Chapter 126: Deal with Bud Trujillo Ruthlessly
Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Deal with Bud Trujillo Ruthlessly
Bud Trujillo never expected that this policewoman would actually play for keeps, daring to handcuff him.
You see, being handcuffed was absolutely different. He could walk out of his company in broad daylight and at most, it would be considered as assisting with an investigation. A trip to the police station and back wouldn’t make a difference, but being handcuffed in front of the whole company was a different story. He might as well throw his face away; he couldn’t show his face in Fragrant Hills anymore. It was too embarrassing.
"Don’t move, nobody move!" When the two officers approached with the handcuffs, Bud Trujillo immediately stood up, signaling them to stop; he had something to say.
Indeed, the two officers stopped. Honestly, with someone like Bud Trujillo, if you didn’t have solid evidence or conclusive proof of his crimes, handcuffing him would be asking for trouble.
"Can I make a phone call? Isn’t this just assisting in the investigation? I’ll cooperate, but I have something to deal with; can I make a call first?" Bud Trujillo asked, looking at Ember Vance.
"No!" Ember Vance’s eyebrows raised, and her tone sharply increased, "Handcuff him and take him away. What’s with the dawdling?"
"Pfft—" Bud Trujillo almost choked on Ember Vance’s response. He wanted to make a distress call, and she wouldn’t even let him do that.
"Don’t resist, resistance means further obstruction of public duties." The two officers walked up to Bud Trujillo, one grabbing his hand, and the other clamping the handcuffs around his wrists.
Bud Trujillo’s complexion turned dark and solemn; he felt something was off. He had done too many bad deeds, and he genuinely feared that his past misdeeds would catch up to him, which could kill him ten times over.
At the same time, he also cast a malevolent glance at Ember Vance. Which god was this policewoman? Why so ruthless?
Upon seeing Bud Trujillo’s vicious look, Ember Vance coldly snorted, "Behave yourself. Search his desk and the room!"
"What?" Hearing Ember Vance’s command, Bud Trujillo leaped to his feet. His office was definitely not up for a search; there were too many dirty secrets here. If they were uncovered, that would spell trouble!
"Yes." The other officers didn’t care about Bud Trujillo’s shocked expression. They immediately went through his desk, filing cabinets, the inner bedroom, bathroom, and so on, meticulously starting their search.
"On what grounds are you searching my office? And what exactly have I done? Do you have a search warrant?" Bud Trujillo trembled with rage and kept darting his eyes around, fearful of what might be found in his office.
"You’ll find out soon enough what you’ve done. Search thoroughly!" Ember Vance knew Bud Trujillo was notorious for his misdeeds, so she was certain there would be contraband in his office.
"Lieutenant Vance, there’s a gun!" Suddenly, not even a minute into the search, one of the officers wearing white gloves pulled a Browning pistol from the bottom drawer of Bud Trujillo’s desk.
Bud Trujillo’s face turned pale with shock. The gun had been found.
"Lieutenant Vance, there are tools here that look like they’re for drug use; this package seems to be methamphetamine..." Another officer brought out a leather bag from the inner room, containing drug paraphernalia and a package that appeared to be methamphetamine.
In the entertainment circle, there were many drug users, especially for a scumbag like Bud Trujillo. So, his drug use was hardly surprising.
"Alright, take him straight to the hospital for a urine test, and confiscate all that was found," Ember Vance laughed. At first, arresting Bud Trujillo was just to assist the investigation, but now, with private possession of firearms and drug use, these two charges were enough to land him in serious trouble.
"Humph." Bud Trujillo grunted angrily. He decided to stay silent now and immediately seek a lawyer upon reaching the police station. Besides, when he would be taken out, someone from the company would inform his family, and once they intervened, he believed he’d be safe.
"Take him away, squad, withdraw!" Ember Vance was supremely triumphant. She thought to herself, as a public servant, she’d be sure to handle this filthy thug.
