Chapter 293: Brother Dao’s Killing Spree

Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Brother Dao’s Killing Spree

In fact, the trap Lucy Clayton had dug was not just one, as her series of actions had already begun to unfold.

When Ember Vance went out with her gun, the supervisor leader of the sub-bureau happened to enter the courtyard, catching her red-handed, and the sub-bureau leader had also brought another colleague from the sub-bureau’s criminal police team. They came to retrieve the archives of New Era Film to consolidate the cases.

As only a precinct chief, Ember Vance was bound by the rules to comply, and thus she handed over the case files of the New Era case.

Of course, she knew that it was not the time to hand over the documents, as doing so would mean big trouble for Yusuf Zuck. Therefore, she quickly claimed that the case officer had gone home after work and that she would call them to come over.

The call didn’t go through because the other party’s phone was turned off, and Ember Vance then stated again that it was too late and that she would personally deliver the files to them the next morning.

The colleague from the other party did not press too hard. After all, it was already night, and there was not much they could do with the files. Besides, this little precinct chief Ember was easy to talk to and even offered to deliver the files personally, so they greeted her and left.

Ember Vance walked around the precinct yard a couple of times, then went back to the office, grabbed the files, and headed to a certain residential complex. This complex was where the bureau’s Director Long lived, and she wanted to find him and leave the files there.

Meanwhile, as she was on her way to find Director Long, Samuel Ross and his companions, who had been drinking, abruptly stopped and hurriedly settled their bill before leaving.

However, once outside, they were shocked to find that all four tires of their Land Rover were flat, having been punctured.

Although they all started cursing, it was Samuel Ross who sensed something amiss. He did not rush to fix the tires but instead looked around the parking lot and the sides of the road at several cars.

After only a few glances, Samuel Ross suddenly shouted, "Go, scatter, find places to hide."

"What do you mean?" Including the fellow named Pillar, everyone was stunned for a moment.

Yet just at that moment, more than a dozen burly men armed with machetes and military daggers and wearing skating caps suddenly charged at them from several vans parked on the street side.

"Damn it..." Even though Pillar and the others were skilled in combat, the sight of so many men, armed with military daggers and machetes, made their hair stand on end.

"Scatter, don’t fight, we’ve walked into an ambush," Samuel Ross yelled as he took off running. He knew that it was not the time to face off against their opponents. A direct confrontation would mean a severe loss, so running was of utmost importance.

"Whoosh~" Although Pillar and the others obeyed Samuel Ross’s command to run, what they didn’t expect was that the attackers were not just those dozen or so people. In the direction of their escape, another van pulled up, and nearly ten more people armed with machetes and military daggers got out and collided head-on with Pillar and his group!

Cold sweat formed on the soles of Samuel Ross’s feet. He realized that he and his brothers had been targeted, and the attackers were well-prepared.

"Fight, Pillar, lead the way, keep pushing through, don’t get entangled!" Samuel Ross roared as he clashed with the opponents. Pillar, with his impressive skills and quick speed, was the first to dodge an enemy’s blade, then with a move, he disarmed the opponent and plunged the blade into their stomach.

On another side, Floyd Hart, Uriel Arellano, Grey Petty, and a few others were also engaging the attackers head-on.

However, Uriel Arellano, with his strong background, did not suffer, even knocking down two attackers on the spot and seemingly breaking their arms.

Grey Petty was not at a disadvantage either. Having trained in wrestling with Dream Morrow at the same sports school, anyone who got close to him would be thrown, flipped over without knowing what hit them.

Only Floyd Hart and Wen Shuai were injured; the two of them weaker in combat, were overwhelmed by several attackers, leading to Wen Shuai receiving two knife wounds on the arm, while Floyd Hart fared even worse with a military dagger stab in his belly.

Samuel Ross, too, was wounded, with his palm deeply gashed by a machete.

Pillar was unscathed, and he took down the most opponents. Moreover, his strikes were ruthless, using the blade to specifically target the enemy’s vitals.

The confrontation between both groups was as swift as it was brief; the attackers clearly had orders to hit and run, so after a few had been taken down, the rest quickly got in cars and sped away. Samuel Ross and his group did not run because Floyd Hart was unable to.

It took less than two minutes for a patrol car to arrive; a pedestrian had called the police, and as luck would have it, there was a patrol near by, so the police quickly took control of the scene and Samuel Ross and others were shouting loudly for an ambulance.

...

Inside a Mongolian yurt at the Ulan Chabu vacation resort, Jerome Hart was cheerfully slicing off pieces of rabbit meat, then placing them onto the plate in front of Faye Webb, who was nibbling away.

Jerome Hart’s attentiveness to her had not gone unnoticed by Faye Webb, but she found it amusing and enjoyed the sensation, so she didn’t mind his presence, on the contrary, she found Jerome Hart quite interesting.

"Creak, creak, creak," there were sounds outside the yurt, the snow made footsteps particularly distinct.

Jerome Hart and Faye Webb didn’t take it seriously, assuming it was probably a staff member from the resort.

The tent flap was lifted, and then a stranger’s head appeared, the person was wearing a fur hat and also grinned, "Excuse me, is there someone called Jerome Hart here?"

"Huh? You’re looking for me? Who might you be?" Jerome Hart and Faye Webb looked at the person oddly, as he was a complete stranger to them.

"It’s like this, I came from the city center, the city center..." As the person spoke, he stepped inside, and when he got within two meters of Jerome Hart, all of a sudden, two sharp knives fell from his sleeves, and he slashed one toward Jerome Hart’s neck and the other toward his stomach.

He aimed to gut him!

"Damn—" Seeing the flashing blades heading straight for him, Jerome Hart’s entire body bristled in shock, and he fell backward with a start.

He was a practitioner of internal martial arts, albeit at an introductory level, but still an expert, so the knifer’s sudden dual attack did not reach him.

With a "wham, snap," Faye Webb moved, picking up the plate in front of her and smashing it at the knifer, while lunging forward at the same time.

She too was an expert, a disciple of the martial arts, and in no way weaker than Jerome Hart—she was only stronger!

With a "boom, bang," the knifer seemed not to have anticipated that both Jerome Hart and Faye Webb were martial experts. Although his blades were quick, against practitioners of internal martial arts, he was instantly defeated; Faye Webb struck fiercely and mercilessly, and after a palm strike and a punch, the knifer was sent spitting blood and tumbling out of the tent.

Faye Webb rushed out angrily, followed by a furious Jerome Hart.

However, at the very instant that Faye Webb was the first to rush out of the tent, several ’whooshing’ noises pierced the dark night sky!

"Faye, watch out..." Jerome Hart shouted as he threw himself at Faye Webb, grabbing her from behind then violently turning around.

"Thump, thump—" As he turned, an arrow pierced through his calf, and another arrow shot into his back.

With a "heh," Jerome Hart let out a deep cry, and while Faye Webb was still lost in panic, he took a sudden step forward toward the knifer, and then he smashed his fist into the knifer’s throat!

"Crack—" The knifer’s eyes bulged as he watched his throat shatter, while Jerome Hart spewed a mouthful of blood and collapsed skyward.

The second flurry of arrows arrived, and Faye Webb pulled Jerome Hart’s body back inside the tent.

"Thud, thud, thud—" Many arrows hit the Mongolian yurt, and suddenly it was quiet outside.

"Jerome—" Faye Webb’s eyes reddened, her whole body trembling as she looked at the arrow in Jerome Hart’s chest.

There was blood on Jerome Hart’s lips, but he was smiling and said softly, "Faye... you smell so good, let me take it in a bit longer..."
