Chapter 378: Chapter 378: The Assets and Responsibility of the Xiao Ye Family

The meeting of top masters from Japan’s three major schools continued until dawn before it ended. Naturally, the theme of their meeting had gradually escalated from initially targeting Yusuf Zuck’s actions to the warpath of martial arts between two nations, and even settled on the candidates for going to China, how to initiate their revenge, and so forth.

Of course, this was a closed-door meeting, and those present could only listen with their ears but were not allowed to reveal a single word; what they considered next was how to execute their plans.

Yoko Ono did indeed return to the Ono Kendo Hall after dawn, as her father said she would inherit everything from the Ono family, but she truly didn’t know what to inherit.

Was it the land of the Kendo Hall? Perhaps, as the land of the Kendo Hall was very valuable in Tokyo.

As for the rest, she didn’t know because she couldn’t access anything else of the family; although she lived in the Kendo Hall, it was practically no different from being isolated.

The Kendo Hall was particularly desolate, the police tape was still outside, and other than the rustling sound of the wind in the courtyard, there were no other sounds.

Yoko felt a bit scared, and at the same time, she also felt helpless. Over the years, the person she had contact with the most was her grandfather, but now her grandfather had died, and her feelings for her grandfather were a complex mix of love and hatred.

She was actually quite rebellious, but she concealed her inner rebelliousness very well. In front of her grandfather, in front of her father, in front of everyone, she was submissive, but inside, she resented them, because they took away everything from her, including happiness.

At eight in the morning, two cars entered the Kendo Hall, and then five people carrying briefcases got out.

Yoko met them in the Martial Practice Field of the Kendo Hall, and all six of them knelt down to each other, then the five people took out many documents in succession!

"Miss Ono, according to the inheritance laws and Ono clan regulations, we are here to inform you about the inheritance matters of the Ono family," the first lawyer pulled out a document, which was a declaration, signed by Tadeo Ono, her father.

"Your father decided to renounce all rights to the inheritance of the Ono family’s property eight years ago, and with the passing of your grandfather a few days ago, you are now the sole lawful heir."

Yoko didn’t say anything, but listened quietly.

"We will now explain the relevant property documents one by one, and you are required to sign each of them," the lawyer pulled out another stack of documents and handed them to Yoko: "This is the complete property documentation of ’Tenmono Realtors’ located in Tokyo, which includes a pharmaceutical company, a logistics company, and a real estate company. For many years, these companies have been managed by professional managers. Please sign here."

Yoko was a bit bewildered, as she had never heard about such extensive family assets before.

However, after thinking it over, she immediately signed her name.

After she signed this inheritance document, the second lawyer took out another stack of documents: "Miss Ono, the documents I am holding are related to real estate. There are three villas in Tokyo, two duplexes, and seven commercial properties. Of the three villas, two are currently rented out, the duplexes are being rented out, and all seven commercial properties are rented out. We need your signature," said the second lawyer with utmost respect, as this sixteen-year-old girl’s net worth had become incredibly large.

After some thought, Yoko signed her name. These things, she was previously unaware of; she was just a girl, and she had never heard of such clan properties.

The third lawyer presented his documents: "Miss Ono, I am holding documents related to overseas assets, and I will keep this brief."

He said, "Mr. Ichiro Ono has a vineyard in Italy, a newspaper in America, a research lab in the UK, an antique car dealership in France..." Though the man aimed to keep it short, he still spoke nonstop for three minutes, detailing properties around the world, some extensive and some modest.

"Please sign here."

Yoko was already numb and continued to sign.

The fourth lawyer produced documents: "Miss Ono, the documents I hold represent the Ono family’s investment equity. The Ono family owns eight percent of the shares in Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, and Tenyu Aviation, three percent shares in Tokyo Bank, and..." Another sequence of shareholdings, all in various major corporations, ensued.

Yoko Ono signed her name again.

The fifth lawyer presented not a property, but a key, "Miss Ono, this is the key to the Ono Clan’s safe deposit box at Tokyo Bank, which you will now inherit."

"All of these are ours?" After the fifth lawyer finished speaking, Yoko finally asked the question, of course, it was a bit foolish to ask since she had only questioned after all the signing was done.

"Yes, you are now the sole legal heiress, and you have the right to make any decision!" the first lawyer said respectfully.

"May I know the approximate amount of these assets?" Yoko continued to inquire.

"Of course," the lawyer thought for a moment before replying, "Including real estate and bank deposits, and if we are to measure it in terms of corresponding shares, it amounts to no less than seventy billion US dollars!"

"Oh." Seventy billion was a figure, and also a concept, Yoko was not sensitive to such numbers, but she knew that, for the rest of her life, she would have no financial worries.

"I don’t understand any of this. I will have to trouble you all with these matters, for the current stage, please proceed according to my grandfather’s wishes," Yoko said with a deep nod of gratitude. The five lawyers returned the gesture simultaneously, then rose, shook hands with Yoko one by one, and turned to leave.

Not long after the departure of the five lawyers, a Japanese woman dressed in a kimono stepped lightly into the Martial Practice Field.

This woman was in her forties, heavily made-up, her face painted white, her lips a bright red, and she had a pillow tied behind her lower back, wearing wooden clogs and taking tiny steps as she walked in.

Yoko didn’t recognize her, but she watched the woman with curiosity.

"Yoko, my name is Shonoki Fujiwara, you can call me Aunt Fujiwara," Shonoki Fujiwara said, kneeling before Yoko.

"So, what does Aunt Fujiwara want with me?" Yoko asked oddly.

"I’ve been instructed by your father to take you to Hokkaido."

"Hokkaido? For what?" Yoko grew nervous, someone sent by her father was there to take her away.

"To systematically learn, including culture, social skills, ninjutsu, Sword Dao, military, and so on. For the next ten years, you will follow me and learn these," explained Aunt Fujiwara.

"No... I don’t want to go," Yoko rebelled for the first time, standing up. Her grandfather was dead, and now her father was trying to control her life again. She disagreed.

"You’re still such a child..." Aunt Fujiwara... no, Shonoki Fujiwara shook her head, "This is your father’s command, so you have no choice..." Aunt Fujiwara stood up, reached forward gently, grasped Yoko’s hand, and suddenly Yoko felt an overwhelming force that uncontrollably made her follow Aunt Fujiwara out of the Martial Practice Field.

The Ono Kendo Hall became even more desolate as Tadeo Ono watched from an attic above the hall, his daughter Yoko being stuffed into a car by Aunt Fujiwara, leaving a trail of dust in their wake.

"You will take on the heavy responsibilities of the Ono Clan!"
