Chapter 270: Chapter 270: Living for My Sister

After talking to Sara on the phone, Yusuf didn’t rush home but continued to have dinner and watch a movie with Miles O’brien, also discussing recent events, including the situation in the shop and the amount of the staff’s year-end bonus, among other things.

At midnight, Yusuf returned home, and Miles went back to her villa; after all, it was late, and she needed her rest too.

The living room at home was very quiet, with only Sara there by herself. It seemed that old Zuck had gone back to the countryside, and upstairs there should be Dream Morrow and Everest Zuck, but they were all either drinking or sleeping and watching TV in their rooms.

"You’re finally back; you don’t care about me at all; I’ve been waiting for you all night!" When Sara saw Yusuf come in, she started to complain. With Yusuf staying away from home for days, she rarely caught sight of him.

"I’m not leaving this time, I’m really not. Hurry up and tell me what’s going on?" Yusuf had been thinking all evening about Sara’s filmmaking situation. As he no longer needed money, he could even start a film company and invest in making movies himself!

"We’re about to have our winter holiday, and many production teams come to our school to pick actors. I applied for a few, and then one from a war-themed production selected me. I’m not a lead or a supporting character, just someone who gets to show her face on screen, has a little part, a few lines, and acts against several extras. I accepted the offer and signed the contract. The filming will be in Shenyang, and the production team will cover food and accommodation, providing a daily allowance of two hundred. My part is about fifteen minutes long, scattered over the first ten episodes, so they’re giving me two thousand per episode. It will take about a month, so I can earn more than twenty thousand, nearly thirty thousand. You have no idea, a lot of my classmates are envious of me getting this role!"

"What about the director and the producer, who are they?" Yusuf asked.

"The director is someone called Zhang Shuai, probably a new face with no big reputation. The producer is Josephine Cooke; I haven’t heard of her either. But you don’t need to worry about safety; they came to our school to select actors, and everything has been vetted by the school authorities!"

"Hmm, who are the male and female leads then?" Yusuf asked again.

"I don’t know that; filming hasn’t started yet, so the identities of the leads are being kept secret."

"I’ll accompany you tomorrow to tell them you won’t act." Yusuf shook his head, "A small production, no name recognition; even if you go and earn that twenty thousand or more, it’s not worth it—going to Shenyang to freeze for a month. We don’t need your twenty thousand here!"

"I’d have to pay a penalty for breach of contract, and I want to act since it’s an opportunity after all. Once I have this experience, it will be easier for me to audition for other production teams in the future!"

"Even with a penalty, you can’t act. Don’t rush. I’ll pull some strings to see if I know someone in this field and then get you into the cast of some big production. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll just start a film company and invest in making a movie specifically for you!"

"I don’t even know what you’re busy with now. Tell me, how much have you earned these past few months? How did you make it?"

"It’s all from selling antiques, probably a few billion now. Don’t worry, I didn’t break any laws!" Yusuf said, ruffling Sara’s hair.

"Brother, I’m worried about you." Sara’s eyes reddened, "I’ve noticed you’ve changed a lot recently, not like before. You used to split a penny in half to spend it, but look at you now, spending money like water, and even arranging bodyguards for me. What exactly have you been doing outside?"

"Sara, relax, your brother hasn’t been involved in anything illegal outside. The reason for having bodyguards is because that Otis Quinn has a powerful figure backing him, who’s been wanting to deal with me but hasn’t made a move. So, I’ve called some brothers over to help!"

"I’m a little scared..." Suddenly Sara clung to Yusuf’s arm, murmuring, "I’m afraid you’ll drift further away from me, afraid that one day I won’t be able to find you. Brother, I really don’t need to become a star, I don’t need to live in a big house, and I don’t want so much money. I just want you to be safe and sound."

"Since Mom’s gone, I want to take care of you, but now I realize I can’t. Sometimes I wake up from nightmares at night wanting to talk to you, but your room is always empty!"

"Brother, I don’t want to grow up, I don’t want you to get married..." Sara suddenly burst into tears, revealing her true feelings. She had a close relationship with her brother, but now he was investing a lot of emotion in other women, making her feel very lonely.

"Then don’t get married. We won’t grow up either, okay? I promise, starting today, all the way to New Year’s, I’ll stay at home, not running around anymore. Okay?" Yusuf said affectionately as he hugged her. They had relied on each other for so many years, and in fact, the person she loved the most, was still this sister of hers.

He told Marlon Shepherd that the only heir to all his wealth was Sara, which was enough to show how important she was in his heart—no one could compare.

Although he hadn’t spent much time with her or had heart-to-heart talks, everything he did was for her.

Sara was an indispensable part of his life.

"Then I’m sleeping with you tonight!" Sara suddenly said with a burst of laughter.

"You’re too old to still sleep with me. It doesn’t look good if someone sees us!" Yusuf gave her a look.

"What’s there to be afraid of if we’re in the same room? We used to always do this, share the same bed. Plus, you can sleep on the floor, and I’ll take the bed, as long as you’re in my room!"

"That’s not really appropriate either; we have outsiders in the house. It wouldn’t look good if they saw us," Yusuf said with embarrassment.

"I just want to talk with you, listen to you boast, listen to your stories; then I can sleep even better. It’s been such a long time since I’ve felt that way! And what can others do if they see? You’re my brother. Can’t we just chat in the same room?"

"You have a point. And since our house has underfloor heating, sleeping on the floor wouldn’t be cold," Yusuf nodded. "Let’s go upstairs, I will tell you about my wealth now. You should know, I’m making big money now. So forget about those bit parts. I’m planning on hiring a top director, a big production team, to shoot a feature film just for you. Actually, I need to make a call about this right now." As Yusuf walked upstairs with Sara, he took out his phone and dialed Everest Zuck’s number.

He didn’t care what time it was at night; if he felt like calling, he would call!

However, as soon as Everest’s phone connected, Everest was frantic on the other end, yelling, "Yusuf, are you out of your mind? How many times has this happened, calling me in the middle of the night? Don’t you know old people have poor sleep quality? It’s hard to fall back asleep once woken up in the middle of the night. What do you want? Are you trying to drive me insane with sleep deprivation?"

Yusuf said with a wry smile, "Big brother, I ran into some trouble. I don’t know anyone else in the capital, so I have no choice but to come to you."

"Oh, what trouble have you gotten into? Why do you always court trouble?" Everest complained.

"It’s not a big deal, it’s about my sister. You know my sister is at the Capital Film Academy, right? She got a part in a film today, just over ten minutes, as one of the female lead’s personal maids, the kind that probably dies in the first ten episodes!"

"My point is, forget about this role, don’t take it. Say, do you know anybody in this field who could introduce my sister to a better, larger production crew?"

"Damn, all this for such a trivial matter? You think it’s worth calling me in the middle of the night?" Everest cursed.

"My sister’s affairs are no small matter to me. I live for my sister!" Yusuf said loudly.

"Brother!" Sara patted her brother, but her face was radiant with a brilliant smile, blooming like peach blossoms!
