Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Everest Zuck’s Olive Branch [Four updates for monthly pass]

Yusuf Zuck was convinced; this time he really did encounter a remarkable individual. Although the note didn’t explicitly mention that he had killed four people within these three days, the implication was clear. He simply hadn’t been called out on it.

Of course, as to how Everest Zuck had figured it out, Yusuf Zuck would never be able to guess, and he would never admit to having stepped on any mouse. Even if a knife were held to his throat, he wouldn’t confess to such a thing.

"Mr. Zuck is truly a remarkable man. I’m lucky to have met him today, so may I ask Mr. Zuck to divine my fortune?" Yusuf Zuck had not believed in fate before, for he hadn’t encountered a real sage. But now he did believe, so if he could get guidance from Everest Zuck, he might avoid some detours in his future life.

Everest Zuck shook his head with a smile, "I can’t tell your fortune."

"Uh... Why?" Yusuf Zuck asked, puzzled.

Everest Zuck looked at Yusuf Zuck and said, "Your fate is too strong. If I try to read it, it would shorten my life!"

"You’re joking, sir." Yusuf Zuck laughed twice but didn’t continue the topic.

Just then, Louise Garrett suddenly chimed in, "What about me, Mr. Zuck? Can you read my fortune?" Louise Garrett asked with eager anticipation.

"What would you like to know, Miss Garrett?" Everest Zuck asked curiously as he looked at Louise Garrett.

"I want to know about..." Louise Garrett unconsciously glanced at Yusuf Zuck: "my marriage prospects."

Everest Zuck understood and smiled, then pondered alone for a few seconds before speaking, "Everlasting longing creates boundless sorrow, a grief with no end in sight. What you seek, you can see, touch, feel, yet you cannot hold. That’s all I will say for today, let’s leave it at that!" As he said this, Everest Zuck suddenly took out a business card from a drawer and handed it to Yusuf Zuck, "This is my phone number. If you have any questions or treasures in the future, feel free to come to me."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Zuck."

Bryce Harper, who was sitting on the side, was shocked. It was the first time he had seen Everest Zuck voluntarily give his business card to someone. Even high-ranking officials couldn’t get his card, yet now he had actively given one to Yusuf Zuck?

Bryce Harper was filled with wonder. Could it be, as Everest Zuck said, that Yusuf Zuck was a man of great wealth and honor?

"Yusuf, Louise, go ahead and wait for me downstairs," Bryce Harper said after thinking it over. He didn’t leave immediately because he still had many questions and also wanted to ask Everest Zuck for a small favor.

There was a problem with the shop Yusuf had just rented. He wanted Everest Zuck’s help, as Yusuf had only mentioned the Blood Jade but not the shop.

Louise Garrett’s gaze drifted, and her mind seemed unsettled. Everest Zuck’s words had been very clear—her romantic life was fraught with difficulties. She might not get what she desired.

And what did she want? She wanted Yusuf Zuck, but now she could only see him, touch him, feel him. Could she hold on to him? She wasn’t even sure herself.

Yusuf Zuck held her hand and they went downstairs. When the study door closed behind them, Everest Zuck didn’t wait for Bryce Harper to speak but waved his hand saying, "Don’t ask anything, and I won’t tell anything. But for you, Yusuf is a benefactor. That’s all I have to say, Harper. I have a plane to catch. Let’s get together when I return from Hong Kong."

"Oh, okay." Although Bryce Harper knew Everest Zuck well, Zuck was a mysterious person, and he could never get too close to him. Or, to put it differently, Everest Zuck and he weren’t truly friends; they weren’t at the point where they could joke or sit together, drink, and play finger-guessing games.

...

Meanwhile, downstairs, Yusuf Zuck hadn’t let go of Louise Garrett’s hand. He too picked up on the troubling undertones in Everest Zuck’s words, which meant Louise Garrett was not in good spirits.

"Don’t listen to his nonsense. All fortune-tellers talk like that. Fate is something that cannot be completely believed or disbelieved. If he could predict everything, he’d be an immortal. So believe in me rather than him," Yusuf Zuck whispered in Louise Garrett’s ear.

"Mmm, I’m fine. It’s just that some shadows lingered in my heart," Louise Garrett said with a wistful smile.

