Invisible Security Guard
Chapter 371: Tadeo Ono

Chapter 371: Chapter 371: Tadeo Ono

Yusuf Zuck could not comprehend what sort of feelings Yoko Ono had for him, nor did he know what this underaged girl had gone through in her life over these past ten-plus years.

However, Yusuf felt pity for her, the kind of pitiable sorrow that tugged at one’s heartstrings.

Her crying was that of grievance, not because she was bullied by him, Yusuf Zuck, but rather... it was a heart-wrenchingly sad cry.

After crying enough, she eventually drifted off into a confused sleep.

At exactly midnight, Yusuf quietly got out of bed, stood at the bedside and watched her for a full half an hour before turning around to leave.

The atmosphere on the streets of Tokyo was still filled with tension, with many intersections having checkpoints set up, where all passing vehicles and pedestrians had to be checked.

The deaths of over fifty people all at once, particularly key members of the Black Dragon Club, had decimated a clan, shocking the entire nation of Japan. Both officials and the public were seething with anger.

After walking past two streets, Yusuf stopped moving forward, nor did he hail a cab, because even if he did, he would be stopped for inspection, and that would not only prevent him from reaching the Santiago residence but also expose his identity.

It was also due to the language barrier – if he could speak Japanese, then locating the Santiago residence would be much easier.

Of course, Killian Santiago was a marked man; even if it wasn’t for Yoko, Santiago was certainly a dangerous individual. He was a research scientist, and should he succeed in finding a shortcut to Grandmaster level, how terrifying would that be? Therefore, such a person had to be eliminated.

"I need to go back," Yusuf decided after a few minutes of contemplation on the street corner and began walking back. What Yoko had given him was only the address of the Santiago residence, not the research institute. And in order to destroy Santiago’s research, he would have to go to the institute, so he needed to ask Yoko where it was.

About ten minutes later, as he returned to the pedestrian street where Yoko’s parents lived, he happened to see a police car and a black Lexus stopped on the ramp, which was the entrance to the pedestrian street. A policeman got out of the police car, and two people got out of the Lexus.

One of them was carrying a briefcase, and the other was a middle-aged man in a suit, around fifty years old. The police officer kept a distance away as the man with the briefcase talked to the middle-aged man while walking.

The three of them entered a house some twenty or thirty meters away from Yoko’s home. The man with the briefcase and the policeman then returned, leaving the middle-aged man to go home alone.

Moments later, when the two cars left together, Yusuf stepped out from hiding, looking rather perplexed, because clearly, the middle-aged man was an important figure, even escorted home by police after work.

"Could everyone living here be a high-profile person?" Yusuf’s eyes lit up, and if that were the case, he was considering setting the street ablaze.

As he jumped back into the yard from the wall, Yusuf suddenly saw Yoko standing at the second floor.

Indeed, Yoko had woken up at some point and was now standing by the window, looking out.

When Yusuf saw her, she also saw him, and she quickly ran downstairs, not even bothering to put on shoes.

"Melvin Zuck~" The door opened, and there was Yoko, still in her oversized sweatshirt, breathing heavily, and what’s more, her eyes revealed joy.

"Quick, close the door, it’s cold outside!" Yusuf darted in, gave her a glance, and once again picked her up in a fireman’s hold.

Yoko let out a soft gasp, then wrapped her arms tightly around Yusuf’s neck, murmuring Melvin Zuck, Melvin Zuck...

Yusuf carried her back to the second floor and tucked himself back into the futon.

"Melvin Zuck..." she snuggled up to Yusuf of her own accord.

Actually, Yusuf could not understand why Yoko was behaving this way; logically speaking, since he had killed her entire family, she should have hated him, but she did not.

Yusuf was perplexed and eventually decided not to think about it anymore. After all, Japanese women were a peculiar species.

The next morning, they still had takeaway for breakfast, and after a joyful breakfast with Yusuf, Yoko suddenly remembered the scene she had witnessed the previous night and began to ask about it.

