Chapter 1472: Chapter 1472: The Time Seems to Have Arrived

The Blood Energy Battle in the True Spirit World was still ongoing, but it had turned into a series of small-scale ambushes. Everyone had scattered into the forest, some setting traps and lying in wait for prey, others actively luring targets over. In short, everyone was doing everything possible to kill as many people as they could.

Only Yusuf Zuck remained hidden. After crawling into the hollow of a tree, he stayed completely still, even vanishing completely, his presence concealed.

At first, everyone at the Four-Fog Pool kept watching him, but as his breathing became steady and he clearly entered a state of closed-door cultivation, they all began to lose interest.

This man had hidden himself completely.

The Saint Archer was already seated, his expression dark and brooding, as he drank his wine sip by sip. His gaze was fixed in one direction—the place where Yusuf Zuck was hiding.

Meanwhile, after Yusuf entered closed-door cultivation, he unexpectedly discovered two distinct streams of energy within his body. Upon closer observation, he realized that the energies were identical to those of Avah Merritt and Lionel Trujillo.

He was taken aback at first but quickly came to understand: killing someone would inexplicably transfer their Blood Energy, powers, and fate to you. You didn’t need to devour their flesh, drink their blood, or absorb their cultivation. Simply killing them would grant you their energy.

Yusuf began to absorb and integrate the two streams of energy.

In just a dozen minutes, the energies were fully fused and absorbed, their Blood Energy becoming entirely his own. He could see the towering Spirit Sprout grow taller, and his Cultivation Realm leapt from the Elementary God Sovereign level to the Intermediate God Sovereign level.

Killing two people had allowed him to rise by an entire stage—a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

"Rustle, rustle—" Just as Yusuf finished digesting the energy and pretended to continue his meditative cultivation, the tree he was hiding in suddenly shook. Immediately, someone landed on the trunk of his tree.

It was someone who had fallen, seemingly badly injured, with no pursuers behind them.

"Look, everyone! That wounded little fellow landed right under Yusuf Zuck’s nose!" A burst of astonishment came from the Four-Fog Pool. Yusuf was unbelievably lucky—even though he didn’t set traps or actively seek prey, someone had voluntarily delivered themselves to him.

"Honestly... his luck is just ridiculous." Many of the powerful cultivators watching were speechless. Yusuf Zuck’s stroke of fortune had taken them aback.

"Who’s the injured guy? Does anyone recognize him?" someone asked.

"That’s someone I nominated," replied an individual, their skin blood-red, with crimson long hair, and pupils that held a single thread of flame within them.

Clearly, the ’iris’ of this person’s eyes was a thread of fire, uniquely different from normal human anatomy.

It was none other than the Flame God, one of the Ancient Era’s Five Great Deities.

The Five Great Deities, although Saints of the Ancient Era and not fully ascended Emperors, were still supreme among Saints.

"So, the Flame God nominated him," the crowd exhaled deeply but shook their heads. Even if the Flame God nominated him, he wasn’t likely to survive.

No one said another word, but their attention returned to the tree, focusing on the two figures perched there.

Yusuf lay below, concealed in the hollow of the tree, while the Flame God’s nominee sat above him, perched four or five meters higher, consuming an Elixir amidst his injuries while vigilantly watching his surroundings.

"If Yusuf strikes now, that guy will surely die, don’t you think?"

"Without a doubt!"

"It seems Yusuf hasn’t made a move yet, but he surely knows that person is there."

"Ah, what unlucky timing," many muttered with sighs, certain now that Yusuf Zuck was the strongest among the eighty-one contenders.

Suddenly, someone cried out, "Look over there! That Yin-Yang cultivator’s Blood Energy has reached seven streams!"

"What? Killed another one?" Following the voice, the crowd looked toward a corner of the Four-Fog Pool and spotted the Yin-Yang cultivator, devouring something voraciously, blood dripping from the corners of their mouth. Above their head, seven streams of Blood Energy surged.

They were the contestant with the highest kill count so far.

"Who nominated this Yin-Yang freak? How can they be so monstrous? Judging by their cultivation and behavior, they clearly belong to the demonic path!" Many spectators, especially those representing the victims killed by the Yin-Yang cultivator, voiced their outrage.

"He was chosen by us, the Five Emperors," the Green Cloud Heavenly Emperor said with a faint smile. "It was our collective decision."

"Ah..." Hearing the Heavenly Emperor’s words, the crowd fell silent, stunned. Five Emperors collectively chose them? Who exactly was this Yin-Yang cultivator?

"There’s something you don’t know—he’s the inheritor of the Scarlet Origin Taoist!" Green Cloud Heavenly Emperor revealed smugly.

"What?"

"Hiss—"

Upon hearing this, everyone drew a sharp breath.

During the Ancient Era, there were twelve figures who came to be known as the Twelve Sovereign Gods, ruling over twelve powerful tribes.

Among them, the Scarlet Origin Taoist was one of the Sovereign Gods.

Of course, back then, the Sovereign Gods’ cultivation level was merely equivalent to that of Heavenly Emperors.

However, all twelve Sovereign Gods ultimately perished, sitting in meditation at the Burial God Mountain in the Element World and succumbing to their dwindling vitality.

Their bodies transformed into twelve skeletons, which were later stolen, crushed, and refined into pills.

The Green Cloud Heavenly Emperor, the other Heavenly Emperors, and some of the deities present had all witnessed the Twelve Sovereign Gods’ demise, as they were friends, relatives, or even fellow tribesmen.

Thus, the Yin-Yang cultivator, having inherited the Scarlet Origin Taoist’s legacy, could be considered their descendant.

No one expressed further dissent. Scarlet Origin Taoist’s inheritor clearly had the qualifications to participate in these trials.

While everyone was stunned and lost in thought, on the giant tree where Yusuf Zuck and the Flame God’s nominee were, the nominee unexpectedly bored into a tree hollow. It was only the width of a thumb but glowed briefly as they slipped inside.

The Flame God’s disciple was now closer—less than one meter away—from Yusuf within the tree hollow.

"Flame Saint, who is this person to you?" someone suddenly asked.

"My closed-door disciple, Harry Montoya," the Flame God replied coldly.

"Ah." The crowd nodded quietly, saying little. Everyone, including the Flame God, knew that Harry Montoya was bound to die!

...

At the same time, Yusuf had long since noticed someone’s arrival, noting that they had climbed above him. Now, within arm’s reach, he could grab or strike them at any moment.

Though his eyes remained closed, excitement surged within him—for he knew his opportunity was here.

This wasn’t merely an opportunity to kill and snatch Blood Energy, but an opportunity to parasitize.

If he could evade the observers’ sight and parasitize the body of the person above, he would become untraceable, his presence completely undetectable.

But he hadn’t yet decided how to evade detection or execute the parasitic technique. Everything had to be shrouded in complete secrecy. No one—no matter how divine—could see or trace his actions.

"Who is it? Who placed us in this twisted arena, forcing us to kill each other? Is it a single individual or a group? How can I escape their scrutiny?" Yusuf’s thoughts were tinged with impatience. He loathed this feeling—the sensation of being treated like a puppet in someone else’s game!