Moreover, she had prepared herself mentally; no matter who pleaded on his behalf, it wouldn’t work. She intended to detain him for at least half a month, and if the pressure from above wasn’t too intense, she even considered sending Bud Trujillo for prosecution, straight to the prosecutor’s office, to thoroughly bring him down.
Of course, she knew this was going to be very difficult; she feared that before she even made it back to the station, pressure from all sides would start to mount.
Bud Trujillo was escorted down the building, and as he descended, the entire company stood up in shock, watching their boss Bud being taken away in handcuffs.
Yet, when Bud Trujillo was shoved into the police car, he was stunned for a moment because his deputy was also handcuffed and locked inside the vehicle.
"What’s happening with you?" Bud Trujillo asked in astonishment; his deputy hadn’t seemed to have done anything wrong, had he?
"They say I obstructed official business," the deputy said angrily.
"Pfft—" Bud Trujillo almost vomited blood in fury.
"This is anarchy, anarchy! Officer Vance, how can you arbitrarily arrest people? Who gave you the authority?" Bud Trujillo challenged.
Ember Vance, sitting in the front passenger seat, let out a cold laugh, "He’s said it himself, he obstructed official business."
"How did I obstruct official business? What right do you have to arrest me? I’m going to sue you, I’ll expose you all!" The deputy was so angry that his lips trembled as he spoke.
"You can shut up now. This is also called the right to remain silent. From now on, don’t speak. If you do, it counts as collusion, and your crime will be upgraded. Let’s drive, go to the hospital for urine testing, then we’re not going back to the station; we’re heading to the community policing office," said Ember Vance. The girl was smart and not just a pretty face. She knew that if they went back to the station, Chief Harper might come looking for her, so she took Bud Trujillo somewhere else. Once she pried open his mouth and got some solid evidence, she would be able to stand her ground with it. Otherwise, if they went back to the station now, Bud Trujillo would definitely be taken away by someone before she even had the chance to interrogate him.
"Notify the other officers in the car to shut down their cellphones. Anyone who turns theirs on, I’ll take as an act of betrayal, colluding with the underworld," said Ember Vance, throwing down the gauntlet.
In truth, there was no need for her to throw her weight around—the other officers were already afraid of her because they could see she was a tough cookie!
At this time, the color drained from Bud Trujillo’s face. This Officer Vance was going to take him down hard.
...
Yusuf Zuck had no idea that the young Miss Vance was cracking down on Bud Trujillo to help him. At that moment, he had returned to the Ruiz Family’s area because Miles O’Brien had called him, saying that in the afternoon, Bryce Harper was going to take him to visit that Feng Shui Master. Moreover, if they didn’t go that afternoon, they wouldn’t be able to meet the master for a while because the Feng Shui Master was setting off for Hong Kong and only had the afternoon free.
Yusuf Zuck hurriedly made his way to the Ruiz Family’s area. After picking up Miles O’Brien and Bryce Harper, they sped off in the direction of Fragrant Hills, where the Feng Shui Master lived in a certain villa.
These days, diviners and Feng Shui Masters were making a fortune. In the past, during the Cultural Revolution, fortune-telling and Feng Shui were considered feudal superstitions, but nowadays, as society has progressed, more and more people believe in such practices.
These experts are held in high esteem—you go to them when choosing names for your children, for the Feng Shui layout when decorating a new house, or even when placing a fish tank in the office, because the location of the tank can bring wealth. And even more extreme, when officials build new offices or erect statues like door-lions, they consult these masters for good Feng Shui, as it is said to lead to a successful career in government.
Of course, among these fortune-tellers and Feng Shui Masters, most are charlatans playing on people’s beliefs, but there are also truly knowledgeable and skilled ones.
After all, "The Book of Changes" and Techniques and calculations are intangible cultural heritage passed down from our ancestors. Their existence has reason. If Yusuf Zuck had not believed in spirits or the like before, he did now because the Blood Jade genuinely contained Evil Qi, something he had experienced firsthand.