"This community is home to several legislators, even high-ranking officials from the Police Headquarters live here, so it’s the safest place. Melvin Zuck, I don’t want to have contact with the outside world again, can we just live here..." Yoko naively asked.

"Are you afraid of interacting with people?" Yusuf asked curiously.

"In Yoko’s world, there’s no one she can trust; in Yoko’s world, she doesn’t know the meaning of living; in Yoko’s world, she’s so afraid every day; in Yoko’s world, there’s no one who can give her a sense of security," she said.

"So I can give you a sense of security?" Yusuf Zuck asked with a smile.

"Yes," Yoko nodded firmly. "Although you’re dangerous, Melvin, I feel safe with you. You won’t hurt me, will you? You’ll protect me, won’t you?"

"Yes, I won’t hurt you. I will protect you," Yusuf Zuck nodded in response.

"Today, I will go and kill Killian Santiago, but you still have to tell me where his research facility is, what he looks like, everything. After I’ve killed him, I’ll come back tonight," he said.

"It’s very hard to find that research facility. Even taxi drivers can’t find it, but Yoko can take you there," Yoko offered eagerly.

"You’re going to take me there?" Yusuf Zuck narrowed his eyes. Having Yoko lead the way was a feasible plan; he’d just have her wait outside. Besides, the daytime should be laxer than the night, and the roadblocks wouldn’t be set up at the intersections.

"Alright, pack up, and we’ll set off in a bit," Yusuf Zuck decided immediately.

Yoko quickly dressed in her kimono and tidied up the room a bit before they both stepped out of the estate together.

However, the moment Yusuf Zuck left the estate, he became invisible.

"I’m by your side, lead the way," Yusuf Zuck’s voice whispered in Yoko’s ear.

"Okay," Yoko wasn’t scared and nodded repeatedly; after all, she had witnessed Yusuf’s miraculous disappearance the day before, so it no longer surprised her.

After going down the slope and taking an outer bend, they reached the intersection, where Yoko casually hailed a taxi. She deliberately took a moment longer to open the door before sitting down.

"Kon’nichiwa," she greeted the driver as she got into the car, saying hello and then giving an address. The driver laughed and chatted with Yoko.

As the taxi passed the intersection from the previous day, indeed, there were no roadblocks; after all, having them for too long caused disturbances.

The taxi took about forty minutes to reach the address Yoko had given. It wasn’t Killian Santiago’s house or a research facility but a private garden closed off to the public and surrounded by iron fences.

"Melvin, are you there?" After the taxi left, Yoko asked softly.

"I’m here." Yusuf Zuck had become visible once inside the taxi but then went invisible for the second time.

Now he could maintain his invisibility for twenty-seven minutes at a time, which was three times longer than the original nine minutes, and he could do this four times in a row before needing a two-hour break.

"The research facility is inside this garden; this is the back of the facility. There’s an army camp inside the garden, but you can jump in from here," she explained.

"Alright. The exact location is, after you go in here, just keep going straight, then you’ll see a three-story building painted orange, and the research facility is in that building. However, the lab is underground. Killian Santiago is bald, in his sixties, wears thick glasses, and is missing a finger on his left hand."

"Okay, you go back home. I remember the way and can get back by myself. You shouldn’t stay here," he instructed.

Yoko opened her mouth: "Melvin... be careful."

"I will be. Killian Santiago must die," Yusuf Zuck said and then leaped into the garden.

...

Meanwhile, at Yoko’s parents’ house, a not very tall middle-aged man opened the gate of the estate. He was carrying a travel bag in his left hand and a katana in his right. The short man walked with great stability.

And the moment he entered the yard and opened the door, his eyebrows lifted because on the floor of the room lay two boxes of leftover takeout.

He was Tadeo Ono, Yoko Ono’s father, one of the three leading figures in Japan’s Sword Dao.
