Chapter 412: Chapter 411: Threat [10 Chapters]

The old gatekeeper walked into the main hall, and the Meskill Family patriarch along with a host of Meskill family members also looked towards him.

"Master, Leader Jace sent someone, saying there’s important news to notify you in person."

"Oh? Jace Berger sent someone specially over?" Everyone in the room was taken aback. What was this all about? Hadn’t Jace Berger been in touch with the butler over the phone recently?

"Where is this person?" asked the Meskill Family patriarch with a frown.

The old man replied, "Waiting just outside the door."

"Let him in," said the Meskill Family patriarch, also puzzled. Wasn’t it convenient to communicate by phone? Had someone been eavesdropping on his own calls? So he wanted to see what was going on.

"Yes." The old man turned and left.

After about ten seconds, the old man brought Yusuf Zuck inside and then bowed and exited.

The Meskill Family patriarch, that tea-drinking expert Little Han, along with the Meskill family high-ranking officials all turned their eyes to Yusuf Zuck.

They hadn’t seen this man before, but he exuded no aura of internal strength; he wasn’t a practitioner of the internal martial arts.

"You’re sent by Jace Berger? What’s the matter that he couldn’t say over the phone?" Everyone in the room, it turned out, was unfamiliar with Yusuf Zuck.

The truth was, Yusuf Zuck had just entered their sight, and they also believed that Yusuf Zuck was going to be a dead man, so there was no need to pay much attention to him.

The Meskill Family patriarch asked as the others also watched him.

At this point, Yusuf Zuck just laughed slightly. The Meskill Family? Not so impressive. If he were to act now, the Meskill Family patriarch would already be dead, and the high-ranking officials of the Meskill Family would die off as well!

"Mr. Meskill, here’s the thing," Yusuf Zuck said with a finished laugh, speaking directly, "Your grandson, Lian Meskill, sent gunmen a few days ago to shoot me in the back. Not only did I take two bullets, but they also damaged my car worth over four million. Now your grandson is dead, so I’m here to settle accounts. Surely the Meskill family won’t deny the debt, right?"

"What?"

"What?"

Upon hearing Yusuf Zuck’s words, the Meskill Family patriarch burst out with a flash of sharpness, Little Han suddenly stood up, and the other Meskill family members were baffled.

"You’re that Yusuf Zuck?" The Meskill Family patriarch took a deep breath. They were all sitting there waiting for news of this Yusuf Zuck’s capitulation, yet the man had actually come to their place? Appeared right before them to demand a debt?

How audacious was this person? Moreover, his power was formidable. The recent news had been that he entered a hotel room, with a heavy police presence watching him. How did he manage to get to them so quickly?

And more importantly, this was the Meskill Family Ancestral Hall, a location unknown to outsiders. How did he find out about it?

"Kid, you’ve got guts!" Little Han tensed up all over, unable to believe that this man was the legendary Mr. Zuck!

He knew very well Yusuf Zuck was a formidable presence, and if Yusuf Zuck had initiated an assassination just then, he probably wouldn’t have been able to save everyone.

Sweat trickled down his back as he was seized by retrospective fear!

"I’ve always been bold," said Yusuf Zuck, glancing at him, "I advise you not to make a move. You’re the only one here, and you might not stop me before I kill, I’m just here to settle accounts. I don’t want to kill anyone today!"

"Ha ha ha." The Meskill Family patriarch suddenly burst into hearty laughter. "Very good, very good, no wonder you dared to kill my grandson, no wonder you dared to cause a ruckus at the Qi People’s Convention. It seems we’ve underestimated you!"

"Mr. Meskill, you are mistaken," said Yusuf Zuck, "Your grandson’s death has nothing to do with me, don’t try to pin it on me. Also, I’m a lone wolf who acts recklessly, likes to kill and set fires. Your Meskill family is indeed established and prosperous, with descendants and success abounding.

"In fact, I’ve always lived by the rule that if no one offends me, I’ll not offend anyone; but if someone offends me, I’ll kill their whole family!" Yusuf Zuck glared fiercely at the Meskill Family patriarch, issuing a blatant threat.

"You wouldn’t dare!" barked Elder Meskill, his anger punctuating the air as he angrily slapped the armrest.

The other members of the Meskill Family had already stood up, and that Han-surnamed man was likewise poised, ready to pounce at any moment, though Elder Meskill hadn’t given the order to kill.

"Hehe, what do you think, do I dare or not?" Yusuf Zuck chuckled wickedly.

Elder Meskill’s breath hitched. Indeed, this man had already killed his grandson and now had the audacity to show up at their headquarters—what wouldn’t he dare to do?

Pushed into a corner, he might bite like a mad dog.

Elder Meskill, a hawkish figure for a lifetime, had lived seventy or eighty years and had become extremely shrewd, so he understood Yusuf Zuck’s intentions for visiting that day.

One was to show his might, and the second was to suggest a negotiation.

Right, if there was no intention to negotiate, even if he had come, he wouldn’t have shown his face; he would have just carried out an assassination.

But his appearance suggested a will to negotiate.

However, if the Meskill Family really negotiated with this Zuck, they would utterly lose face. But refusing to negotiate now could mean that Zuck might take action, and with only Little Han here to defend and other senior members of the clan present, a mishap could mean utter ruin. If this man managed to kill them all here, the Meskill Family would be annihilated, and other powers, other clans, would likely use this opportunity to crush the Meskill Family into oblivion!

Elder Meskill knew that today, he had been cornered by this rabid dog of a man, struck at his vital spot, leaving him powerless to resist!

At the same time, he couldn’t help admitting that this seemingly insignificant man had audacity and meticulous planning, daring to infiltrate this den of dragons and tigers—this man would likely become a force to reckon with in the future!

"Lian, write a check for ten million to him!" After a long silence in the room, Elder Meskill suddenly spoke, instructing his third son to write a check—for ten million.

Didn’t he wreck your car worth four million? And shot you twice? Ten million should cover it all, right?

The third son, referred to as Lian, grimly pulled out the checkbook, wrote a check for ten million, tore it off, and pushed it across the tea table.

"Thanks," Yusuf Zuck said, ungraciously pocketing the check, and then turned to Elder Meskill, "I’m here for a wedding today, but there are a lot of people outside who want to capture me. Elder Meskill, could you use your connections to do me a small favor? Have them pull back, and after I have attended the wedding, they can come for me?"

"Sure, sure," Elder Meskill replied with a faint smile.

"Then I’ll take my leave." Yusuf Zuck gave a cold glance to all the Meskill family members, imprinting their faces in his memory, then turned and left.

No one saw him out. The Meskills didn’t make a sound either; they all heard Yusuf Zuck exchanging pleasantries with the elderly gatekeeper as he walked to the courtyard.

Moments later, they heard the sound of the big gate closing. The members of the Meskill Family, along with their expert, Little Han, all turned to look at Elder Meskill.

"Little Han, are you confident you could kill him with one blow?" Elder Meskill asked gravely.

"No." Little Han was actually in his fifties, but in front of Elder Meskill, he could only be called Little Han.

"I can’t see through this man, so I am not confident I could kill him with one blow. Besides, I sense danger from him; he’s no ordinary person!"

"Without the certainty of a one-blow kill, if we can’t kill him, he will be a disastrous bane. For now, notify Jace Berger to hold off on any action!" Elder Meskill closed his eyes. To be honest, he was feeling a bit unwilling to gamble – after all, his family had much to lose. If that mad dog went on a rampage, the Meskill Family would face heavy losses.

So the situation was such: if they were to act, they had to ensure a one-blow kill; they had to kill him outright, or else the consequences would be endless.
