Chapter 421: Chapter 420: The Little Demon of the Meskill Family
Qigong could enhance one’s constitution, prolong life, and increase strength.
Yusuf Zuck, with a belief that having many skills was beneficial, officially began delving into the practice of qigong.
He had just entered the gateway, everything was still novel and unknown. Of course, he also knew that his real ace was the mysterious Blood Beads. As long as the Blood Beads kept activating, all that inner strength and qigong could take a back seat.
However, cultivation did have its benefits. At least in the future when he interacted with practitioners of internal martial arts, he could disguise himself as one of their kind, thereby numbing his enemies or opponents.
As for the matter of extracting energy innately contained within objects, he could only dream about it. He couldn’t do it, and neither could anyone else.
Perhaps scientists could achieve that, but that was within the realm of science.
The sound of high heels approached, without guessing, Yusuf knew it was Ariel Higgins. He didn’t have enough time to jump out of the hot spring, so he just crouched down a bit further.
With Jerome Hart gone, Ariel knew nothing was amiss on Yusuf’s end, so she came over to check on him.
Seeing Yusuf crouching in the pool, Ariel simply smiled faintly. She wasn’t embarrassed or shy; to a woman of her caliber, sentiments between men and women probably meant little.
"Do you need anything to eat? Or perhaps something to drink?" Ariel sat down and asked.
Yusuf shook his head, "You go get some rest; I’ll be leaving once I’m done here!"
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Ariel’s inquiry was ambiguous, but Yusuf understood perfectly. She was referring to the Meskill family, to his current time of danger.
"No need, just take care of yourself," replied Yusuf, continuing to shake his head. He didn’t want Ariel to get involved; moreover, she didn’t have the qualifications to be involved.
"Well, there’s a business deal I’m working on, but I’m a bit short on funds. I was thinking of borrowing some from you. Of course, you could also join me as an investor. Whatever profit we make in the end, I’ll repay you according to our agreed-upon share!"
"I’ll lend it to you. How much do you need? Don’t worry about the profit share!" Yusuf responded promptly.
"Aren’t you going to ask what business I’m doing?" Ariel asked, curious.
"That’s why I’m lending you the money," Yusuf said with a smile. "No matter what business you’re in, you just need to pay me back when it’s time!"
"Alright, you’re calling it a loan, but I’ll still treat it as a joint investment. This deal is a sure win, as it’s a project we’ve obtained from a state-owned enterprise. It’s not illegal; it’s actually participating in national construction. I’m essentially like a... umm, a contractor, who’s secured a part of the project. The initial investment is mine, and once the project ends, we just need to collect the money from the local finance department."
"How much?" Yusuf asked without inquiring about the specifics of the project. But Ariel managing to secure a project from a state-owned enterprise showed that she was no simple woman; she must have employed numerous methods.
"Ten billion." Ariel mentioned the figure while observing Yusuf, afraid that he wouldn’t be able to provide such an amount.
"Transfer it with me at the bank tomorrow," Yusuf said without hesitation. Not to mention the deposits he already had, the dividends from the two major banks a few days ago amounted to more than ten billion, so lending to Ariel was no pressure.
Ariel exhaled a long breath upon hearing Yusuf’s words; he truly had the money and didn’t hesitate at all, nor did he ask anything further.
He really trusted her.
"I’ll make sure it’s a profitable deal for you, perhaps several times over."
"Just returning the principal is fine," Yusuf said with a smile.
Ariel didn’t say anything more but stood up, walked a few steps forward, then turned back and said, "Don’t leave tonight. I’ve prepared a room for you upstairs. It’ll save us the hassle of looking for you for the transfer tomorrow."
"Alright then, I’ll stay here," Yusuf nodded in agreement.
Ariel bowed lightly, then gracefully walked away in her high heels.
As soon as she left, Yusuf immediately jumped out, got dressed, and lamented the informality of their conversation—having remained crouched in the water throughout.
...
Meanwhile, in the capital, in the Meskill family’s quadrangle dwelling.
In the darkness of the night, a shadow-like figure suddenly leapt onto the three-meter-high courtyard wall. Light as a swallow, the figure made no sound upon landing on the wall.
The person was dressed in a night suit, with a masked face, and wearing a pair of athletic sneakers.
After a brief pause on the wall, the figure jumped into the courtyard!
However, the moment he jumped in, the sound of objects cutting through the air came, and five gleaming hidden weapons pierced the night sky, hurtling meteor-like toward him.
But the night walker seemed to be a cut above, easily dodging the five hidden weapons with a twist of his body and quick steps!
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~" Three people appeared simultaneously, surrounding him in a triangular formation, while the sound of dozens of footsteps emanated from the rear residence.
"Very good, high vigilance," the night walker suddenly pulled down his black face mask and smirked wickedly.
"Ninth Young Master!" Seeing the night walker remove his face mask, the three Truth-Insight adepts immediately cried out in surprise and then bowed to the Ninth Young Master simultaneously.
In the Meskill family, there is a prodigy nicknamed "Little Spirit Boy", also known as Donald Meskill. He is currently serving in the Dragon Group. At the age of twenty-one, Donald’s elder brother Lian is his sibling.
He ranks ninth among his generation in the family. Moreover, Donald had been learning from a peculiar master since his childhood; he entered the Realm of Apprenticeship at twelve, became a Grandmaster at fourteen, achieved Truth-Insight at nineteen, and now, at twenty-one, his realm has reached unimaginable heights.
In the eyes of Russ Trujillo, this was a true prodigious figure and one of the superpower members of the Dragon Group.
This person was arrogant, regarded everyone with contempt, and considered himself superior.
Because not only was he part of the Meskill family and the Dragon Group, but he also possessed formidable abilities and had a bizarre master.
All these factors combined gave him the capital to be arrogant.
"It’s Donald returning," the old Meskill patriarch appeared at the stone archway, smiling and waving at Donald Meskill.
"Grandfather, I have returned," Donald Meskill strode over to the patriarch’s side and bowed with clasped hands.
"Let’s talk inside the house," the Meskill patriarch was very pleased with Donald’s way of coming home. This was his way of testing the family’s defenses, always considering the family’s interests.
The old Meskill patriarch and Donald went to the main house, accompanied by several of his uncles and little Han.
Little Han’s real name was Alvin Escobar, the leader of the family’s sergeants, and he stayed with the Meskill family by his master’s command.
Indeed, Alvin Escobar had a master, who was the true guardian deity of the Meskill family.
"Grandfather, I just went to see Third Brother," after everyone was seated, Donald Meskill’s expression darkened. He had just come from the morgue where he saw his elder brother.
"Sigh." Upon hearing Donald Meskill’s words, everyone from the Meskill family sighed. Lian Meskill had died just like that.
"Where is he?" Donald Meskill asked sharply, his eyes flashing with a murderous intent, "Tonight, I shall take his life!"
Everyone looked towards the Meskill family patriarch. After a day’s preparation, all who could return had done so, and all who could be called upon were present. It could be said that the family had summoned all the sergeants they had recruited over the years, dozens of top-notch experts.
Therefore, the Meskill family could, in theory, launch an assassination tonight. Dozens against one, there seemed to be no reason they wouldn’t succeed.
Yet, the old Meskill patriarch had not given the order. Now that Donald Meskill was asking, everyone turned their gaze to him.
