Invisible Security Guard
Chapter 174 - : Apply for Passports in Different Places

Chapter 174: 174 Chapter: Apply for Passports in Different Places

"If you’re looking for a trustworthy investment advisor, I’m afraid I can’t help with that. However, there are many investment advisory firms in the capital; you could ask around. Go for those with proper credentials and a good reputation in the industry," Mia suggested.

"Oh," Yusuf Zuck shook his head. He truly didn’t understand, and he felt that actively seeking out investment firms seemed unreliable. These days, how many can you really trust?

Even if they are registered with the state and have all sorts of qualifications, who can guarantee they won’t embezzle your money?

In truth, Yusuf Zuck had very little contact with the financial world and didn’t know the ins and outs of it. Moreover, his way of thinking was still that of a small farmer’s mindset. In the end, he hadn’t transitioned from the identity of a security guard or driver into that of a billionaire.

After chatting in the garden for a while, they both went back to their rooms to rest.

However, what Yusuf Zuck didn’t expect was that after he had fallen asleep in bed, Mia took Ross’s mother and Lily Burch downstairs.

Yusuf Zuck, who was half asleep, did hear someone going downstairs, but he didn’t get up, nor did he bother to use telekinesis to sneak a peek. It wasn’t until the next morning when Yusuf Zuck woke up and saw the note left in the living room that he realized Mia had packed some things and left straight away after going upstairs last night.

That’s right, Mia had left without saying why, leaving only a message for Yusuf Zuck: "Can’t sleep, I’m leaving. Suddenly I want to travel the world and look around, and see if I can find a man with better character and morals than you, Mia left!... :)"

It was just a few joking sentences, and she even drew a smiley face at the end.

After reading the note, Yusuf Zuck picked up his phone and tried calling Mia.

But the phone indicated that Mia had turned off her phone.

Yusuf Zuck sighed softly to himself, composed a text message to send her, telling her to have a safe trip and to be careful. Mia was a good girl, rather, a fantastic girl, with her independent thoughts and personality, and a highly variable character that possessed a personal charm which made the people around her feel a sense of closeness.

Finding a reason to dislike her was impossible!

Yusuf Zuck washed his face and, unusually, cleaned the house, swept the floor, and then drove to the hospital.

He had a lot of business to take care of today. Although the new shop’s renovation didn’t need his attention, he still had to stock up on goods. Otherwise, the shop wouldn’t have enough antiques to sell after the renovation was completed. Plus, he also needed to visit his sister’s school to make a photocopy of her ID to give to Miles O’Brien.

At noon, Ember Vance called Yusuf Zuck. In a soft and apologetic tone, she told him that she couldn’t go out with him over the weekend because the precinct had informed her she had to attend a training course for two weeks, starting this weekend.

"But to make up for it, come over to my house for dinner tonight. I’ll cook something delicious for you!" Ember Vance added at the end, taking the initiative to invite Yusuf Zuck over for dinner.

"Not tonight, I’m busy," Yusuf Zuck flatly rejected her, because he planned to move valuables, including the jewelry, to the new villa tonight.

Ember Vance then let out a disappointed ’oh’.

"How about this, I’ll find some time to stop by your precinct this afternoon, okay?" Yusuf Zuck laughed over the phone.

"But how can you see me at the precinct..." Ember Vance was feeling down, but with just one sentence from Yusuf Zuck, she cheered up again. It seemed Yusuf Zuck really was busy tonight!

"I’ll just take a look at you from outside and bring you something nice!" Yusuf Zuck laughed.

"What kind of nice thing?" Ember Vance asked curiously.

"You’ll see when the time comes."

"Oh, okay then. Give me a call when you arrive, and oh, there’s one more thing, a good thing!" Ember Vance suddenly remembered something and immediately became excited.

"What is it?" Yusuf Zuck was puzzled.

"Didn’t you say a few days ago that you needed to get a passport? Didn’t I tell you that you had to go back to the local area to do it? Now you don’t have to." Ember Vance said happily, "I asked my colleagues in the household registration office these past two days. Actually, since July 1st last year, 43 cities in the country have started to offer passport services locally. Before, when I worked in the criminal police, I wasn’t clear about household registration matters. But now I’ve looked into it, and I’ve even prepared the temporary residence permit for you. When you come by this afternoon, just give me your ID and a few one-inch photos, and I’ll take care of it for you. You’ll be able to apply and get it within half a month to a month!"

"Really?" Yusuf Zuck said, pleased.

"Yes, really. There’s news about it online, it’s all my fault that I almost made you go all the way back to your hometown. Leave your passport application to me, and if we can’t get it done in time, I’ll go to my uncle," Ember Vance said with two huffs.

"Haha, it’s good to have connections in high places. I’ll give you my ID card when I come over in the afternoon."

"Alright then, let’s hang up, I’m about to have lunch," Ember Vance said with a smile.

"Let’s hang up." Yusuf Zuck ended the call with a smile. Ember Vance was really thoughtful; she even remembered his passport application. She was always particularly attentive to all his affairs.

After a simple lunch with Miles O’Brien at the decorating shop, Yusuf Zuck took a walk in the Ruiz Family Market, especially around the stalls. He immediately bought anything that caught his eye and seemed authentic.

At two in the afternoon, he went to Haidian to get his sister’s ID photocopy and then returned to his own home. He picked out a Jade Buddha Pendant from a pile of treasures before heading towards the Garden Road police station.

He had known Ember Vance for a while now, and it seemed that he had only given her a smartphone, and nothing else.

He had promised Mia something nice yesterday, but since Mia had left, her gift could wait; however, he decided to give Ember’s gift to her directly today.

They say ’men wear Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), and women wear Buddha’, so giving Ember the Jade Buddha Pendant was also meant to protect her and keep her safe.

The two met up outside the police station; Ember Vance got into Yusuf Zuck’s car, and then in the car, Yusuf personally put the Jade Buddha Pendant around her neck.

Ember Vance’s body was somewhat mechanical and stiff, her heart pounding erratically. Actually, she was not a girl who usually got nervous, but around Yusuf, she was always tense and sometimes even afraid to speak.

"Get back to work. If you can finish at a normal time today, let’s make a plan to go out for a meal. I really have something to take care of tonight, otherwise, do you think I wouldn’t go to your house? I’d be delighted to," Yusuf said as he fastened her uniform top button, which he had undone while putting on the necklace.

"Okay, then you... you... that’s it, drive safely," Ember Vance said with a blushing face as she got out of the car and hurried back into the station.

Yusuf laughed to himself. Ember’s coy demeanor and blushing face were especially attractive. She was like a lily bud waiting to bloom, which made him want to pluck it, yet couldn’t bear to do so!