"He’s a fraud," Yusuf Zuck chuckled.

"So, what did he write on that note he gave you?" Miles O’Brien asked curiously.

"Nothing much, just said I’d have a bloody disaster, and it’s already come true, you see this hand?" Yusuf Zuck lifted up his bandaged right hand.

"Oh, haha," Miles O’Brien laughed as well. Yusuf’s hand was injured; wasn’t it a bloody disaster, after all?

Bryce Harper and Everest Zuck came downstairs. Although Bryce Harper wasn’t a true friend, he was still a guest, and while Everest Zuck didn’t need to come downstairs to greet him, he had to stand up to see him off.

This Everest Zuck also had a sort of underworld ambiance about him.

As Everest Zuck descended the stairs, Yusuf Zuck noticed that Everest wasn’t particularly tall, around five foot seven, not fat nor thin, with very pale skin, thick eyebrows, and large eyes; he probably was quite the handsome man in his youth.

As Yusuf Zuck was sizing him up, Everest smiled back at him in a friendly manner, saying, "When I return from Hong Kong, my young friend, you should come to visit more often. I gave you my number earlier, but you haven’t given me yours."

"I don’t have a business card, let me dial it for you," Yusuf Zuck immediately took out his cell phone and called the number on Everest’s business card.

However, no ringtone sounded, suggesting that Everest didn’t carry a cell phone with him.

"Mhmm, that ring was enough, I don’t have my phone on me. I’ll save it later," Everest Zuck said with a smile.

"Mr. Zuck, then we’ll take our leave."

"Wait a moment, please stay," Everest Zuck quickly reached out to stop them. "To meet is fate. I’ve taken a liking to you, young man. Take this as a gift, wear it as an ornament," he said, flipping his wrist and handing a white jade pendant to Yusuf Zuck.

"Thank you." Yusuf Zuck didn’t hesitate, immediately taking it and wearing it around his neck. The pendant was made of the finest white jade—"Emmet Burch"—it was clearly high quality, with great texture and luster. Moreover, Yusuf Zuck could faintly sense something different about it when he used his telekinesis. It seemed to contain a type of energy unlike any other jade he’d seen before, emitting a unique aura!

Although Yusuf Zuck didn’t know what Everest Zuck was plotting, he gladly accepted the gift. Of course, he maintained the necessary precaution; Everest Zuck was neither kin nor kind, yet he’d foreseen Yusuf murdering someone. Therefore, if Everest ever decided to harm him in the future, it would be a major problem. Thus, Yusuf kept his guard up, remaining friendly while he hadn’t figured out Everest’s true intentions.

The old saying goes, "Don’t harbor intentions to harm others, but don’t neglect to guard against those who might harm you." Being a bit cautious never hurt anyone.

After getting in the car and waving goodbye to Everest Zuck, Bryce Harper, sitting in the passenger seat, suddenly burst into laughter, saying, "Yusuf, you may not realize, but Mr. Zuck doesn’t just give his business card to anyone. That number is his private one, I don’t even have it. And for him to give you a meeting gift, you’re no ordinary guy!"

"Haha, what if I said he wanted to have a fling with me, would you believe it?" Yusuf Zuck snickered mischievously.

"Pfft—"

"Pfft—"

Bryce Harper and Louise Garrett almost choked on their own spit hearing Yusuf’s remark. This Yusuf was just priceless, daring to say anything at all; if Master Zuck heard him, he’d be livid.

"Stop talking nonsense, let’s leave it at that, that’s enough!" Bryce Harper immediately stopped Yusuf from spouting more nonsense; those words couldn’t be spoken anymore.

Meanwhile, back at Everest Zuck’s villa, he stood in the courtyard with a light smile on his face. Truth be told, he had done a divination for himself before Yusuf arrived today; it suggested that a noble person would visit. The moment Yusuf walked in, Everest realized there was something different about him, whether it was his appearance or his aura, it was unlike anyone he had ever seen. What shocked him the most, however, was the aura emanating from Yusuf; he had encountered it only once before, three years ago in Lingyun Temple on Mount Wutai when he met the wandering monk, Isaiah Fowler, and that was the only time.

And now, Yusuf Zuck had the same kind of aura as Isaiah Fowler, the master
