Chapter 405: Chapter 404: Ariel Higgins Finds a Ghostwriter

On the way back, with Mia sitting in the passenger seat gazing at Yusuf Zuck with a playful look, she remained silent, seemingly waiting for Yusuf to confess on his own.

Knowing exactly what this girl was thinking, Yusuf deliberately played dumb.

"Don’t you have anything you need to confess to me?" Mia finally couldn’t help but ask.

"Confess? Confess what?" Yusuf pretended to be utterly clueless.

Mia said angrily, "Fine, you won’t talk, right? If you don’t explain, tomorrow I’ll have Ruth come back and join me at the wedding!"

"No, no, I’ll talk, isn’t that enough?" Yusuf immediately caved, aware that Mia’s tactic was very effective.

"Hmm, Rachel Fournier probably doesn’t have much to do with you. I didn’t see anything fishy between you two. What does she do?" Mia began her interrogation.

"Rachel is the successor of the Emei school, skilled in martial arts, and you know I also have skills. Plus, Rachel is exceptionally formidable, so I wanted to recruit her."

"Emei? For real?" Mia exclaimed in surprise.

"She also knows your mother, and she was there the last time you saw your mother."

"Then I definitely need to get to know her, an Emei heroine, eh?" Mia said, excited.

"Hehe, you’ve already met her," said Yusuf with a sly smile.

"Cut the laughter. What about the other two? You’re hiding three women in your golden house, what about the other two?" Mia asked again.

"Another one is Raelyn Petty, from the Hong Kong Petty Family. You saw her in Hong Kong last time when I used Flying Sword to kill that old man accompanying Kevin Nash. The Petty Family and I have made several deals, one of which is them sending a clan elite to learn my skills. Collins Brown has only been in the capital for a few days, and I’ve arranged for her to stay at my place."

"Oh, she’s Raelyn Petty’s person, I see, I see," Mia nodded repeatedly, aware of the significant intrigue between the Petty Family and Yusuf.

"What about the last one, what’s her name, Paisley? Your foster sister?" Mia pressed on.

"Her name is Paisley Kirk. She used to be a nurse. My dad stayed in the hospital in the capital for over a month recently, and she was the one taking care of him. They got along pretty well, and the old man liked her for her righteous nature, so he took her as his foster daughter. After the old man was discharged, she moved in with us, and she’s currently a nurse at a clinic run by a buddy of mine."

"And hey, even though there are three beauties in my house, I hardly stay home for many days. After all, it’s not convenient with one man and three women, right?"

"Really? Then where do you stay?" Mia asked, curious.

"When Ruth wasn’t back, I stayed at Ruth Wilcox’s Home. Later, I got busy and hardly spent a few days in the capital in nearly a month."

"Fine, you pass. Tomorrow I’ll go to the wedding by myself, and won’t bring little Ruth along!" Mia declared, satisfied.

"Hehe..." Yusuf could only laugh awkwardly.

"Stop laughing. Just because those three aren’t, doesn’t mean there isn’t someone else outside. That policewoman, the one who was hospitalized? Don’t think I don’t know. And another woman who manages your money, the one who made the transfer when you paid me back. I don’t believe there’s nothing between you two. But I’ll get to see her tomorrow, and I’m going to take a good look!"

"Grandma, can you not be so nosy? You aren’t my girlfriend, okay?" Yusuf protested, fed up with Mia meddling in everything.

"But I’m your girlfriend’s bestie, and it’s my duty to help her keep an eye on her hubby, right? Besides, sooner or later, I’m going to be yours, so I need to get to know you in advance!"

"You’re bringing this upon yourself. Who knows, one day I might just turn into a beast!" Yusuf warned.

"Why don’t you just turn into a beast today, don’t wait for another day—I’ve been ready for a long time!"

"Pfft—" Yusuf Zuck was completely speechless and defeated once again. Faced with this feisty and bold yet meticulous Mia, Yusuf really had no tricks up his sleeve.

After finding a noodle shop and having a meal, Yusuf finally dropped her off at Ruth Wilcox’s Home, though her Ferrari continued to be commandeered by Yusuf, because his own car was totaled.

At 8:30 in the evening, Yusuf arrived at Marlon Shepherd’s place. Marlon had already returned, but he wasn’t at home, busy arranging dinner for classmates and friends who had come to town. Samuel Ross and the others had left, but Paisley Kirk, Miles O’Brien, and Raelyn Petty stayed behind, helping to decorate the bridal room and clean up.

"Everything is set for tomorrow, right?" Yusuf asked Collins Brown.

Collins Brown smiled and said, "You’re the big boss who’s officiating the wedding—we need an officiant tomorrow, and you’ll have to take the stage to marry us."

"Alright, I can do that," Yusuf nodded. As Marlon’s boss, officiating the wedding was just right for him.

After staying for about half an hour at Marlon’s place, Yusuf left with Miles O’Brien and the other two. Since Miles O’Brien had something to discuss with Yusuf, she rode in his Ferrari, while Raelyn Petty drove her car.

"I had a suit and leather shoes custom-made for you, you should try them on when we get home." Miles O’Brien was like Yusuf’s logistics officer, responsible for washing his clothes and socks after he changed out of them.

"Okay, I’ve been so tired these days, give me cupping therapy tonight." Yusuf wasn’t planning on leaving that night and intended to stay over at Miles O’Brien’s place.

Miles O’Brien, smiling, looped her arm through his, then started talking about the New Year’s shopping—what she had bought, how much it cost, and went through it all again.

While chatting, Miles O’Brien suddenly asked with surprise, pretending she had just noticed, where he got the car from?

In fact, she didn’t want to ask, but her curiosity was killing her—did Yusuf buy it for someone else, or was it someone else’s he was driving?

"Um, this car, well, it belongs to a friend of mine. You see, I didn’t have a car to get around, so he lent it to me for the time being!" Yusuf casually clarified.

"Oh." Miles O’Brien didn’t ask further; this Ferrari was red, probably driven by a girl.

"It belongs to a woman, a very old friend of mine. You should remember her; it’s the same person we went abroad to save that time with Fleur Carson."

"Oh, I know now—it’s the one who lent you sixty million, right? The one I repaid last time!" Miles O’Brien exclaimed with realization.

"Right, it’s her, we don’t have anything going on, just that we can hang out together. She’s a good girl!" Yusuf purposefully added a bit more explanation.

"I didn’t say anything." Miles O’Brien murmured softly.

Yusuf smiled and said nothing more.

Just as the two returned to Jade Garden, and the car was parked right at the doorstep, Yusuf’s phone suddenly rang.

It was an unfamiliar number. Yusuf slowly brought the car to a halt, answering the call with curiosity.

"It’s Ariel Higgins," came Ariel’s voice as soon as the call connected.

"Oh, you changed your number?" Yusuf asked, surprised.

"This is my assistant’s number; take it down. If you can’t reach me on my phone, you can call this number instead," Ariel said indifferently. "I’ve found one of the gunmen who attacked you; he’s with me right now. Can you come over?"

"You found a gunman? I can come now, give me the address!" Yusuf’s eyebrows shot up—Ariel had found the whereabouts of the gunmen first.
