf," Higgins King said.

"Understood, but what if he gets killed or captured?" Leah Erickson asked worriedly.

Higgins King smiled faintly, "Then his two wives will be awarded to you!"

"He will expose us!" Leah Erickson exclaimed in shock.

"No, he won’t. His wives are in our Royal Palace. If he exposes me, then his wives will die too. So, he’s a good gun, and perhaps he will bring us unexpected gains!" Higgins King said confidently.
